Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Only a fool would question Sarah Palin's experience as a basis for her readiness to be Vice-President, especially as compared to Barack Obama's experience as a basis for his readiness to be President.

Never has such a scurrilous set of accusations been less founded. Those who argue them, such as the Obama campaign, because they know the truth to be irrefutable end up rendering themselves silly. The truth is that Sarah Palin is more qualified to be President than Biden or Obama. But let's examine the facts for what they tell us.

What kind of Chief Executive experience does Barack Obama have? Not counting his not-for-profit work alongside convicted terrorist William Ayers - none! Yes it is true that when working with the Annenberg Challenge in Chicago that he and Ayers were co-heads of the project. So that's the full extent of his executive experience. A few paltry months, in the non-profit world, working with the convicted terrorist he once claimed he barely even knew. (Darn those University of Chicago papers...)

So what about Palin? Well... She has administrated a household, the PTA, the City Council, and got so good at it others encouraged her to run a city, and then a state. That's more executive experience than Obama, Hillary, and Biden combined. In doing so she had to deal with issues that dealt with the security, welfare, and economic impact of those under her administration. She's commanded the Alaskan National Guard. She has had to deal with international issues relating to the stewardship of territory with two nations that bordered her state - Canada and Russia. She had to tell Congress "thanks but not thanks" on federal monies that she felt would hurt the average American tax-payer even though it could have meant long term revenue for her state (bridge to nowhere.) She bopped the oil companies on the nose. And when she felt they were soaking the American gasoline consumer - and her oil rich state reaped the windfall - she returned those monies to the people of Alaska in the form of an individual tax-refund of $1200 per person this summer. She hammered her fellow state republicans when they behaved poorly (i.e. U.S. Senator Ted Stevens). And she could only have done any of it - because of her willingness to take on the corrupt old school, good-old-boy partisans in her state that worked against her.

What did Obama do that came close to any of this? The Chicago Democratic machine is as crooked a group as can be found and Obama's not only never opposed them. He's spooned with them (ahem, politically speaking.) He's never had to deal with foreign powers because he's never had to make a decision that put people who depended upon him in the path of a decision with a foreign power. It was like pulling wisdom teeth on the guy just to get him to go put on a flak jacket and visit the troops, much less think of commanding them. When you consider that Obama has voted to increase taxes more than eighty times, you recognize that he would not have the good sense to return the people's money to the people who earned. (And he says he's for the working man...)

And what about those issues that are important to women and children? Sure Obama has voted to mandate abortion's legality - regardless of it's health effects on women. He's voted to deny parents permission to know or to give consent for their minors to obtain abortions. He's even voted to prevent the requirement of the doctor to inform the woman of the medical impact such a procedure would have on her person, mind, and emotions.

Equally wretched Obama has embraced a practice and fought to keep it embodied in law that would allow hospitals to test for Down's syndrome and strongly advocate /pressure the parents to abort the child regardless of the reliability of the tests used to determine the case.

But most horrifying of all Barack Obama is the only U.S. Senator to have voted to deny food, water, and other life saving medical care to Down's syndrome children who have been born.

It must be a particularly passionate issue with Ms. Palin, given that the doctors told her that her son Trig would be born with Down's and strongly encouraged her to abort as well. Trig is the same son she now describes as "perfect in every way."

Obama lacks discernment about simple things like: who is a living person and has constitutional rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And for all of his legislative "experience" (a full 143 days in Washington before running for President) he lacks even the instincts on when to answer the question honestly.

Could Sarah Palin be called upon to be President in the unthinkable eventuality that John McCain was not able to complete his term? Yes...

But does her resume, her character, her "eye-popping" integrity, and ruthlessness for what is right in some way say that she would be unprepared for such?

Hardly.

And if it does then the criticism of the "experience" factor of the Democratic ticket - is more than warranted.

After all Sarah Palin has no executive experience that matches Obama's few months serving alongside a convicted terrorist, who bombed the capital, and said he wished he had done more.

I mean - is that really the change (or experience) we need?

Gov. Palin more experienced than Barack
And what were John Edwards credentials for getting the Veep tap from John Kerry? I do not recall Kerry supporters getting the least bit worked up over that. Why the concern about Palin's creds, could it be they fear what Palin could do to this race? Destroy Palin before she destroys their "Hope".

Excellent article
Barack is a total nothing in the experience department. Community organization, state senator who didn't really capture the seat himself, lawyer (isn't everyone?) and windbag. That's about it.

The leftie bloggers are completely disgusting when it comes to Palin, insinuating well beyond the scope of imagination. Change? What's so different about filthy minds in 2008 from filthy minds in 1996? Looks and sounds the same to me.

Present Presidential politics

Dear concerned citizens of America and mass media of the U.S.A.

As a concerned disabled American Veteran and American citizen, I consider it my duty and responsibility to address the following critical issues facing the voters of our Greatgrand nation, the United States of America [USA].

The citizens of the United States of America [USA] have the ultimate power and responsibility to elect the Right Ticket with the right joint "temperament, judgment, and statesmanship" to lead our nation as well as change our nation's present and future moral, political, economic, educational, health care, energy, military, and foundational soul.

In my firm professional, personal, and political opinion, the media should help the common voter to explore and discuss the following attributes of the present Republican and Democratic presidential slates:

1. Does the joint ticket have a calm, cool, and collected " temper and impulse" [Presidential Temperament]?
2. Does each ticket have sound and sustained "Judgment and Caliber"?
3. Does each ticket have a "presidential depth and degree" in regard to their purpose, policies, and positions?
4. Does each ticket have adequate, "understanding and knowledge" of workings around Washington"?
5. Does each ticket have enough "vigor, wisdom and Vision" for the future of our beloved Great-grand Nation?
6. Does each ticket possess enough joint foreign policy experience and ex-poser based on "American Values, Virtues, Vastness, and strong soul"?
7. Are their campaign talk, slogans, ads, plans, and programs based on facts and are they free of fear, fiction, frivolous labels, unfair attacks, negativity, and impulsivity?

History of pre-Presidential experiences
On Presidential experience and qualification just look at history. Four Presidents, all military, had no government qualification. One farmer-solder, one solder, and two military academy. (Washington, Taylor, Grant, and Eisenhower). Abe Lincoln stands unique because he had no education and only spent two years in the House of Representatives. Teddy Roosevelt is another, only spending two years as the Secretary of Navy. Today none of these six would be viewed by the media and the liberals as experience or qualified.

Look to Mount Rushmore! There is Washington (solder), Jefferson (2 year Governor), Lincoln (2 year House member), and Teddy Roosevelt (2 year Sec of Navy).

Of the 43 Presidents, 23 came from State Governorships. Many only after two years. Of our 220 year history, 122 years was lead by ex-governors. Conversely, only 10 years by those going direct from the Senate to the White House, for two died in office. Only four lawyers spent limited time in the Senate before going direct to the White House (Pierce, Garfield, Harrison, Kennedy). The rest of Presidents coming out of the legislature first did some duty in the executive branch in Secretarial Positions, or in V.P. Positions.

The fact is few spent a lot of time in Washington D.C. before moving up, proving that leadership is not a function of time, or of time spent in D.C. legislatures and legislative committees The fact is also that most went through Ivy League Law Schools. Twenty one came out of Ivy League law colleges. Nine had no college. Three from military academy’s, and the rest, some college. Most political experiences, time wise, was in State and local governance.

As I have stressed, think leadership not experience, not familiarity. Too many confuse experience (time)with qualifications (ability). Too many confuse education (law school) with intelligence (reasoning powers).

ROWELG (MN)
WOW! What a great piece. Thanks.

Gov. Palin more experienced than Barak
"Why the concern about Palin's creds, could it be they fear what Palin could do to this race? Destroy Palin before she destroys their "Hope"."

Joe (MO), you hit the nail on the head!

Proven experience
It is truly amazing that the dems are calling Sarah Palin's credentials into question. Of course they realize the comparison between herself and Slick, make Slick look the neophyte that he is. Exactly what are Slick's accomplishments?

Satire On Liberal Screams
Liberals are Screaming about Sarah Palin around the internet. Here is some SATIRE I wrote about their screams.
------------------------------------------------
Liberals are saying Comrades, er uh I mean fellow Democrats, "Palin has zero experience as a Community Organizer". How could she possibly be ready to be President?

Sarah Palin has NO plagiarism experience as well.

Sarah Palin will NOT appease Iran and Syria, not to mention Ayers, Wright, Farrakhan and The Nation of Islam.

How many articles has she written for Harvard Law Review?

We have not heard her say "um", "uh" or "er" once, how could she possibly communicate with Obama followers?

Sarah Palin NEVER even fulfilled any kind of quota.

Our Obama-Messiah has created a whole new class of Americans, 'Bitterclingers' who might see this 'SarahCudda' as relating to them. Quoting our 'Obama' "this is NOT unacceptable".

This woman doesn't represent 'The American Woman', she didn't even allow her young to die in a dirty hospital utility room alone.

Sarah Palin was pictured with a gun and a soldier. Need we say more about her lack of Patriotisim?

Horrors of Horrors her husband is probably a 'vicious' Promise Keeper.

Sarah Palin is a mockery to 'womyn' everywhere! She's like some sort of different species of human!

Can you feel the insult of it all?
To question this Ladies qualifications and being a Governor, yet never once question Obama's own?

And his qualification?
He is campaigning for President.

His campaigning is the only experience he has.

Its an intended insult to everyone's intelligence to question this Lady and promote Obama as if he had 143 years in government and not 143 days he has.

A vote for obama is a vote for distortion and lies, accepting the insult.

Comparing Experience
I would much rather have a person with Sarah Palin's experience in the White House than someone with the experience of The Messiah, Lord Obama, the Most Wise and Merciful. Without a TelePrompter he's as lost as he can be. I hope everyone noticed that, when she was speaking after she was introduced, no TelePrompters were in sight. She was speaking from the heart, something Lord Obama doesn't know how to do. It is a testimony to her competence that the libs are in full-fledged panic mode right now and Hillary is turning the air blue, since she was dissed by The One. Go, Sarah! Give them what for!

Talking points
The "Governor Palin has no experience" posters are just using the time honored formula of repeating a big lie often enough that people begin to believe it. It is an organized campaign. It has been very effective in the past.

truth
A few months ago, Palin said in an interview that she didn't know what the vice president does.

