"I think we've got a unique opportunity to reboot America's image around the world and also in the Muslim world in particular,'' Obama told the Chicago Tribune.

Last week the New York Times reported Obama's staff was considering scheduling a speech in a Islamic capital during Obama's first 100 days, like Cairo or Jakarta where Obama spent time as a child. Obama confirmed this to the Tribune reporters.

Obama said he had an "unrelenting" willingness to "create a relationship of mutual respect and partnership in countries and with peoples of good will who want their citizens and ours to prosper together."

He also said he intends to use his full name (Barack Hussein Obama) when he is sworn in as president.
