Will Congress pass Obamacare by the end of the year?

President Barack Obama, and his Democrat Party cohorts, simply fails to understand that government doesn’t create jobs and spark the economy. It also fails to sustain families and individuals during the hard times created by economic recessions.

For instance, Obama's ideas for stimulating the economy -- such as more construction projects -- will not jump start the economy.  Will it help some people keep their jobs?  Sure.  Will it strengthen Obama’s union allies and keep government programs afloat? Definitely. But will it help average citizens facing economic turmoil in the lives? NO.

The same goes with Obama's plans to increase the size of the "nanny state." Liberal-left politicians have always believed that government redistribution of wealth helps create a level playing field in the US. And during a recession, they believe the more government "charity" programs the better.

However, I recently read a news story that reinforced my belief that capitalism and charity are compatible. The newspaper High Point Enterprise in North Carolina reveals a story often neglected by the news media because it doesn't fit their template for covering evil capitalists.

The Enterprise article "One Suit at a Time" tells the story of a worker who, after losing his job, finds hope and help from a High Point-based dry cleaning company -- A Cleaner World -- that provided the unemployed with clothes cleaning services absolutely free.

“During my time of unemployment, things weren’t going very well,” the man told the news reporter.?? He also said he took advantage of the service nearly a dozen times while he was out of work. ??“It was a blessing,” he said.

According to the Enterprise story, A Cleaner World was going to cut off its free dry cleaning program for the unemployed at its 40 locations in North Carolina and Virginia. But the company announced this week it will extend the program through December 31, 2009 because of continued high unemployment in many communities that A Cleaner World serves.??And while the Obama White House and the Democrats in both houses of Congress attempt to takeover this nation's health care industry, few news people cover the stories of retail chains that provide expensive medications to struggling Americans at incredibly low prices.

For example, Wal-Mart, a company vilified by the leftists in the Democrat Party, offers high-priced drugs for as little as $4.00 per month. That includes medications that usually cost patients as much as $300.00 per month. Another chain, Target, offers similar deals to their customers.

If American capitalism is allowed to function free of government intrusion, the marketplace will always find a way to help those Americans suffering personal economic woes. It's in their best interest for capitalists to help their fellow Americans. And that help is rendered without the curse of government intrusion into the affairs of the American people and their communities.

Perhaps someone should show President Obama the High Point Enterprise news story.

Nanny? NOT!
We're not headed for a nanny state. We're headed for a jack-boot storm trooper state.

Banking -
free of government oversight... results in the bundling and sale of worthless instruments to overseas governments and subsequent crash of world economies.

When government forces banks to lend money to people who can't pay it back, it causes the house of cards to collapse.

MEN ARE EVIL when left to their own devices.

Isn't government made up of men?

Libertarianism has been wholly discredited in the last couple years... yet the GOPERS keep thumping that government is the problem and not the solution to greed and the destruction of the middle class.

Government is the solution? Could it be that the destruction of the middle class has more to do with families having to have two breadwinners to pay their debt to the government>

WALL ST is evil. Multi national corporations are evil.

Capitalism created that computer you're typing on, the house you're sitting in, the car you drive...government didn't do any of that for you.

and the GOP and townhall.com would have you believe Insurance death panels are more righteous than government run options.

Yes, better a faceless government employee making my health care decisions than a faceless insurance company employee...much better!

If we didn't have a Post Office... a UPS package or FED EX letter would be triple the cost.

So, you're saying that we need these failed government entities to keep private industry costs down? There are more than two courier companies to insure comptetion. That's an absurd argument.

Greed is not good. It's evil when not checked by the common good. Is there nothing learned from the last 8 years???

Yes, we learned that unemployment was never above 5%.