Obama has significant executive experience, dating back to when he ran the Harvard Law Review, with a staff of 70, while still in college. He so impressed Judge Mike McConnell (who later advised Bush on the Alito and Roberts picks) that McConnell recommended that the famously conservative University of Chicago put him on their staff. He resisted a tenure position, as he wanted to do other things, but did begin teaching Cont. Law (so hopefully, unlike Palin, he knows what the president and vice-president do).

He ran Project Vote, which had a staff of more than 700 volunteers, and was incredibly successful. He also did numerous projects with a variety of foundations.

Palin was mayor of a 5000 person town, which she bankrupted. She then moved on to the governor's office. The state of Alaska has about 640,000 people, so she's roughly equivalent to the mayor of Macon, Georgia. And she hasn't done a great job. The state house can't stand her, and her approval ratings have dropped from 80% to 65% in the last six months.

This is the sort of people

Liar
Who are happy to think everyone is as dumb as she obviously is.

Animal Girl you're such a joke...
By your own stats - Obama did "executive" work that managed 770 people. And by your own measure Palin out performed her 1000's of times over.

You also flat out lied.

Her approval has dropped from the mid 90's-80% - but she would win re-election in a heartbeat.

And what you really can't stand is that you know that she's tougher than Obama on every level.

Nice try Animal Girl but you're lie is showing.

REAL TRUTH
according to Obama and his fellow travelers:

SAUL ALINSKY 101:
even if all the low-income parts of our population were organized ... it would not be powerful enough to get significant, basic, needed changes." "to believe in the immaculate conception of ends and principles ... the practical revolutionary will understand ... [that] in action, one does not always enjoy the luxury of a decision that is consistent both with one's individual conscience and the good of mankind." "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule. Also, it infuriates the opposition, who then react to your advantage."

The Bottom Line: Governor Palin should smile demurely and tell Obama and company to bend over and kiss their A#% goodbye.

Alaska A Sanctuary State?
One of eleven states that issue drivers licenses to illegal aliens. Sorry, folks, she's already on board the cheap labore express, next stop Amnestyville. All they need is your vote to get there.

ALL ABOARD!!!

Yes, Obama has done nothing in Senate
Well, except all this:

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/person.xpd?id=400629&tab=bi lls

But compare the bills he has written, sponsored and co-sponsored to Ms. Palin's experience, and yes, I see why the Repubs are fired up! Especially seeing how she was for the bridge to nowhere before she was against it, but hey, Ted Stevens is her bff...

Experience: getting to specifics

While Barak Obama was getting his experience as a "community organizer," he spent his time giving away public funds hand over raised fist to radical Leftist groups.

On the other hand, Sarah Palin was getting experience turning away public funding for unnecessary projects, and saving the taxpayers money where ever possible.

Who do you want with their hands on the nation's purse strings?

MC K is wrong again
We Dems are not makind "scurrilous accusations", as MC K puts it. In fact, it's (i.e. it is) clear that Palin was the most qualified Republican MC J could find to round out his hopeless ticket...

Oh, and the windfall that benefited the citizens of Alaska was the result of a new windfall profits TAX, supported by her. A tax that puts her in Obama's, not McCains, camp on this issue.

The real obama osama bin biden
http://www.rense.com/1.imagesH/birt_dees.jpg

Newly Found Outrage
It is amazing that the Democrats have finally found their outrage about inexperience. It is unfortunate that this new emotion was not present when they trotted out the minority candidates Obama and Clinton, neither of whom have ever had the responsibility of managing anything except their campaigns. Clinton couldn't even manage her home. Even though city administration is nowhere near as complicated as the administrative efforts of the President and Vice-President, it is work and requires a certain level of competence. It requires no competence at all to sit in the Senate and answer 'present.' Senators, individually, are not responsible for making major decisions. Mayors and governors are solely responsible for the impact of their decisions on peoples' lives. The libs can squawk all they want to but the fact remains that they have a bad candidate and McCain just picked a good one. They have played fast and loose with the nomination process and placed the nation at risk in the process. They need to remember that you can put lipstick on a pig but that doesn't make it a woman.

Karl: You Should Be Happy
if the McCain-Palin ticket is hopeless. Funny, conservatives were very pleased with Obama's choice of Biden.

Mountain Rose
Palin did not save taxpayers any money.

She was very vocal about killing the 'Bridge to Nowhere'--but DIDN'T return the money.

She also raised taxes on oil companies. Do you like that?

Watch this. you want this lady a heartbeat away from the presidency?

LOVE the essay!
Right on. Though I am saddened to learn about the sanctuary state part (if true). That's a shame.

But I wanted to chime in something I'm repeating a lot lately:

I was living in Illinois before Obama got the free-pass into office, and I was living in Illinois after he went to D.C.

NOTHING BUT NOTHING got any better that I noticed. NO improvements to our lives. No inspirational changes. I saw some stuff get worse, but I couldn't name a meaningful positive change enjoyed by his constituency.

Obama: Experience DOING what? Palin is genuine effective leadership compared to the Obama wind machine. And - they'll say she doesn't look like the guys on the dollar bills...

(P.S. I am running for KING. If you REALLY want some action: http://KINGoftheUNITEDSTATES.net)

Excellent - Excellent - Excellent
Absolute bullseye. I was going to write a similar blog post, but hey this way more than one person actually reads it !

Seriously though . . .

It is ultra important that this article be the context of the standard reply to the Democrat charge of Palin's inexperience. Too many have already accepted the premise that she is inexperienced - but McCain can mentor her.

In truth, Palin is a far more experienced executive than McCain. Not only has she governed a territory that is larger than all be 18 sovereign nations in the world - but she has done so in a dramatic and accomplished way.

Palin's not the least experienced person on the ticket, she's the only accomplished executive of all four.

The U.S. Senate is a deliberative, not a governing body. "Experience" in the U.S. Senate amounts to learning how to best maximize campaign contribution through the authoring and support of legislative items.

One of the requirements is that you provide proof of legal name, date of birth and social security number.
In order to get a social security number, you have to be a legal resident in the US.
And you have to surrender your out-of-country drivers license.

So legal aliens (i.e. legal US residents) can get a AK drivers license.

Whop-De-Do
She was mayor of village with population of 9000, and a Governor for 1.5 years of a state with a Population less than Dallas, TX.
Alaska has NO SALES TAX
Alaska has NO STATE INCOME tax
Every Alaskan gets $3200 per year for just being there. How tough could the job of Mayor or Governor be? As for a being a reformer, she was for "THE BRIDGE TO NOWHERE" in 2006 while running for Governor and only became against it when it became a NATIONAL EMBARASSMENT.

The Choice
Hmmmm, let's see ... we have a Marxist, hiding in plain sight with an angry-arrogant-loud mouth-loose cannon as his VP ...and... a War Hero with SUPER WOMAN as his VP. I think I'll choose the latter. Ha Ha -- this is getting sooo FUN!!!

Character!
That says it all. Palin's got it. Can't define it, but I know it when I see it. So do most American voters. Which is why those four guys are on Mt Rushmore. Which is also why Obama will go the way of Dukakis, Clinton, Gore, and Kerry.

Gotta love the handles of some of these pro-choice libs that show up here: animalgirl, killer, roguecowboy. Makes me wonder if they're bragging or crying for help.

Mountain Rose asks
"Who do you want with their hands on the nation's purse strings?"

Sarah Palin, of course!

But that's only half the package. She holds, as this morning's paper put it, "biblical views" on abortion and same-sex marriage. (The headline was "Palin a better shot than Cheney." Arf! Arf! :)

So we have to choose between a communist and a christian, or, if you prefer, someone who make my financial decisions for me, or someone who will make decisions on my personal life for me. Given that McCain is 72 years old, his VP pick was all. He lost my vote. Such a damn shame.

Roguecowboy...
What is your point? Running a city or a state, regardless of size, comes with a host of responsibilities and tough decisions. Palin was well respected by the people that she governed because of her tenacious efforts against corruption. She even bucked her own party, proving that she is no hack.
She also is proud of her country and has a son ready to deploy to Iraq...putting her heart where her mouth is. Obama on the other hand is a good orator and charismatic, not much else.

They've aleady moved on to slime phase 2
"Never has such a scurrilous set of accusations been less founded."

No, they've done a lot worse since then, i.e. the smear jobs on her youngest child and her oldest daughter.

We've got a long way to go before the Democrat slime bucket is emptied out.

They are scared.

Palin's integrity?
In no less than her acceptance speech, borrowing words from Bill Clinton, she asserted that she had emphatically said No Thank You to the 'Bridge to Nowhere'.

It has been widely reported that she in fact supported the bridge while running for Govenor, but beyond that, she never said no thank you to that money. It's sitting in the state coffers as we speak, and to my knowledge Palin has made zero effort to send the money back.

Lefty's
That continue to point to Obama and Bidens senatorial background drop it already. Being a member of the democratic lead house or senate is not something to brag about. The have accomplish absolutely nothing they promised to and have perhaps the lowest approval rating in history. In Obama's case, this is the sum total of his national political experience.

Not very impressive, is it?

Experience
Obama and Biden have 38 years combined experience imitating Cicero at meaningless committee meetings, and meeting the Depressed on Sunday mornings.

Obama has not authored a single piece of significant legislation, and his only foray into bipartisanship was a bill so innocuous it passed on a voive vote.

Sarah was mayor of 8000 before becoming Governor. That hidden gem of the Senate, Joe Biden couldn't even muster 8,000 votes in the primary.

Sarah actually beat an incumbant from her own party to win the governorship.

Obama has his opponents thrown off the ballet, fall prey to a conveniently timed revalation of kinky sex practices, and capped off his crusade to glory by beating Marvin the Martian for his Senate seat

Sounds good, Billa...
...but we are talking about POLITICS. The unfortunate truth is there probably hasn't EVER been a ticket that could claim such lofty attributes. Especially when you consider how many politicians began their careers as lawyers!

(When DID we decide lawyers are worthy of public trust??)

Actually, Palin is a liar
The more I think about it Palin deliberately gave the impression that Alaska didn't take the money when in fact it is sitting in state coffers as we speak.

This just gets better and better. Palin is a godsend to the Dems.

Why Palin?
Since when are we Republicans advocates of "windfall taxes" on oil companies? When did that become an attribute to tout as an example of good judgment of a conservative? It seems like everyone is just grasping for reasons to justify this mind blowing selection. As a Republican who has become disgusted with our party this selection makes me even more jaded. Does anyone SERIOUSLY think that if Governor Palin were a man that there would be anyone suggesting that Governor should be the nominee? If you can't honestly make the case for picking that male governor than there is no reason that Republicans should act like Democrats and make important selections simply because of someone's sex or race.

