Seven Reasons Why the GOP Comeback Will Begin in 2010

Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Although trying to play Nostradamus with U.S. politics is always a risky endeavor, particularly this early in a political cycle, the odds would seem to heavily favor a GOP comeback in 2010.

Here's why the smart money should be on Elephants instead of Donkeys:

1) History is on our side: Typically, the party in power loses "23 seats in the U.S. House and two in the U.S. Senate in a new president’s first midterm election."

Certainly, that's not always the case. For example, George Bush actually gained seats in the post-9/11 environment that the GOP ran in back in 2002, but you've still got to love our chances.

2) The GOP is starting to pull it together: Throughout George Bush's time in office, particularly in his last term, the GOP was a pile of mush that tried to please everyone and as a result, ended up pleasing no one. They talked ceaselessly about cutting the size of government, cutting the deficit, and enforcing immigration laws even as they expanded government, pumped up the deficit, and worked towards amnesty and open borders.

However, in the first two months of the Obama Administration, we've seen Republicans put teeth behind their rhetoric for the first time in eight years. For example, no Republican in the House and only three in the Senate voted for the Stimulus Bill while not a single Republican in Congress supported Obama's extravagant budget. For the first time in years, voters are being genuinely presented with a clear, unequivocal choice: capitalism or socialism? Out-of-control deficits that destroy America economically or fiscal responsibility? A government that believes in limits on its power or power-hungry statists who want to take permanent government control of banking, finance, the auto industry, the Internet, and health care? In a center-right country, that sort of clarity favors us.

3) The economy: Although we can be certain that the economy will eventually recover, probably some time between late 2009 and early-to-mid 2010 (although who really knows), the public's perception of the economy generally lags far behind actual economic growth.

In other words, even if the economy improves by mid-2010 and the media trumpets it to the skies, the public still may be skeptical -- and the Democrats would be sure to get the blame. Couple that with a housing market that is likely years away from getting back to 2008 numbers, gas prices that are likely to rise, a jobless rate at 8.5% and rising, and a level of debt that has grown so large that it imperils the continued prosperity of our country -- and economic worries are still likely to be very prevalent in November of 2010.

4) How much lower can the Republicans go?: We are still a two-party country and after a couple of stupendously bad election cycles in a row, how much farther is the GOP even capable of falling at this point, absent a Whig-style complete meltdown? Just look at the numbers in the House:

Right now, we know that there are at least 70 if not more Democrats who sit in red districts....there are only five Republicans in districts that John Kerry won in 2004.

The numbers aren't quite as bleak for the Democrats in the Senate, but clearly, almost all the low hanging fruit has already been picked in the last two elections.

5) No Bush: George Bush was the leader of the Republican Party and with his approval in the low thirties in late 2006 and in the mid-twenties in late 2008, it was like every Republican running for office had strapped his boot laces to the Titanic. In 2010, the GOP isn't going to have one of the least popular Presidents in American history as its front man.

6) Barack Obama isn't going to be on the ballot: Obama will certainly be able to help the Democrats in 2010, even if his popularity has dropped significantly from where it is today, by raising money and doing campaign appearances. So, unless the bottom has completely fallen out of his presidency, he should be an asset for them.

However, he is not going to be on the ballot and thus far, he has shown little ability to mobilize his supporters to do anything other than vote for him. Will young voters and black voters turn out to vote if Obama isn't on the ticket?

Probably not. In fact, Obama may have a lot of trouble turning them out himself in 2012. After all, voting the first black President into office was a history-making event. Doing it again, on the other hand, would just be a boring vote for more-of-the-same.

7) Barack Obama's radicalism: So far, Obama has turned out to be worse than the worst case scenario that the GOP posited during the 2008 election. He is on pace to run up a larger deficit than every other U.S. President combined, he has repealed welfare reform, he's trying to take over and micromanage large segments of the economy, and via Cap and Trade he has proposed the largest tax increase in history -- one that would hit the poor and middle class particularly hard.

Even though Obama has been in office for less than ninety days, a lot of people who pulled the lever for him are probably already wishing there were more Republicans in office to help keep him from governing like such a Hugo Chavez wannabe.

What we saw
was not what we got.

BHusseinO lied to us over and over again, as he continues to do in office. I recognized his (lack of) character two years before he was elected. He is the definition of charlatan, and if he were any less qualified, he wouldn't be able to read his telepromter.

Ranger'sIQ's-29 scribbles again:
right wing heads explode

The same inane, insane, idiotic, grammatically incorrect drivel

nothing
has changed. The reasons the republican party lost so much hasn't changed at all. If anything they are getting farther off the charts. I just say Gaffney tell people Obama has a special code he uses to his Muslim overlords. The more he talks, the better O looks.

