Sen. Cornyn: I Want to Treat Dr. Ford The Same Way My Daughters Would Be Treated (VIDEO)

During a press conference on Tuesday, Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) reminded his colleagues that it's important to give both Judge Brett Kavanaugh and Dr. Christine Blasey Ford the opportunity to have their testimony heard. More importantly, Cornyn said he wants to make sure he treats Ford the same way he would treat his grown daughters if they were to come forward with a similar accusation.

“As the father of two adult daughters, as I’m approaching this hearing, I’m thinking, ‘I want to make sure I treat Dr. Ford the same way my daughters would be treated in the event they were making an accusation, or my mother, or my wife.’ To me that’s, I think, the appropriate way for me to think about it," Cornyn said.

Cornyn said it might benefit others, clearly referencing his colleagues, if they thought of Ford in a similar manner.

He then used the opportunity to slam Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) for holding onto Ford's letter for six weeks.

"This process has to be fair to Judge Kavanaugh and to Dr. Ford. As a result of Sen. Feinstein holding onto this letter for six weeks after the hearing process ended, upending the confidential investigation that normally come up during the course of a nomination, protecting the accuser and the nominee while getting to the bottom of it," Cornyn said. "That is out the window as a result of what Sen. Feinstein decided to do."

Cornyn said he agrees with what Kavanaugh said during his interview with Fox News' Martha MacCallum. The Senate owes it to all parties involves to have a fair process, meaning the accused is innocent until proven guilty.