MellorSJ2 and Bryce
Palin is everything you hate. Mellor, where have you been since you were spanked so badly on your posting lies a few weeks ago? I was looking for you to thank you for allowing yourself to be so smoked so badly as to disappear with your tail between your legs. And that was appropriate considering your vitrol..

Disagree with her as you do, but keep this in mind. If McCain is elected, she is a presidential candidate in waiting, and she has none of the baggage Clinton has.

Hillary can not compete with her among the electorate. Stand by, she also does not accept your homoesexual militant views MellorSJ2. Stand by to be marginalized come November.

Hola, Anderson659!
Taking a break from posting porn, eh?

Actually bryce1 is a lia..misinformed.
As are most of you libs frothing at the mouth over Governor Palin's selection as the Vice presidential candidate by John McCain.

As a gubernatorial candidate she expressed qualified support for the Ketchikan and Anchorage bridge projects that were under consideration as part of a package of proposed Alaskan transportation projects that included federal funds already appropriated. The bridge projects would only be completed if additional state and federal funds were added later.

When as Gov. it became apparent the additional funds to be earmarked were tied to unreasonable, mandatory expenditures (eg for the "Ted Stevens Airport") and that that would have threatened the state funded portion of projects she felt were more important she told her own Senator "Thanks, but no thanks".

Something experienced executives have to do all the time. Something mere candidates and most Democrats have a hard time grasping.

Nonsense neoOtter
If I report to you that I said No Thank You to an offer, implicit in that reporting is my refusal to accept was what being proferred.

Either Palin knew that money was in the state coffers when making her a liar, or she did not know, making her an incompetent.

Is Palin A Liability..I Think Not
According to Zogby 8/30/2008, the latest nationwide survey begun Friday afternoon after the McCain announcement of Governor Sarah Palin as a running mate and completed mid-afternoon Saturday, shows McCAIN/PALIN at 47% compared to support for OBAMA/BIDEN at 45%.

http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews1547.html

43% of the respondents to the Zogby poll think Biden will help Obama; while 48% think he will either hurt him or make no difference.

52% of the respondents to the Zogby poll think Palin will help McCain; while 39% think she will either hurt him or make no difference.

Among Republicans the choice was a BIG hit with 87% saying it will help, to only 3% saying it will hurt.

The interactive survey shows that 22% of the voters who supported Hillary Clinton in their caucuses and primaries earlier this year, are now supporting McCain.

Among those who said they shop regularly at Wal-Mart-a demographic group Zogby has found to be both "value" and "values" voters- Obama is getting walloped by McCain. Winning 62% support from weekly Wal-Mart shoppers, McCain wins these voters at a rate similar to what Pres. Bush won in 2004. Obama wins 24% support from these voters.
I wonder how many conservative votes Obama will get?

neoOtter
By the way, the real reason the bridge was never completed was because Congress would allow federal funds to be used only if Alaska doubled its' contribution from 40% to 80%.

Not an unreasonable requests for a state with 40 billion bucks in its' Permanent Fund I'd say.

If you want to talk issues neoOtter
Let's discuss the Permanent Fund. Alaska receives $1.84 from the Feds for every dollar it contributes in income tax. And yet, the 40 billion dollar Permanent Fund sits gathering interest because Alaska politicians don't have the political will to use it to get Alaska off the Federal dole.

I ask you, why should Alaska receive should a disproportianate share of Federal funding when its' Permanent Fund holds 40 billion dollars?

how CHARMING, "bryce1"

...if seeding "envy" doesn't work,

try "resentment"...that's the only point you seem to make.

If we are counting as *Experience* the running of the Harvard Law Review in university, well, I still have more experience than Obama; I ran a starship (the USS Private Enterprise) with a staff of over 100! In fact, I went on from there to run a Doctor Who organization with even more people in it than that, and published a magazine with an international circulation, all before I turned 30. I also had a fan club. For me.

As for Obama having *travelled the world*, I have not seen that he has been anywhere since he reached adulthood, save on his current American Idol Tour. I have been to 43 states, 3 provinces and 30 countries (I have been to England 15 times, France 6 times and Australia twice, besides) and visited all seven continents. My IQ is higher than Obamas, and so is my GPA. I know more ambassadors personally than he does (and way more race car drivers, American, Canadian and European) and probably have more friends around the world than he has too.

Vote for me for President.

The Commie Party
is depending on the MSM to carry their water for them on this stupid "experience" thing. The strategy of Stalin's Big Lie Technique. Well, the media is trying but I would bet the public is not buying it.

the experience thing
Let's see if I've got this straight. If, on the basis of "executive experience", Sarah Palin is more qualified than either Obama or Biden, doesn't this mean she is also more qualified than John McCain? I mean, shouldn't Palin be running for president instead of McCain?

Chris
Based on actual position on the issues alone I would say yes to that.

AudiR10: Resume or Personal's ad?
I too have a higher IQ than the annointed one and have been around the world.
I also like long walks on the beach, romantic candle lit dinners, snuggling by the fire, and kicking moonbat butt.

Can I be your veep?

Gov Palin
Gov Palin IS the modern Teddy Roosvelt!
reformer and short term Gov, but with true American grit and determination, called upon to be Veep on a GOP ticket. TR did great when he became Pres. He did have former military service in a war to qualify him as commander in chief,,but Palin at least has been the CoC of a state natl guard in a time of war wherein her troopers have been deployed to overseas fields of battle, and that's much more than zero military service "Brother Barry" Obama!
Compare the pre-Veep similarities of TR and Palin; she's not a guy, but very similar in most respects!

Corndog
Our campaign would be a lot more interesting than Obamas for sure. We could do travlogues!

My request for votes was of course sarcastic; I have a couple of real jobs I like and would not want Sam Donaldson to unearth any photos of me in a Star Trek Uniform to shock the American Pee-Pul. However, the things that the Democrats are calling experience are things I have and Obama has not. They do not necessarily make someone either qualified or unqualified for President.

A modern-day Lincoln
Let us not forget one of our country’s finest presidents, Abraham Lincoln, who, like Sarah Palin, had little elected political office or foreign experience prior to becoming president of the United States of America, and yet the inexperienced Lincoln quickly proved to be one the most extraordinary leaders in our nation’s history while it was split asunder by a bloody civil war. And the similarities between the two are noteworthy: honest, high moral values, ambitious, frontier pluck and grit, hunters and athletic, no strong ties to Washington or connections to unsavory characters or confederations, Republicans, a parent, commoners who hobnobbed primarily with other commoners, worked in white and blue-collar jobs, born of undistinguished families, fighters against corruption and indignities, a belief in an Almighty, self-made, and conservative.

Palin has all the makings of becoming another Lincoln in modern-day America—what’s not to like about that?

Kevin the spin doctor
Two things about Palin: she did raise taxes when needed and while perhaps ethically challenged she apparentlty defended her family. The elderly McCain who Rush says served in Vietnam did not defended his daughter or family when they were viciously attacked by the Rove machine but bowed before them and serves them.

How long was Palin governor? Was it not less than Obama was Senator? What was the size of her town? What is her education? Did she not say big oil and the state should work much closer together. Ayers is old news and his incident was LONG ago; he paid his debt. If that is all you have then lie on and you folks are lying. The facts are McCain selected a rightwing conservative to pacify the extremists that he bowed to so long ago and a woman in a desparate "hail mary" attempt to gain female support.

Fit to lead? Old, confused McCain is a silver spoon old war hero who sadly is no longer fit to lead selecting Palin proves that

are you biting?
I start with the premise that all politicians are "dirty." The question here is who is dirtier? And the question to look into is how did one get to where they are....in which case, the great o takes the cake...worse though is he's trying to feed it to some of us.

GREAT if true TR is a father of modern labor. He traveled far and wide and I think he led the rough riders before he was VP but am not sure. TR was for all the people. Read his history I doubt you will like it. Palin appears to be a few things but TR not a chance

No Greater Contrast
The contrast between Sarah Palin and Barack Earbama highlight the fundamental differences in this election. Earbama, progeny of a clan of kooks, admitted high school drug abuser (dealer?), quota creature, and water carrier for the most corrupt Democrat machine since Tammany Hall Vs Sarah Palin, child of middle class America, star high school athlete, self made business woman, and courageous political reformer.

Audi the Trekkie
Sorry to hear that you're already taking your name off the ticket after only one hour, but I totally understand you're not wanting the left leaning sleeze balls (aka Main Stream Media) to start digging into our pasts.

Funny that you don't want that Trekkie photo exposed. I've always thought that obambi bore an uncanny resemblance to 'Quark'.

Palin is genuine.
Palin is a real person who has the right kind of values and judgment to be effective in the VP role, and yes, if need be, as President. I'd rather have her grounded moral patriotic conservatism governing her next move in the Oval Office in a crisis that the sticky fingers of Lord Obama any day of the year. Obama is a fraud, and I've thought that since he first announced his candidacy, when he hadn't even yet finished getting his newly-minted Senate office re-arranged...he is a neophyte who will freeze and let underlings tell him what to do next anytime he confronts a situation for which he has no pre-written script. He's as ungenuine as they come, and still can't shake his never-fully-explained past associations with people you or I would not sit down to dinner with, ever...so don't be so forgiving to the likes of Ayers, Wright, Farrakhan, and others. He's a child of entitlement, and thinks he deserves this job, however unqualified he is. He missed the slam dunk move of putting Hillary on his tickey...that would have almost guaranteed his November victory...(and, by the way, that's what JFK would have done, made the pragmatic - however cynical - and sure move to ensure the highest chance for victory...that what he did when he went against all voices including RFK, and picked Johnson ...but then, we all know that Barry is no Jack Kennedy!)
I'm a lifelong Democrat that is voting for McCain / Palin this fall...and I do that for the security of my country and my children's future, before those like Obama give it all away!

LMAO you invented the "Big Lie Technique" and now you are using it again with Ayers - stop whining it is unbecoming LOL

Judgment
As long as you people can keep this disucssion focsed on "experience," you win.

But, this choice dosen't say much about Gov. Palin.

The big story (which you Right-ies must deflect) is that it confirms my suspicions that Sen. McCain is reckless and dangerous, and has very little regard for anything but politics.

