10% of Health Care Spending Related to Obesity

According to a report by the journal Health Affairs, obesity accounts for nearly 10% of all medical expenses. Health care costs $1,400 more every year for an obese individual than it does for a person of normal weight, and costs the nation nearly $190 billion a year in total.
