Oren Cass
Biography
Oren Cass is a Senior Fellow at the Manhattan Institute, focusing on energy, the environment, and anti-poverty policy.
Cass served as the Domestic Policy Director of Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign in 2011-12. In that role he shaped campaign policy and communication on issues from health care to energy to trade and was responsible for developing the campaign’s 150-page policy book. He also spoke regularly on behalf of the campaign and participated in debates at Harvard University on health care policy and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on energy and environmental policy.
Since then he has written on many of these issues in National Review, outlining new conservative policy approaches on poverty, climate change, environmental regulation, and international trade. He has appeared on the Laura Ingraham Show and AEI’s Ricochet podcast, briefed members of Congress and congressional staff, and developed the anti-poverty reforms proposed last year by Sen. Marco Rubio.
Prior to joining the Manhattan Institute, Cass worked as a management consultant for Bain & Company in the firm’s Boston and New Delhi offices. There he advised global companies across a range of industries on implementing growth strategies and performance improvement programs.
Cass has earned degrees from Williams College (B.A. in Political Economy, magna cum laude) and Harvard University (J.D., magna cum laude). At Harvard, he served as an Editor and the Vice President of Volume 125 of the Harvard Law Review.