I never thought I'd agree with the hideous Charles Krathaumer, but I fear the's right on this one.

Wait a minute this is more than OK for the god Bush the torturer but not for Obama?

LMAO as opposed to silver spoon McCain who almost certainly would not have gotten into either Annapolis or flight school if he was not the silver spooned son of an extended family of admirals Heck what was his nick name in the Navy? the crown prince? But at least he is one silver spooned son who actually had the guts to go to his war rather than disappear from his guard flying unit like Bush the torturer

two points
Listen to the MONKEYS howling about experience. The state she ran was a hell of alot bigger than the one Billy boy ran.The problem is that these clowns are afraid of a real woman.

How's the kool-aid McCullough?
Wow, is this the best the righties can do?

On the experience issue. Obama has run a national campaign for the presidency for about a year and a half now. And by any measure possible, he has proven to be an outstanding executive. His campaign has run like the proverbial well-oiled machine. It has been pretty near flawless. And he has done this while under the white hot spotlight of the entire world's media. He's been tested and tested and tested. Obama has stood up to and defeated the Clinton machine who had help from Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and the rest of the right wing spin monkeys. Obama has demonstrated that he is a man of immense substance. Palin? Not so much.

Also, this Ayers thing. What a joke. Obama first met the guy years after he had turned himself in and reformed himself into a respectable professor of education. the idea behind these attacks seems to be to imply that Obama supports domestic terrorism; which is so far out of whack, I don't know how any one can take it seriously.

And wait til you folks figure out that Palin is lying about opposing the bridge to nowhere. She was for it, up until it became a national joke.

It also appears that she shares Cheney's penchant for abusing her power for personal reasons, like getting her brother-in-law fired.

She is cute and charming. Other than, what is it that qualifies her?

Phylo out.

You make my point
Hal Donahue makes my point. Experience is about leadership not one's source of education. Also, the characteristic of the liberal is ideology, where Harvard and IVY league law schools are the centers of ideology, and liberalism.

Note Hal's recurring comment about "well educated" "smart". Yes, Lincoln was lawyer by profession, not by any formal education, any college education.

Palin received a Bachelor of Science degree in communications-journalism from the University of Idaho, where she also minored in political science. But Idaho education cannot compare to New York, California, or Florida when it comes to two year Governorship experiences. She is not "Smart", not "educated".

Thrilled to have Gov Palin...
on the ticket! Not because she is a woman but because she is a real person. What you see is what you get. Her skills as a "can do" person have come from the experiences that life has given and taught her, always rising to the challenges at hand.

McCain/Palin = Victory '08

Interesting!!

Remember how big a deal the left made of Cheney's deferments in the Vietnam war.

Just read in my local liberal newspaper that GUESS WHAT?

Biden had the same number of deferments before he got a physical DQing him for the draft.

Speaking of glass houses.

Dems and the "SHE" factor
My only comment is that if the Dems think the "Experience" issue is "off the table" with the selection of Palin, then that must mean, in their minds, Obama and and Palin are equal. While there is nothing further than the truth, the fact remains that if they think that the "Experience" argument doesn't apply to either Obama OR Palin, then what do you think is their REAL reason for saying "SHE" is "unqualified"? Gee, do you think it MIGHT just be the same reason they decided "MRS." CLINTON wasn't WORTHY of their vote?

Go McCain/Palin
Sarah Palin will beat the socks off the Obama/ Biden (2 elists) and what's more, she'll do it with grace and style. She's one classy lady!!!

Actually, KMC said it BEST: "Only a fool

would question Sarah Palin's experience as a basis for her readiness to be Vice-President..."

Except that Ret.Geek (#8) does provide a rather lengthy list of things that Gov. Palin is lacking.... :-)

For the Messiah lovers....
Yea, its real "tough" running a campaign. And those "evil doers" "Hannity" and "Limbaugh" with their nuclear armaments wow what a man to face down such an existential threat! Is this the same Obama who won't appear on the O'Reilly Factor? Is this the same Obama who stammers with uh... oh... and ugh... when asked a yes or no question? Oh, and Ayers---September 11th 2001 (remember that day??) "I wish we had done more" as far as bombing and terrorizing. Yea, he was REAL reformed I think NOT! Obama's immense "substance" is as a Chicago machine socialist who views babies out of the womb as potential victims of the bash on the back of the head to suck their brains out! He tells us that he wouldn't want his own daughters to have the "burden" of a baby. Oh, and he sat in the pew of a man who hates on the basis of race and calls his own country on the carpet for 9/11- Oh I know Obama wasn't there that day-I forgot! Hamas loves Obama, so does Daniel Ortega. Iran is a little country we need not fear according to the Messiah. -- In essence: the far left spin monkeys have been very busy with their making this guy even SEEM like a respectable human being- I mean being that he can't define what exactly human is and when it begins it's a huge job for the Daily Kos and Huffington morons. Get back to your attacks on some insignificant event in Palin's background while you eat whole the filth of what the Messiah stands for.

Hey Hal

You forgot “water carrier for the most corrupt Democratic machine since Tammany Hall. However, I am sure being the personal legislative representative of Jesse Jackson and Dick Daly is adequate preparation for the presidency.

As far as hero worship goes I hope most Americans still admire individuals that are self reliant, courageous, and live their convictions.

BTW, I don’t know if you have noticed, but George Bush is not on the ticket.

Reappearing Posts....
Apologies, every time I refresh my post gets posted again?????

I give up
I give up. I cannot take this dueling windmills any more. I have tried to shift the emotional subject from Obama vs Palin, to shifting the debate to the criteria of what makes for needed experience, to define and describe needed experiences, and to looking at actual history.

To the intellect worshipping liberals it is all about needing to be "well educated", smart, intellectual. It is IVY League law schools versus general state colleges. To some, needed experience is time spent in the legislative bodies as lawyers, debating law, setting in committee's haggling over words on paper.

To me it is experience in leadership roles, in executive postions making hard daily decisions, like VP's, Cabinet Members, Governors, Generals, and CEO's. It is that world that maybe only one in a thousand fully grasp.

CEO's, Governors, and Generals are conductors, like e-ducators, they duct, they channel the best out of subordinates to successfully accomplish an end. An average conductor can create noise out of a great orchestra. An excellent conductor can make harmony out of an inadequate orchestra. Time has nothing to do with leadership qualities.

Posters to only visit TH to sit for hours composing what they believe to be witty insults, revealing their essential lack of information, and displaying their abundant and fathomless hatred for over one-third of Americans.

Nobody comes to TH expecting a mature debate.

To Anne, on "She is not smart"
This was not my opinion but a response to liberals like Hal Donahue who worships the brain. It was my response to Hal's rebuttal to my history of top ten Presidents. I noted Hal's obsessive criteria with "well educated", which is the obsession of the typical liberal. It is Hal who suggests Palin is not "well educated", In their giant elitest ego's, liberals are smart, conservatives are dumb. Gore and Kerry are smart. Bush is dumb. Obama is smart. McCain is dumb.

Read Hals's comments on liberal praised qualities.

Experience at the TOP of the Ticket
Nice try on behalf of all of you who are trying to convince people that experience is better at the bottom of the ticket instead of the the top. How idiodic is that. Each time the dems try to sling mud such as McCain's age and health you just draw more attention to Biden's age and two aneurysms. Every time you bring up Sarah Palin's "lack" of experience you draw more attention to Obama's. Don't you see how rediculous your arguments are? McCain does have the experience to lead reform in this country and Sarah Palin makes the ticket complete. Just like the dems are thrilled about the hurricane hitting this week, I'm sure they are secretly hoping that McCain (because of his age) will not fulfill his term. Every American should be offended at this discrimination of both age (McCain) and sexism regarding Palin. Obama is a community organizer with no legislation sponsored and his ratio of even voting on bills pales in comparison to the change Sarah Palin has contributed. You, Dems, know this and that's why you are so desparate to make up lies and sling mud pies.

Hmmmmm.......
Methinks it will be a fine day after the election is decided and all the Obamabots are left to cry in their milk after their beloved "messiah" bites the dust.

LOL, the theme song for the Democrats this year should be "Another One Bites The Dust" by Queen.

Gore, Kerry, and now Obama.

And as for Veeps, Joe will "biden" da dust too, LOL.

Rowel G
"In their giant elitest ego's, liberals are smart, conservatives are dumb."

LOL. This reminds me of seeing a bunch of pencils that McCain's campaign handed out to children that were imprinted "student's for McCain".

It doesn't take a giant ego to think conservatives are dumb, it just takes a quick peruse of TH each morning.

PS. Apostrophes are never used to indicate the plural form, only the possessive.

Actually,
Liberals don't judge people on whether their grammar is perfect, but how fast they hold onto weak ideas (i.e., Obama is a gay communist drug dealer muslim who is going make a gulag out of our country) without ever questioning them.

A smart person is not afraid to challenge his own notions, and does not have to support his views simply by insulting those who don't hold them.

The truth is, Anne is your poster girl for TH rational and deep thought. Sorry.

Ivey League Eduation

Today’s reality is a so called Ivey League education is the sole preserve of wealthy liberals and their minority puppets. Working/middle class whites need not apply. I am sure in the fantasy world of the socialist intelligentsia a degree from Yale or Princeton should be the only ticket for admission to political office. However, this is still the United States where at least fifty percent of us believe our leaders should be selected based upon their courage and character rather than their alumni status, skin tone and sexual preferences.

Re: Don Juan-IL
I could have expected a guy like you to trivialize McCain. I wonder what you've done in your life in your glass house, while you throw your insignificant stones?
As you take McCain to task,be fair (if you can) and give a shot to Biden...he's certainly a lesser man than McCain.
And, your Mickey Mouse junior US Senator from your closet Commie state, what about his deficiencies? Where would we even start to enumerate those? Senators just don't amass executive experience, especially a fake like Obama who's spent about 140 days in all on the job...mostly voting present! McCain is a man who makes a statement, doesn't dodge issues for the sake of a sterile, undistinguished record. And, he's never plagiarized, he's the original Annapolis maverick. I've done some flying in my time, and it's obvious you have no intimate knowledge of it. Firstly, it demands a person capable of instant and correct judgment, that's how critical it gets. It's quite different than sitting at the relative safety of your PC.
Yeah, you're a "Don Juan" alright, but life's a damn sight more serious than that. Get a life and get over your self-importance and lack of accomplishment,Don Juan!:):) I can imagine a jerk who calls himself Don Juan. Get with an analyst, you're a bitter lad.