Predictions?
Considering how Idiot29 has been wrong about nearly everything he has posted on TH, I'd say things are looking better for Conservatives in the near future. That whole "McCain, Master and Commander" thing worked out great. What a joke. He should stick to making up B.S. about himself instead of prophesying. Pity that comment above will be gone by 0800, eh?

Regarding the article by John Hawkins, I'd say those are seven compelling points; then again, with so many Americans so caught up in the rhetoric vs. substantive issues, 2010 could still be a roll of the dice. The transparency of this administration's (and the 111th Congress's) careless spending spree SHOULD be enough to condemn them to massive losses in '10 and '12... but that would require an awful lot of registered voters to actually remember why they voted out Republicans in the last two key elections. Honestly, I'd say it's time for incumbents on both sides to take a long walk off a short pier.

re: K-9
We cannot forget the desire of the Liberal Media to sway those who are lazy and gullible in order to keep the Dems in power.
So you are correct, nothing is certain.

The Republicans can........
go the way of the Whig Party, directly onto the trash heap of history.....those clowns have betrayed their own base and chose to be "bi-partisan" with the Demorats, whom despise everything they stand for.

We need true men to stand for American principles, not effeminates in suits drinking martinis. As far as the 'two party system" is concerned, ahhh forget it.......(the state of the union currently under two-party rule speaks for itself)

Do you like what you see?

"R " Tedisco Is Gonna Bea "D" Murphy !

Obama and The Democrats made New York's 20Th Congressional Race A Marker Election and now they are gonna go down in flames.

The Dead Heat of 77,225 Votes Each ,will go to Tidesco with The April 13Th Opening of 6,648 Absentee Ballots ,of which 46 Percent are Registered Republicans ,while only 35 Percent are Registered Democrats and only 15 Percent are Not Registered with Any Party.

Obama and The Recession Plagued Democrats have already hit their High Water Mark and are Receding from Power already.

Next to go down Senator Chris Dodd of Connecticut.

2010 should break the Democrats Power.

Seven Reasons...
2010 may be the year for the emergence of a third party.

1.) The Republicans have fooled us too many times, and aren't likely to recover our trust that quickly.

2.) Republicans have lost their conservative roots.

3.) There are a lot of conservative, Reagan Democrats who are also looking for a party that will preserve the Constitution and defend freedom.

4.) The current crop of Republicans provide no leadership. Who is the Newt Gingrich of 2010?

5.) People are tired of partisan politics, especially when we are getting screwed by both parties.

6.) The number of people claiming to be independent is as high as it has ever been.

7.) Bush has ruined the Republican brand, and Obama/Pelosi/Reid are doing the same to the Democrat brand. It's time to throw them ALL out and start over.

Reply to Timmy in PA....

Go play with Lassie you fool......and stand on the crooked crutch the GOP has given you for support....

God Bless, everyone......bwahhahahahha

Im through with pink elephants
kbtexan is right on. Only Newt is a traitor! He is a false RINO CFR Republicrat who got us into the WTO! He is a FRAUD! He belongs in Levenworth awaiting execution for treason!

I was a life long republican and then left only to come back briefly to vote for Ron PAUL

Ron Paul in 2012 or NO ONE! I wont vote for Palin or any other choice of the big red machine! Anyone they choose cannot ever be voted for! Look at the fraud OREO they named as chairman!!! Look at the fruad Schwartzentraitor! Look at spectre, look at collins, Snowe job! ! Look at them all! Failed do nothing, never get anything accomplished republicants!

No more Rinos, no more pink elephants! Screw the leftist "neo-con job" big socialist party

Delusional Thinking
Hawkins says, "...a lot of people who pulled the lever for [Obama] are probably already wishing there were more Republicans in office to help keep him from governing like such a Hugo Chavez wannabe.

Oh, really? Check out the latest New York Times-CBS News poll:

Conservatism isn't dead
Great article here. I really enjoyed it and I think he made some interesting points. There is hope for the conservative movement because the conservative movement, despite the ultra-partisan extremists that both sides have, has the bonus of common sense, history, and statistical facts to base many of our policies on.

I read a great column today on this topic, comparing what makes a winning baseball team to what makes a winning country.

KbTexan, I'll dispute #7
The Republican party helped damage the [R] brand. A lot. They were not required to go on a spending binge, they just wanted to.

The Republican party needs to be purged, both elected and un-elected sides of it.

Oddly, tho, June of last year I thought we were seeing the end of the Rebublican Party, but I think the Dimocrats are going to save it.

