We the Government

Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

It was in that part -- after he celebrated the risk-taking makers of things and before he saw God's grace shining down on the carriers-forth of freedom -- that Obama proposed a list of things "we" are going to do.

In fact, the defining passage of Obama's speech included a "we" in every sentence, and it was soon apparent that he was not talking about "We the People" but "we the government."

"For everywhere we look, there is work to be done," he said. "The state of our economy calls for action, bold and swift, and we will act not only to create new jobs but to lay a new foundation for growth. We will build the roads and bridges, the electric grids and digital lines that feed our commerce and bind us together. We will restore science to its rightful place and wield technology's wonders to raise health care's quality and lower its cost. We will harness the sun and the winds and the soil to fuel our cars and run our factories. And we will transform our schools and colleges and universities to meet the demands of a new age. All this we can do. All this we will do."

Any doubt that Obama was talking about "we the government" doing each of those things or compelling others to do them was settled a few sentences later, when he declared a premature victory in the debate over the legitimate role of government in our lives.

"What the cynics fail to understand is that the ground has shifted beneath them -- that the stale political arguments that have consumed us for so long no longer apply," he said. "The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works -- whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified."

Here Obama contradicted the risk-takers-and-makers rhetoric from the beginning of his speech, just as his invocation of God's grace at the end contradicted his declaration in the middle that "we are a nation of nonbelievers."

At the beginning of his speech, Obama said, "We the people have remained faithful to the ideals of our forebears and true to our founding documents."

But even as his oath to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States" faded into the winter air, he rejected any limit on government other than "whether it works."

If President Obama were to go back and read the founding document whose first three words are "We the People," he would discover that from beginning to end, it limits the power of government.

All the examples you have given are in locations that were just beginning to be settled. Of course, there was no civil magistrate as there wasn't a need yet. When you look at established nations, anarchy is always followed by a dictatorship, the best example being France after their anarchist "revolution" resulting in an oligarchy by Napoleon.

Men need civil government, or else the Bible wouldn't say this in Romans 13:1-6: "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: **For he is the minister of God to thee for good.** But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing."

The question is what type of civil government do men need? The Bible teaches limited civil government, basically to defend against foreign invasion and punish criminals. A moral people will be able to govern themselves in all other areas. And that's where America's problem lies--we are not a moral people.

Even Glenn Beck, an Ohio Yankee, admitted on his show last week that the South was right all along about States' Rights, but good luck convincing your State legislatures on that one; they are mostly blithering idiot, brainwashed lawyers living off the taxpayers' dole doing mostly NOTHING for a living but drawing a paycheck and waiting, like Obama, for that big break to make it to DC. Haven't we wasted enough time with the political process in America??? It is USELESS and CORRUPT at so many levels, and by now, you should be rest assured that THEY ARE NOT LISTENING AND WILL NOT LISTEN TO US!! The only choice We The People have now is either to confederate under a 3rd Party or emigrate. The more I analyze the data, the more I am convinced that even 3rd Party prospects, with the current demographics and imminent demographics with the inevitable passing of Illegal Immigration legislation, will be hopeless for America's future. Phil Valentine, the talk show host, said "California is now FOREVER LOST!" I believe now, wholeheartedly, that those of us who are Christians and True Constitutional Conservatives need to emigrate to another country in a MASS EXODUS, the likes of which haven't been seen in quite some time. We tried voting at the ballot, but it does us no good. Let's now vote WITH OUR FEET! America's done; get out while you can!
