Suspect in Custody After Shooting at Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood UPDATE: Three People Have Died, Shooter Identified

Following a lengthy standoff with police, the suspect in the shooting Friday at a Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs, Co. has surrendered to police and is in custody. His name and motive have not yet been released.

Eleven people, including a reported five police officers, were injured in the shooting. The standoff began a little after 11:30 a.m. local time and ended just before 5 p.m.

The gunman walked out of facility just before 5 p.m. local time, and officers took him into custody, officials told NBC News.

Several more people were injured, with the total now at 11, sources familiar with the incident told NBC News.

Police said they could not immediately say whether anyone died.

"At this point I have as many questions as you do," Colorado Springs Police Chief Peter Carey told reporters before heading to the hospital to visit injured officers.

Police are still clearing the building, now a crime scene, to make sure several unidentified items that the gunman brought with him were not dangerous, police said.

The condition of any of the people transported to the hospital was not immediately known.

UPDATE: One officer shot has passed away.