McCullough's opening sentence
"Only a fool would question Sarah Palin's experience as a basis for her readiness to be Vice-President,"

Need I say more? McCullough, in one sentence, has demonstrated everything I wrote above.

A Problem
I am beginning to have a problem with this descriptive term "elite". def. The choicest part of a particular social group. The part of society that this term has previously referenced is in NO WAY better or more elite than the rest of us. How many of us have known the really booksmart people whose lives were an absolute mess. In particular I would say that todays so called "ivy league" schools are only teaching revisionism and socialism that fosters this notion that only those that graduate from these socialist factories are capable of leading us. NObama is a product of these factories. Lets see....in a life or death battle who would I depend on...NObama or McCain.

To Don Juan on experience.
"By that standard, John McCain has no relevant experience"

You are absolutely correct. That is why this election is a tough one. This election needs to debate more on values, forgetting leadership experiences and idologies. Churchill has shown that great leaders are more than the sum of their occupations. Character counts!

Facts are that Palin has more leadership experiences than the other three. I think looking at the future Governor leadership candidates across the 50 states, Palin is in the top five. I don't see much on the horizon for the next election go around either. Hilary direct from the Senate? Again, historically, Presidents arise from State Governorships.

As I have stated in previous posts, excluding Lincoln who went from the House of Rep to the White House, only four Presidents of the 43 have gone direct from Senate to the White House without going through some VP or Cabinet executive experience. None performed in the top 20! Kennedy was the last one. Two died in office. This year, three of the four on the ticket are coming out of the Senate, ever before in history. That is the real history being made, finding a Senator who can make the top 20 Presidents list.

Newcomer on who is dumb
"It doesn't take a giant ego to think conservatives are dumb"

To Newcomer of Minnesota, the liberal land that gave birth to the communist movement in America via the 1930's Farm Labor Party, and merged into the Democrat party by Hubert Humphrey in 1950's. Focus on history, not grammer.

Newcomer liberal logic says USA has been dumb 64% of its history. Democrat presidents have been in office 36% of the time. Only 14% in the top ten. Non-Democrats ahve been in office 64% of the time, with 27% in the top 10. Dumb people electing dumb presidents 64% of the time? More proof that liberal heads are driven by emotions and the worship of ideas, not reasoning powers, not historical evidence and proof.

newcomer Confuses Liberals&Conservatives
newcomer offers, "Liberals don't judge people on whether their grammar is perfect,"

Are you serious? It is a rare Conservative to be teaching grammar.

Yo newcomer
I notice you haven't had anything to say in response to the slapdown you're getting.

C'mon, kid, are ya a man or a mouse?

Squeak up!

Hold on a sec!

I don't know if these issues have been raised, but this column is ridiculous.

She's Governor of a state with a population less than that of the City of Los Angeles.

She's "commanded the Alaska National Guard"? You kidding me? By THAT standard Bill Clinton was a military master, as HE "commanded" the entire US Armed Forces.

"She has had to deal with international issues relating to the stewardship of territory with two nations that bordered her state - Canada and Russia."

WHAT "international issues"? Hell, a LOT of states border other nations.

"She bopped the oil companies on the nose. And when she felt they were soaking the American gasoline consumer - and her oil rich state reaped the windfall - she returned those monies to the people of Alaska in the form of an individual tax-refund of $1200 per person this summer."

And that's a GOOD thing? Sounds to me like it's right out of the Pelosi/Reid/Obama Playbook.

The Oscar Meyer factory couldn't pump out this much baloney if they went on double shifts.

WHY THE LIBERALS ARE UPSET ABOUT PALIN
The liberal democrats are upset about Sara Palin because they KNOW RIGHT DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF THEIR TOES that she is just what was needed to get the republican campaign going. People like me who have been life long republicans and swore to not vote for John McCain and had planned to vote for Bob Barr will now vote for sara Palin and hold our noses and grudgingly accept McCain.

It is precisely because Palin points out the hyprocracy in the liberal democrats saying they support women, but then fail to follow through on the promise, and then the republicans do it, that causes the liberal democrats to be angry and attack her. Many women are now going to see who actually represents opportunities for women and that is why the democrats are so upset about Palin. Americans see who walks the walk and who talks the talk.

And last, they KNOW Sara Palin represents a HOME RUN for McCain and the republicans and that she will put them into the White House in the next election. BOY!!! THAT just burns their liberal butts!!!

Ayers Never Convicted
One small point of fact. William Ayers is NOT a "convicted" terrorist. He skated on those charges owing to prosecutorial misconduct. His wife, Bernadine Dohrn, is a convicted terrorist who did time. Obama's bagman, Rezko, is a convicted felon. William Ayers is simply an unrepentant terrorist, "we didn't do enough."

As to Governor Palin's experience, she's the only cat herder in the race. The two Democrats have been lifelong legislative politicians with no life experiences outside of that. McCain has had a wealth of other experiences in addition his lengthy legislative time.

BrianR
Man, who pissed in your wheaties this morning?

Look, Palin was a bold as well as a good choice for McCain to make, and it has most of us conservatives feeling good or at least better about the Republican ticket this election.

Allow us our enthusiasm, huh?

The liberals are griping and whining and trying to slam Palin enough without having a fellow conservative do the same thing.

Lighten up, alright man?

Retired Geek @ 8:51pm...

Excellent! A must Read :)

Curtal, be as enthusiastic
as you want. Just don't make stuff up.

The column was absurd, and everything I wrote is correct.

The only thing he left out was the color of her cape when she dons her superhero costume.

Hey, if you want to vote for McCain, that's cool. But don't kid yourself that anything has changed from a week ago. He's still pro-amnesty, a "climate change" nut who wants Cap and Trade, the author of McCain-Feingold, and against drilling in ANWR and developing oil shale. Her nomination didn't change any of that, and it's HIM who'll be sitting in the Oval Office making the decisions, NOT her.

No - BrianR
"Stuff" was not made up...

And if you so oppose McCain, what is the better option in this election?

The Messiah?

Absurd Article
If Democrats had nominated someone with the meager credentials of Sarah Palin, the Republicans would have been been outraged and accused Democrats of not being concerned about national security. Palin's experience is laughable and that is being kind. She was Mayor of a town so small, I had a hard time finding one that size in California. Most midlevel managers of corporations have more spending authority than Palin did as Mayor. She has been Governor for only 20 months of the 47th largest state in the union, has zero foreign policy experience, has a major legislature inquiry hanging over her head, thinks global warming is a hoax, wants to take polar bears off the endangered species list, believe's it's ok to shoot wolves from helicopters, and is rabidly anti-choice on abortion. She is not ready for prime time.

If I wanted a black president,
I'd move to Africa. If I wanted a marxist/communist president, who'd tax me to death, I'd move to Cuba. If I wanted a Muslim for president, I'd move to Iran. If I wanted all of the above, I'd stay here and vote Obama/Biden ...or not vote at all.

BrianR
The article is about Palin's experience as compared to Obama's.

Just the fact that she is the governor of a state gives her more executive experience than Obama has ever had.

And you can point to the fact that population wise, Alaska is not as big as other states, but that does not make that much of a difference, because a small town mayor would have more leadership and executive experience than would Obama.

Well, KMC (Kevin)

Your column was "made up" in the sense that what you wrote is pure "spin" that in no way reflects any kind of reality at all.

As to this election: we have a race between Liberal and Liberaler. A pox on both their houses.

This is the same track down which California's traveled for the last couple of decades, and I'm not playing anymore.

The GOP didn't learn thing one from their spanking in 2006. Evidently they need to be beaten like a borrowed mule. So be it. I'm willing.

Maybe, as in 1992, when the 2X4 hits them upside the head, they'll finally wake up. Historically the GOP tracks ever-left until they lose a big one. Carter gave us Reagan, and 1992 gave us the 1994 Contract With America sweep of Congress.

If Obama wins, the GOP is much more likely to oppose him in Congress than they will when McCain proposes HIS liberal policies, like Cap and Trade and amnesty -- together a sure economy-killing combination for this country. After all, McCain's "one of them" and the titular head of the party.

If this country's going down that road, MUCH better the people responsible have a "D" behind their names than an "R".

MY bottom line: I don't vote for liberals ...EVER. I don't care what letter they stick behind their name.

BrianR. I genereally agree with just
I'm pragmatic enough to know that with Obama we'll be a third world country within a matter of a few years. At least with Sarah Palin ready to step into the presidency we have a chance of retaining our country. I don't see it as a vote for McCain, I see it as a step toward our former greatness.

.......
---If Democrats had nominated someone with the meager credentials of Sarah Palin, the Republicans would have been been outraged.......Bobzmcishl----

The leftist dolts are still trying to convince the public not to believe their lying eyes. Dummy, Palin has more experience than the last two donk VP candidates- Edwards and Biden- combined.

Humor me moron, what qualifications or experience does obama have to be President?

Previous post should read. BrianR.
generally agree with just about everything you post, but not this time. I'm pragmatic enough, etc... Sorry.

MotCrue

Hey, if you're happy with your vote, no argument from me. That's great!

Just realize that, as I've written so many times lately, nothing has changed from a week ago. Palin's meaningless, because McCain's still the guy in the Oval Office, while the VP's office is across the street in the OEOB, usually counting rubber bands or something.

Anybody seen Cheney since he shot his buddy duck-hunting?

He still in a "secure undisclosed location"?

BrianR
I'm not happy with McCain, but I refuse to cause harm to my country just because I'm not happy with the Republicans right now.

You can say we'll survive an Obama presidency, and that is mostly true, but Carter did irreparable damage to the country.

Clinton instituted polices that hurt us as well, and we're still seeing the fallout from that.

How badly will Obama hurt our nation?

He's a globalist, he could care less about our sovereignty. At least McCain will be strong on defending our country and standing up to our enemies.

Do you really want Obama to be the one who answers the phone at 3 a.m. and have to deal with a muslim attack somewhere, maybe on home soil?

Brian, I respect your viewpoint, and I do sypmathize, for I struggled with the idea of McCain as the Republican candidate, but I also place my land above the Republican party.

Hands down, Obama will be very bad for us, and I'll be d*mned if I take part in putting him into power.

EXPERIENCE? WHO, ME?
I don't need no stinkin' experience. I'm the Messiah...plus I'm black. And those people who question my experience are a bunch of honky rednecks racists...and...and...er...bitter gun-clingers and bible readers. All you infidels are going to hell anyway, so vote for me. I'll lead you there in a hurry. I'm Barack Hussein Obama, and I, er, approve of this tirade...er message.

