Calling for Texas Immigration Law in California

In a groundbreaking move, the Supreme Court has greenlit a law empowering local Texas law enforcement to apprehend migrants suspected of illegally crossing the border. This landmark decision signifies a momentous victory for Texas in its battle against illegal immigration from Mexico. Now, it's time for Californians to rally together to demand that Governor Gavin Newsom take similar action.

Immigration has found its way in the news due to the insane policies of Joe Biden, and Democrat governors and mayors across the United States. From food stamps to luxury housing, many Americans feel that illegal immigrants are receiving benefits many U.S. citizens work their whole lives for. This is especially true in California, where illegal immigrants from across the globe have flooded our border. Under the Newsom Administration, Californians across the state—especially in my hometown of San Diego, where hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens have flooded our streets—have had to deal with the cumbersome burden of illegal immigration.

I have seen the same firsthand having been to the Southern border numerous times to not only document the serious issue plaguing American cities and towns close to the U.S.-Mexico Border, but also to secure segments of the border as well. Due to my work on the border, I call on all Californians to not only contact your representatives and senators, but to also demand that our congressional and state politicians act on the southern border. If we stay silent, we are complicit in the demise of our great state and nation.

My organization, Border Veterans, has spent significant time at the southern border. Some of our firsthand observations would cause any American to shiver at the sheer amount of sex and drug trafficking flowing through our Southern Border by the Mexican cartels. For example, on a recent trip, I saw a border littered with condoms, shredded passports, and plenty of “refuges” dressed in designer clothing. It confirmed what I already knew to be true: the vast majority of these individuals’ seeking asylum are not refugees from Mexico nor were they fleeing persecution in their own country. Rather a large swath of these people are wealthy military age men seeking to infiltrate the United States for various reasons—some rather nefarious.

Look no further than reports from the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol which not only reported a record two-and-half million instances of detaining or rejecting illegal migrants from the southern border, but also noted that the fastest growing group of border crossings from Mexico were committed by Chinese migrants. Unfortunately, the current administrations in Washington, D.C. and Sacramento would rather obfuscate the truth and tell their constituents that the vast majority of these people are poor, persecuted families from Mexico who are coming here (illegally) for better opportunity.

The lies must end, and thus it is incumbent upon all of us to speak the truth. In order to end the infiltration and violation of U.S. sovereignty at the southern border; border states, like California, must adopt policies akin to those we see in Texas. For example, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has not only activated the Texas National Guard to help eliminate illegal crossings, but has also defended Senate Bill 4 in the U.S. Supreme Court—a law passed by the Texas state legislature which makes illegal immigration a state crime punishable by up to 20 years in prison. This week, the Supreme Court of the United States affirmed that Texas has the right to defend its sovereignty, while the Biden Administration continues to abandon its constitutionally mandated role. Every border state, including California, ought to adopt the same measures to not only disincentivize illegal crossings, but to secure the safety of their constituents. However, the necessary actions are not limited to state governments.

On the federal level, it is time to abandon the policy of catch-and-release. During its tenure, the program has resulted in over 75% of illegal aliens, caught by Border Patrol, being released into our country with no accountability—and that is only counting the individuals we have caught. Laughably, instead of shutting down the border and reinstituting policies that worked in previous administrations, the Biden Administration believes issuing ankle monitors to illegal aliens is somehow a solution.

California, if it does not change its course, will buckle under the weight of illegal immigration in our education system, hospitals, and housing. We clearly have the funds to take care of non-citizens, so why the excuses when we, as Californians, demand that our representatives represent us?

We must be willing to change the system that we have enabled through a grassroots campaign and by supporting leaders who believe in putting our country and its people first! We cannot go quietly into the night! We must do what is in our power to do. Vote, research, take a page from the border vets and take some kind of tangible action. We the republic are the answer to all these problems.
