Russia feels no sense of qualm when it comes to intimidating the United States and Barack Obama.

The pilot of a U.S. spy plane flying a regular patrol over the Black Sea said that a Russian Su-27 fighter jet carried out a successful intercept of the U.S. aircraft, according to Reuters.

Department of Defense officials said there were multiple interactions between the Russian jet and the U.S. Navy P-8 surveillance plane, at one point coming within 10 feet of each other.

"They're up there for 12 hours and there are lots of interactions," said one official, who was not authorized to speak publicly.

Obama's response in accordance with his previous responses to similar incidents was to deem the situation "unsafe and unprofessional."