.......
BrianR, I agree with you about McCain. Normally I wouldn't vote for him under any circumstances but this is not a normal election; the democrats have nominated the most extreme leftist from the bottom of the barrel who unabashedly espouses marxist views to a slack jawed clapping audience.

Either McCain or obama will win. We both know who would be far worse. If your logic is let obama win which will lead to a Conservative presidency in 2012, as it did after the 4 devastating years under carter, I would say that's not a sure bet. Your assumption is the donks are reasonable and would see the error of their ways. That will not happen with this leftist gaggle of tree hugging hermaphrodites.

Vote McCain then battle him on the issues. We can only hope Palin will be a Conservative voice in the White House who will help persuade McCain to do the right thing.

Curtal

You wrote: "I also place my land above the Republican party."

Me, too, and I view McCain as the greater long-term threat to the country.

HE'S the one who claims he's "redefining" conservatism and the GOP. THAT'S the greater threat, because conservatism doesn't NEED "redefining". HE'S also the one with a greater likelihood of getting his liberal economy-killing policies passed, because congressional GOPers won't oppose HIM; he's one of "their own".

That's why I don't vote for liberals from EITHER party, as I wrote earlier.

BTW, Clinton turned out to be pretty harmless. The mid-terms in 1994 which gave the GOP congressional control pretty much neutralized him for the rest of his administration.

It even forced him to sign some fairly decent legislation into law.

Further, all the hysteria of 2006 turned out to be pretty baseless, too, didn't it? Pelosi/Reid haven't managed to get almost anything passed, and they've managed to drive congressional approval ratings into single digits. Quite an accomplishment!

palin experience?
Looks like the Palin women are plenty experienced, if not in politics at least in sex.

.......
----Pelosi/Reid haven't managed to get almost anything passed,......-----

BrianR, that's because there's a Republican president to veto their pork laden bills that fleece the public and enrich their puppet masters coffers. With a donk as President and a donk controlled congress they'll have free reign to implement their socialist agenda at our and the nations expense.

.......

I would like to invite you to come hang out.

If you're interested, post a junk email and I'll send you instructions on how to get there.

We take extra precautions to keep the trolls out, lol.

Well, Satan

Actually, it's because the congressional GOPers and the Blue Dog (Southern conservative) Democrats have been blocking any meaningful liberal legislation from going anywhere after the two Scmanesty fiascos.

That's what WON'T happen with McCain-proposed liberal legislation such as Cap and Trade, amnesty (again, and promised by McCain), and continuation of drilling bans in ANWR and blocking of oil shale development.

Higene
What's ridiculous about you and the other libs who are trying to trash Palin is this:

Palin ain't running for president, McCain is.

Obama ain't going up against Palin, so why compare the two?

Whatta maroon!

Yeah, I've gotta say
that "commanded the National Guard" line was laugh-out-loud hilarious.

That makes every Governor in the country a "military expert".

She wouldn't know enfilading fire from a chili chimichanga.

By the same token, Curtal

Why are all you McCain supporters so ecstatic about his choice of her, then?

Good Christian Experience
Teen daughter knocked up, husband with DWI arrests, wanting fed dollars (aka BIG GOV) then denying them (aka Flip Flopping). Yep, she's a Republican.

Maybe it will come out next that one of her cousins explicitly solicites teen pages via text messages or one of her uncles was soliciting gay sex at an airport bathroom. Was it Sarah that was having the affair with Newt Gingrich, or was she the one having an affair with Guliani?

And the beauty of it is, all the right wingers will fall down defending her. We now know what one has to do to appeal to "values" voters.

Higene writes:
"War or no war, universal health care or none, Maternity choice prohibition of choice, the fight against global warming or 'burn baby burn'. Those are the issues that will determine the outcome of this election, assuming the GOP doesn't try to steal it like the last two."
----------------------------
How can I put this? Let me count the ways, bonehead.

(a) "War or no war." Go cower in the corner. We'll do the fighting for people like you, just as we always have.

(b) "Universal health care." You really mean socialized health care. Go live in Cuba. See how you like it.

(c) "Maternity choice." You really don't have the courage to spell it out, do you? It's called abortion on demand, anytime anywhere. You want to kill your child. Go democrat.

(d) "Global warming." Biggest scam there ever was.

(e). Stealing elections? Check out Obama's connection to ARCON, if you want to know about stealing votes.

Absurd Article

He's a globalist, he could care less about our sovereignty. At least McCain will be strong on defending our country and standing up to our enemies.

````
McCain is a globalist too. We have to choose between a Marxist globalist (Obama) and a Fascist globalist (McCain).
“Fascism should more properly be called corporatism, since it is the merger of state and corporate power.” Benito Mussolini
````

McCain is a globalist stooge. Cap and trade is just a socialist/Fascist scheme to ration energy and it will kill the middle class. But that is the point. The bankers/multinational corp (globalists) own the government.

I will say Palin was a brilliant choice politically.

Bush was supposedly "babies, guns, Jesus". Turns out he is a traitor scumbag who has been working for the destruction of our country from day one and for the NAU.

The people pulling the strings are not going to drop the ball and let this one slip through their fingers. There is a real possibility McCain will drop dead. I'd like to believe Palin is a true patriot and not for the "new world order". Only time will tell.

I didn't much enjoy getting sucker punched by Bush.

I do think McCain is less evil than Obama. I don't think Obama even likes America. But both are globalists. I will be very surprised if we do not get the NAU with the next president no matter who wins.

Pot meet kettle.
Seems to me that Obama's mother was only 17 when he was born, and to a bigamist for a father. Does that make Obama a b@stard for real, or just one by nature?

Angry liberals, truth hurts
What really pains the liberal, the truth that hurts most is that everyone, even the media, is talking about Palin, not Obama. Polls show that the Democrat Convention last week gave Obama little or no bounce, just as his Europe trip. Facts are stubborn things. Political history says that if Obama does not have a 10-15 point lead after this weeks convention, he is in big trouble. They know from history that many who publically say they will swing with the gang, don't when they are alone, pulling the lever.

Watching CPAN call-in's moments ago, one liberal bashed Palin for having to learn about the pregnant daughter from the media, not herself. Moments later, another liberal bashed Palin for publically releasing private family information on her daughter, dispelling web rumors that the daughter was the actual mother of her 5th child.

It sounds like the 17 year old daughter will get married, get no abortion. Maybe she will become a celebrity role model like Britney Spears 16 year old pregnant sister Jamie Lynn.

BTW! Thanks a lot for killing our pet mouse (Wirs). We (WBABT cat's)were having so much fun playing him to death and you spoiled our fun.

I don't know about Obama
I can't believe anything he says and when compared to Palin for experience, even though they're running for different offices, he comes up severly lacking.

Even Biden can't match her for experience.

Hahahaha, Anna! Sorry about that!

But that Wirs was such an obnoxious, hypocritical, and sanctimonious schmuck I just couldn't stand him.

He couldn't even spell or use grammar properly.

I should have had him arrested for Linguicide.

BrianR
I might be able to forgive you someday.

That wheaties comment WAS pretty funny......just gotta love guys.

Newcomer
Whats the matter nocumer, You upset you aint got no experience in the sexual arena.
Yea I know it was your first time. It was dark, you were scared, and you were ALONE. Just as you are now.

Don't forget Governor
Palin's twenty years of small business experience in commercial fishing. The Demo ticket has zero business experience. Small business is the leading employer in the country, and hands-on business experience is invaluable when crafting tax, benefits, and any other business related legislation. Small business owners and employees can rely on their point of view being considered with Palin in the McCain administration. Biden and Obama have never run much of anything other than their mouths.

Anna and BrianR
Listen, I like and respect both of you, but I think you've allowed yourselves to be blinded by ideology.

I too do not like the Republican party's path of like, but I refuse to hurt America for the safe of the Republican party.

Curtal, again

Stop with the "hurt America" rhetoric. That stuff may work on some people, I guess, but I find it absurd.

Frankly, I can turn that right around on you and say that YOU'RE hurting America by letting a liberal trying to stealth by as a Republican/"conservative" lie his way into the White House.

I already addressed that back with my 1:34PM post.

Ok Brian - let's try this again...
And try not to be such a flatulent bloviator when you respond...

You don't support McCain fine.

Tell us oh brave one - who WILL you vote for, because as an American - you have a responsibility to do so - or shut the heck up!

No vote, no right to complain...

Hahahaha, Kevin!

Is that the "musclehead" part of your personality coming out?

I always know the other person has totally run out of intellectual ammo when all they can do is resort to childish name-calling.

In answer to your question, I'm voting for Barr. Do I expect him to win? Of course not. But he'll nicely serve the same purpose Perot's run did against Bush 1: a great tally for the GOP hacks to see where the votes went that COULD have gone to someone who's actually got some conservative chops.

Let me know if that's too "bloviatory" for ya. I can try to dumb it down some.

BrianR
I doubt that Obama is secretly a muslim who plans to do his part to turn the country into an Islamic nation, like some people fear.

However, there is just enough Islamic connection in his life's story that I am not willing to take the chance on Obama getting into the White House.

If he is friendly with our enemies, how much damage could be done?

Could have predicted it BrainR
BTW... please point out for all watching - where exactly I called you a name. I asked you to not be something - but didn't call you a name.

And yes I pretty much thought I could tell who you would be supporting. And I know that if Bob lost you his sheer percentage of voters would likely be cut in half.

But what BrianR is actually doing - and let's be clear to everyone reading - is covertly working FOR the election of Senator OBAMA.

For as much as you hate the things that even I have criticized McCain for, if Obama is elected this nation will be on the fastest track to far left socialism faster than anything you've ever seen - especially on the issues you care about.

It was the grassroots - that forced McCain to take Palin - proving that grassroots CAN have their voice heard.

Again - didn't call you a name, merely described your self-deluded righteousness, and NOW making it clear that BRAINR is working on behalf of OBAMA/BIDEN!

Well, Curtal

I have to say, that kind of thinking is beyond paranoid. It's irrational, so not something I even bother discussing.

I find conspiracy theories in general to be pretty much a waste of time.

Obama will be the Perpetual Campaigner
Obama was supposed to represent me as a Senator from Illinois for the past 2 years. He was never in the Senate to vote on anything. He has not done his job for the past 2 years. Why do you expect him to do anything except organize a campaign for the next 4 years?

