Artisanally-Crafted Narratives – MSNBC

  • Is it possible Rachel has not seen politicians before?

On Joe Biden's favorite network last night, the primetime hosts were all yucking it up with each other, and hostess Rachel Maddow was looking at a clip of some of the Republicans who showed up in New York for the Donald Trump trial. They were seen in the usual D.C. uniform of a suit, with the traditional red tie. This took Maddow by surprise:

One thing that has changed in the Republican Party is that their being in the tank for Donlad Trump over the last five years has changed and became so much more 'tanked' that they all now dress like him too!

Glossing over the fact that save for the neckwear, Chris Hayes was in the exact same ensemble, it apparently is news to Maddow that Republicans on The Hill traditionally have worn dark blue suits and a red tie. But what strikes us as curious is how/why politicians dressing alike for an event are to be mocked for expressing a similar view. If that is the new standard, then we are all for it.

News Avoidance Syndrome – VARIOUS OUTLETS

  • Covering the hoax would mean admitting they were wrong.

In 2021, breathless news reports came out declaring that a mass grave of native school kids had been located on the property of a Catholic school in Canada. The claims were that hundreds of children had been anonymously buried by the school generations ago, and this was a sign of the racism seen in the church. As a result, there was enormous outrage, and as a result, dozens of churches across the country were burned down, and more vandalized.

The Canadian government doled out millions to indigenous tribes for recovery efforts. Now, three years since it has been reported and $8 million paid out, there has not been any evidence that any grave of this sort has been located, and no proof of mass burials taking place has been found. Tribal leaders have turned silent when asked today about this reality and the press is not interested in following up with reports.

Legalized Press-titution – CNN

  • Providing a link to a Trump campaign shop would be a case of both-sides-ism.

Joe Biden came out with the announcement today that he will be debating Trump at the end of June. Sort of. There is a laundry list of demands his campaign forced on the affair, including approved news sites and there being no audience. In his 15-second announcement clip, Biden was so bad at his delivery that it required no fewer than five edits.

In announcing the debate would be held on CNN, network reporter Edward-Isaac Dovere, in unbiased fashion, not only touted Biden mocking Trump over his trial schedule, but he also gave the link to the campaign shop where one can purchase the t-shirt and donate to the campaign.

Gilded Reframe – ABC NEWS

  • Redefining terminology is a sure sign you lost the debate.

George Stephanopoulos has a new book out, and while pimping his release on "The View," he made a forced suggestion. The "journalist" who is as deeply entrenched in The Swamp as any tried to reclassify what the "Deep State" means.

His new interpretation is that "Patriots" are the people who make up the Deep State, but we then need to understand who he is describing with that word. He comes to mean not people with a deep love of country and a fealty to the Constitution, but those who love the government and work to keep the statists in power. In other words, Democrats. In other words, the very swamp creatures who perpetuate the Deep State problems.

Pathological Media Amnesia – THE BULWARK

  • Umm…we guess preemptive election denialism is acceptable then...?

Quickly flashback to how much we have been told that questioning elections is the worst thing to do, that our elections are the most sanctified on the planet, and that anyone daring to throw the results into question wants to ruin our democracy.

Okay – here is Bill Kristol promoting a piece from his site that suggests if Trump wins, it will be due to Putin, and the result is completely in question.

Demo-lition Project – SPORTS ILLUSTRATED

  • Is there a demographic in this issue you have NOT pandered to?

Not to suggest that the dying magazine Sports Illustrated is desperate, but it is once again tipping its hand with the annual "Swimsuit Issue." This time, in an apparent bid to get as much free publicity as possible, one of the featured "models" will be the 69-year-old "CBS Mornings" hostess Gayle King.

At least this way, the mag will get some on-air promotions out of the deal.