If Democrats had nominated someone with the meager credentials of Sarah Palin, the Republicans would have been been outraged and accused Democrats of not being concerned about national security.

Ahhh Bob, the democrapts did EXACTLY THAT. We republicans are outraged that democrats have nominated a man weak on national defense and on everything else except that he is strong on adding more TAXES.

We have nominated a war hero and a soccer mom with a bible, a jeep, and a gun. Get over it. Let the American people decide as they surely will in November.

I suspect that many democrapts are having buyers remorse now that the two tickets have been established and clear lines between them are being drawn so that the people can see. Democrats suspect that they have the weaker ticket. I suspect they are correct. We'll see.

Well, Kevin

Let me answer your question first. You wrote that I'm "such a flatulent bloviator when you respond".

Is that not a name? "Flatulent bloviator"? So, if I call you a "shallow thinker", that's not a name, then, right?

Then this little gem: "But what BrianR is actually doing - and let's be clear to everyone reading - is covertly working FOR the election of Senator OBAMA."

Yes, yes, the other hoary old chestnut that always shows up when someone disagrees with the "party uber alles" types: the other guy's a Dreaded Liberal!

Is that the best you have, Mr. Musclehead? Do you actually get paid to have your column published on this site? Amazing!

Further, nothing I do is "covert". I've been writing on my own blog here at TH for TWO YEARS that if the GOP nominated McCain or Giuliani they'd be facing this problem. It's all right there, feel free to check. Did you guys pay attention? Nope. You were too busy chasing after some mythical and non-existent uncommitted "moderate" demographic to hear the warnings from the conservative base.

Well, now you get to pay the price for that.

And you should consider toning down your hysteria. It's not only hilarious, but it makes you look.... desperate.

There's an old saying here in Hollyweird: never let 'em see you sweat.

Need a towel?

BrianR
You have me wrongly pegged. I am not a conspiracy theorist, no more than you are a covert worker for Obama.

I don't believe that Obama has any kind of plot going.

What I am trying to get across, is by his own words, he is friendly, or potentially friendly, with Islamic powers, and wants to be thus when he becomes president. He's made no bones about that.

Nothing secret, or conspiratorial about that.

He is also a globalist who does not believe in American sovereignty. Again, by his own words and the actions he has undertaken.

Again, don't get me wrong. I don't believe there's a conspiracy, far from it. What I believe is that when it comes to the muslims, at best, Obama will be another Chamberlain.

For the record, I disagree with the posts that KMC has made to you. He is over the top.

I may disagree with you here, but I understand your viewpoint, for it used to be mine. Thus, I disagree with you, but I do respect you and your opinion.

Okay, Curtal

Sorry, I misunderstood. There are quite a few folks who post "conspiracy" accusations against both sides, and I usually just skim by those.

Well, as to Obama. I believe that the exigencies of world events are going to pretty much mandate our conduct in that arena pretty much regardless of who wins, in all honesty. Bear in mind, in his speech in LA, McCain really wasn't much better on the issue, calling for his "League of Democracies", which sounded a whole lot to me like the same thing Kerry called for during HIS run.

Iraq's already a done deal. They want us out of there, and it's not going to matter who's President.

Frankly, I'm not sure one is all that much better than the other on the issue -- well, I guess Obama's probably worse, okay -- but again, there are other issues that I find more pressing: oil, the economy, illegal immigration.

These have an immediacy that in my mind can't be denied.

As I wrote earlier, if you're happy voting for McCain, that's great! I mean that, and whenever I write that, it's ever some condescending or backhanded statement, or with some "hidden" agenda.

Thanks for the other support, too, BTW.

I alkways enjoy discussions with rational folks, regardless of their position.... even some of our resident libs! You and I have always had really good convos.

KMC, you are such a fraud
I have been watching the MSM ever since Palin was picked. I haven't seen a single instance where they MSM is anything but gushing about her selection. You faux conservatives have refused to engage we conservatives on issues from day one. In the beginning, it was about "electibility" because we couldn't afford to risk having Hillary win... "She's...she's... Hitler!!!!".

Well she lost to Obama and while you RINOs were dicking around, the Dems managed to select the GOP candidate too!

Now the game is to trash conservatives as being unreasonable extremists. Obama's election is the destruction of the country?? Get real!!! Have you checked the McCain? You obviously know nothing about Palin either! She is a sanctuary state governor who sees oil companies as evil and taxes their "windfall profits" so she can play Robin Hood and pay off her welfare-addicted Alaskan voters.

Like McCain, the corrupt Alaskan Republicans hate her but the corrupt Alaskan Democrats LOVE HER!!! Did you mention that?

If this was 1992, you would be saying the same things except Ross Perot would have made you look like a fool.

Look Kevin, a unicorn!!!
Wow, isn't McCain great? Not like Obama at all.

Pro-amnesty?
McCain...check. Obama...check.

Pro-"Cap and Trade"?
McCain...check. Obama...check.

Supports bringing troops home?
McCain...check. Obama...check.

Pro-life?

McCain...negotiable. Obama...no.

Supports big government?
McCain...check (see Cap and Trade). Obama...check.

Supports conservative judges?
McCain...no (Alito too conservative). Obama...no.

In fact, you nose-holding Republicans should just come out and say it. Obama is not as experienced and accomplished as McCain in furthering the liberal agenda but somehow the election of Obama means the destruction of Western civilization. What America do you live in? Probably the cartoon one.

Look out, here comes that ACME anvil.

Townhall is the GOP's Daily Kos
Drudge even linked to TH yesterday on the "left wing bloggers trash Palin" story.

Conservatives need to find a new place to meet. TH has been reduced to being a meeting place for cross-dressing liberal Democrats in denial.

Palin vs. Obama
I think it's funny that there is so much comparison between these two when it's Pres. vs. VP. There is one aspect of this debate I have not seen covered that I would like to see get more attention. Even if you can compare these two resumes now (which there really isn't too much to compare)if there is a time in the future where Palin has to step in as President she will have had time as V.P. which will make her light years ahead of Obama is now. Even if it's only 6-12 months as V.P. she will be WAY more qualified than Obama if he is sworn in this January (parish the thought).

That said I hope McCain can serve out his term, or terms if he wishes, in good health.

More counter spin for Kevin
Out of those "windfall profits" taxes Palin exacted from the hide of those "evil" oil companies (without increasing oil supplies by a single drop), she promptly gave a $500 million SUBSIDY to Canada's TransCanada Pipeline to keep even if the proposed pipeline doesn't get built.

And she just agreed to run with the very guy who is committed to making sure ANWR remains pristine. Was that smart? Do you think someone should dare to insult the new GOP Princess and confront her with a question?

And then there is that Mexican consulate being built to assist those MS 13 "freedom fighters".

Palin is the female version of the Governator, a glamorous liberal running posing as a conservative.

I agree with Politco. Selecting Palin was an act of desperation. When everyone's heads stop spinning from the toxic vapors, I expect the initial love-fest will wear off.

Obama is going to win, he will not win a mandate, and life will go on. Another conservative victory, just like November 2006.

Pasadena Phil: We can only HOPE
the Obambie love-fest will end sooner than the Palin love fest.

You Obambie supporters have gotten a free-ride from the press for two years now.

A win for McCain/Palin is a win for the American people vs. the MSM and the LIBERAL-ELITE establishment.

POWER TO THE PEOPLE!

BrianR - glad to see you agree...
No name calling...

Brian what you still fail to grasp is that every action you take has an opposite reaction. By voting for anyone other than McCain - you are casting a vote for Obama. GIVEN the the reality that all of the also rans will garner about 5% of the vote.

And the TRUTH is that while you spout off about your purist conservative doctrine - you're the guy that actually makes a less than 50% win possible for Obama.

I was as angry and disappointed as you that McCain was the best we could summon. But on my issues his stated plans are far preferable to Obama's.

And that is now where the election is at.

Your issues are oil, economy, and defense.

Mine are judges (life and marriage), energy, defense, and economy.

I hate McCain's immigration position - and I've written about it every bit as extensively as you.

Perhaps more so even - bc your blog has what 50 readers a day?

The point being - be as ticked as you want - and cuss and scream about purity for all you can - AS I DID - DURING the time when it is designed to be - during the primary.

The practical truth is - you're more comfortable with Obama winning than McCain - and still dare to call your views conservative.

It just doesn't add up dude...

Palin vs McCain..
KMC
based on your article, i suppose you think that this Arkansas governor is also more experienced than McCain himself. At least, i don't recall McCain ever having any executive powers.

ted
fool, the governor in question is the governor of alaska, not arkansas. arkansas is where troopergate (the real one) happened. that was bill clinton using the arkansas state police to aid and abet his sexual affairs while he was governor. if you keep your liberal fingers off the keyboard, not everyone will know how ignorant you are, ted from new york. lol. new york. that is where the voters elected a carpet bagger ex-first lady to be senator. go ahead and vote for obama, but if you dont tell anybody, they wont know you foolish you are.

sarah came just in time

Really; How our next President's timing makes a difference! His Veep announcement came only hours after the Bash for Barack in Denver. It would've seemed their DNC was a tour de force. But the news of Palin's place on the ticket snuffed out that flicker. --Good timing, Mac!

And, BTW-- where are all our American feminists?

For decades now we're being told a woman is merely ten times more able than any man. We were told men were superfluous on the face of the earth. Give the job to a woman, if we want it done well! How come they haven't yet told our pundits:

You need no experience to make the OBVIOUS, HUGE DIFFERENCE! You just need a woman for that post! Why aren't they doing the femmes' dithyramb around this big-time woman with an attitude ?

The perfect storm of all feminist opportunities is right in their faces! A marvelous candidate having every female qualification; her ranking superior the president looking old and feeble. She's riding shotgun next to practically a Methuselah.

What's not to like about it, by the gals at NOW?

Oh !~! ~~! They didn't care for the timing?

Well, Kevin

It doesn't really matter how many blog readers I have per day, as the point THERE was addressing your silly accusation that I'm some undercover Obama "operative". Pretty delusional stuff.

And in case you failed to grasp this, you're absolutely correct in your assessment that I prefer that McCain lose, for all the reasons I've stated many times on my blog, if you took the time to read any of the essays.

But I'll recap here for you. The only time the GOP gets the message that Rockefeller/Country Clubbism is not acceptable is when they lose a big one. Carter led directly to Reagan, and Clinton led directly to the 1994 Contract With America sweep of Congress predicated on true conservative principles.

That's historical fact.

You, on the other hand, take the position that it's okay to elect a liberal like McCain (a national arena Schwarzenegger) because somehow he'll see the light of conservatism once in office. There's no historical precedent for such a position. As a matter of fact, the historical record clearly indicates that whenever the GOP succeeds by drifting Leftward, they merely continue to do so.

Einstein wrote that the definition of insanity is continuing the same action while expecting a different result.

So, which of our positions is actually more in conformance with the historical record as to how to resurrect conservatism for the benefit of the country...... dude?

Further, Kevin,
the GOP hacks are evidently so dense they didn't understand the message that was sent pretty clearly in 2006 when they managed to lose both houses of Congress, and when they got spanked so hard for backing amnesty -- TWICE.

So, what did they do instead? Why, they rigged those primaries you seem so enamored of to minimize the influence of conservatives by holding open and winner-take-all events. To "broaden their appeal to independants". Well, there's a price for that when you take your base so much for granted.

Then they funneled their resources to the two candidates MOST likely to alienate the conservative base: first Giuliani, then McCain.

Well, now the time's come to pay the piper.

Pard, I'll tell you something I've said a thousand times at least: I'm a conservative first, and a Republican a far distant second and only as it serves my philosophy and ideology.

I don't owe them a thing. If they want my vote, they have to EARN it. I don't just give it away.

And the idea that McCain's "earned it" is simply beyond laughable.

What if McCain does NOT die?
McCain should give his Vice President the job of attack dog to ferret out wasteful spending, corruption, and incompetant bureaucrats. She has the experience and would have a fantastic impact on our economy and the function of government. Even though an unexpected death could occur, it is not that likely. Truman didn't have a lot of foreign policy experience and neither did most governors who became president.

KMC
Biggest problem I see with the current love-fest is a large number of conservatives are so relieved McCain did NOT pick Lieberman,or just-as-bad Graham, they are willing to give ANYONE else a pass.

Democrat Double Standard on Experience
It's implied that only a Senator residing in the Foreign Relations Committee is commander-in-chief qualified. Senate experience is the only yardstick? History says otherwise.

James Carter became the 34th ranked President. His 7 year State Government background (Plains Georgia, population of 637) was never questioned. Likewise for Clinton (Hot Springs Arkansas) who went direct from Governor to President.

On Presidential experience vs achievemenat look to history of the 42 Presidents. Statistically speaking, there is no correlation between time in State and Federal government experiences and Presidential achievement rankings. Experiences run from zero years to 39 years. Achievement rankings run from 1 to 42.

Twenty Presidents went from State governments, bypassing the Federal Legislature, into the Presidency. What were their foreign relations experiences qualifying them as Commander in Chief readiness? During WWII, what was 7th ranked Harry Truman’s Commander in Chief and foreign relations pre-experience after 12 years as local judge, 10 years in Federal Legislature, and only a year as VP before Roosevelt died?

The average time in elected government before becoming President was 15 years, zero years to 39 years. 24% of Presidents had no State and local experiences. 40% had no Federal legislative experiences. 50% had no Federal Executive experiences, no exposure to commander in chief or foreign relations. 6th ranked Reagan had 8 years State experience, and no Federal experience. 8th ranked Eisenhower had no elected government experiences. 2nd ranked Lincoln had 8 years State experience, and 2 years federal legislative experience. Eleven of the top 15 had no Federal executive experience exposing them to C in C, or foreign relations. Time in Senate does not equal leadership qualities. Achievement is function of executive competence, not time as lawyer.

Dear Clyde in Mi

You're very condescending.

You said: [WE ARE] "relieved McCain did NOT pick Lieberman,or just-as-bad Graham, they are willing to give ANYONE else a pass."

So McCain "gave Palin a PASS."

That's a sexist statement if ever there was one. I see no pass; she was the CHOSEN VP candidate; and who ever believed McCain was about to name Liebermann? Only the dumbest of political analysts would argue that possibility. You picked it up from the cable nets' Talking Heads.

A Senator of 35 years is no neophyte. He KNEW what he was doing. That's what has your panties in a wedge.

Good post, Carl in Va

Carl's right.

We don't expect any death in the White House; McCain might even run for re-election. It would depend on what he achieves in a first term.

But what is fascinating for me, is Palin the incumbent VP taking GOP leadership in 2012; running for President if McCain has no ambitions past 2008.

He is, after all, elderly and could still experience serious health problems.

Palin would have proven presidential potential after one term as the GOP VP. It's a no-brainer.

I see her in 2009 immediately helping McCain choose a Secretary of Energy. Her obvious knowledge of Alaska's oil industry and its policy relations with Big Oil --point to some very strong contributions (as Hillary would have said) FROM DAY ONE.

this was a great thread!

A very productive political thread indeed!

We were privileged to read all the misery emanating from the left; with their lame attempts to bury the most trustworthy American candidate for high office to come along since Ronald Reagan.

The Boo Birds have sniffed away; OH NO! Palin was no real governor! She was no feminist! She hasn't distinguished herself or her home state! {{Sniff, sniff!}}

To date they haven't even heard her stump speech. They have yet to see real what real moxie is! Sarah the Barracuda and her push-comes-to-shove Republican idealism.

Just wait! If Obama seems voluble and good-looking, you ain't seen nothing yet.

It's been a productive thread for our GOP! Lefties are crying in the streets already!

So BrianR
Thanks for admitting that you are working for Barack Obama's victory.

I just don't understand how you can work to support his victory (which is what you do by voting for anyone other than his opponent.)

Primaries are where you debate purity of doctrine - general elections are where you keep the worst option OUT.

But its ok - you obviously don't care about the shape of the judiciary.

At least you're finally owning up to your motives - dishing out payback, instead of doing whats best for the nation.

Have fun continuing your campaign on behalf of Obama! I'm sure he will appreciate it.

to curmudgeon
point well taken. I screwed up there with the states. NY arrogance. Then again, you didn't really respond to my question. DOes the fact that McCain has no executive experience either make Palin more qualified than him as well?

KMC... Kevin, you really are brain-dead
Hard to believe you actually have a column that places on the TH home page. This joint has gone downhill big time.

You: "Thanks for admitting that you are working for Barack Obama's victory."

No, cretin, I hope McCain loses, but I'm voting for Barr. Obviously to the intellectually challenged -- meaning you -- those two things equate. Quell domage. Your analytical skills wouldn't pass muster in fourth grade.

You: "general elections are where you keep the worst option OUT."

Why don't you see if you can pass a Constitutional amendment making the candidacies of ALL those other parties' nominees be forcibly removed from all the ballots? Nasty thing, people having all those OTHER inconvenient choices. You and McCain would probably get along very well, he of McCain-Feingold. Man... if YOU have a radio show, maybe the Fairness Doctrine isn't such a bad idea after all. Give both brain-dead sides equal play.

You: "But its ok - you obviously don't care about the shape of the judiciary."

Hahahahahahaha! The lame old SCOTUS card. Dude! If Republican nominations meant all that much, why aren't current decisions rendered 7-2? Seven -- that's right, DUDE, SEVEN -- of the sitting Justices were appointed by Republicans, as well as were the last two people who created vacancies: Rehnquist and O'Connor. Yet ya don't see hardly ANY 7-2 Constructionist decisions, do you? Kelo ring a bell? Upholding McCain-Feingold?

You: "instead of doing whats best for the nation."

AND again we're back to that, the last refuge of the intellectually challenged.

To finish, Mr. Muscle-between-the-ears
Let me tell you something, bubba, because I've about had it with you and your sanctimonious BS. In 1969, at the height of a VERY unpopular war, I ENLISTED in the Army and VOLUNTEERED to go to Nam, where I spent the next year. AFTER I was discharged from my three-year enlistement, I was a Nixon campaign volunteer in CHICAGO during his re-election run, and was also a polling place monitor.

I've been a volunteer worker in every election since, and a maximum contributor with my dollars. My local Congressman Buck McKeon -- a staunch conservative and part of the Freshman '94 class -- and I talk on a personal basis.

And what's YOUR claim to fame, big talker? Some regional radio show and a rabble-rousing low-IQ column?

Big whoop.

So you can take your sanctimony and put it where the sun never shines. I'm underwhelmed.

PS, Musclebrain

Here, for you, is a link to my Military.com profile: http://profile.military.com/member/view.do?memberId=165996 77

If you want to continue questioning my commitment to what's "best for this country", I expect YOU to post some credentials more impressive than a local radio show, a third-rate column, and a book no one's read.

Hahahahaha, McCullough!

I just looked your book up on Amazon.com.

Amazon.com Sales Rank: #834,968
Average Customer Review: 2.6 stars (out of 5 max)

Man, I was just being snarky, but it turns out your book really IS a big-time loser.

Too funny!

The Brian R Extravaganza

Is this dude self-obsessed?

At least. He pours out half a dozen self-aggrandizing posts all about himself. Did anybody care?

Hardly. Maybe he thinks his "blog' compares favorably versus the McCullough byline here in a national town hall. I would hardly look in Brian's blog for meaningful opinion. And so far, haven't met anybody here who visits him online. He's so starved for attention he has to post 5 times to the stack.

Somebody throw this narcissist a bone.

/

I'll reply for McCullough

Just this once. Brian challenges with this:

Hahahahahahaha!

Reply: Horse-laugh? On account of what?

"The lame old SCOTUS card."

Reply-- it may be OLD. Is it LAME? Can Brian say HE isn't lame, picking 3rd party snails out in the dark?

"If Republican nominations meant . . . much, why aren't current decisions rendered 7-2? Seven -- that's right . . . sitting Justices were appointed by Republicans, as well as . . . the last two people who created vacancies: Rehnquist and O'Connor. Yet ya don't see . . . 7-2 Constructionist decisions, do you? Kelo ring a bell? Upholding McCain-Feingold?"

Point taken. Is Obama about to name another Clarence Thomas, whom he tried to say was unworthy; or an Alito? How about another Scalia, Bozo? Obama fixing to offer us another Scalia?

No-- neither would a losing 3rd party stiff. We play with the cards dealt in the election at hand. Not Imaginary Poker hands.

You speak like a 15 year-old middle school phenom. Sprinkling Hahahahahaha's isn't forceful writing. Your insolence isn't leadership.

Your brains could use a jolt of Lecithin and much less masturbation online.