An election strategy
Does anyone know if there is a PAC dedicated to unseating every politician who voted for the Bush bailout?

We know Republicans are untrustworthy, we know what Democrats are all about, and we know that they implemented institutional barriers to third-party ballot access. So a functional strategy may be to target every elected official who voted for the bailout, regardless of party. Fund their primary opponents, and if they make it out of the primary, fund their general opponent.

But this may be prohibitively expensive. It may be more efficient to target the leaders at the time the bailout passed--they all voted for the bailout. With enough money and focused resources, it is possible within the next four years to defeat the sitting Speaker and minority leader of the House; the majority and minority leaders of the Senate; and both major party nominees to Presidency last year, in their upcoming reelection bids.

Now that would be change I could believe in!

Geez Louise....................

........for crying out loud JIO, you are offering up a poll by the NYT as a credible resource?

Did you bump your head on something? Get real sport, and give us something besides New York Times crap to make your "point".

Optimistic about the economy? Hardly. Republicans "approval" levels at 31%? Whatever. Do you know anything ABOUT the NYT?

I didn't think so. Otherwise you wouldn't present that drivel as a reliable source.

Rt66ZenMaster.
When you're done reading Robert Pirsig: the New York is more or less the world's most prestigious newspaper. Just like the wikipedia is an excellent encyclopedia. It's just that the far right cannot deal with reality.

Tim.
Anti-socialist, why don't you move to Europe?

kbTexan, craigers

Rudolf
The New York Times USED TO BE the world's most prestigious newspaper. Those days are gone. Circulation is plunging; they're badly in the red. Few take them seriously any more. People have caught on to the fact that what they call news is actually commentary. The people who made the NYT great are retired or dead. It has been taken over by a group with much lower standards.

ExRCSD Deputy
Ranger uses that phrase because it gets results. People get annoyed and respond. The trolls derive meaning for their life by how much they can gain some sort of recognition. If they can't achieve positive praise and approval, they will settle for the negative. A few years of this and they get twisted into going for the more negative, the better. LE personnel are very familiar with one manifestation of this pathetic mindset. There is a fairly common type of burglar who defecates in some prominent place in any house they rob. Cops call them shltters.

Rudolf Euro-Trash !

Because too many of your kind of Socialist Anti-American Euro-Trash live there !

Wanna make somethin' of it Euro-Scum ?

I don't see it
While it is true that republicans have stood together for a change during this congress only 16 members of the congress have voted against all the bailout bills.

I look around and I see the same hacks in the leadership and Steele has been less than impressive so far.

Outside of Jim DeMint I have not heard the GOP attack this socialist agenda on constitutional grounds. In fact, they passed a bill of attainder!

Sorry to throw cold water on this piece but I just don't see it yet. Wishing don't make so!

Another Freaking Poll?
LOLOLOL

By the New York Times. The same paper that no bank in New York itself would lend money, the same newspaper that had to go to Mexico to find anyone fool enough to think bailing it out was a good idea--at over 14% interest, no less.

Can't help but wonder if that so-called poll was taken before or after Oblahblah debased himself before the Saudi King. And what the results might have been if, indeed, the New York Times along with the rest of the New York media had actually reported this little tidbit of "all the news fit to print."

So, since we know who funded the poll, let's look at what the media based largely in New York stands to gain by spreading this propaganda. Why, they are trying to save themselves from a poor decision--this is a blatant attempt on their part to not look bad for backing the current Embarrassment in Chief. They want to help the hood from Chicago because they don't know how to say they're sorry to the nation. That and the lack of honest reporting skews the results of this "poll" to the point that it's only good for a laugh at their sorry bid to save themselves from their own mistakes.

What the media, and especially the New York Times, don't know is Americans are far more likely to forgive the person or organization big enough to admit their mistakes than to listen to liars who don't have enough sense to leave Manhattan long enough to truly find out what the rest of the country is thinking.

No one I know who voted for Oblahblah believes they did the right thing now.

If the Republicans can
fall back and re-group we can win big in 2010.
IMO, we have to educate this electorate to start believing in themselves as Americans again. We are a unique people with a unique form of gov't..call the liberals what they are..anti-Americans bent on ruining this country.

Show just what will happen if these morons are allowed to run this gov't unchecked.

Tell the truth rather than this "my good friend" political BS..if your opponent is a liar, call him out and show that you have a spine AND a pair worthy of our electing you.

Dems are wimps, BO being a perfect example and too many of ours have emulated them and that's why we lose.

Would Reagan have embarrassed us by apologizing for this country or bowing to the saudi towel?

We dip our flag first to no-one.

LAST CHANCE
The 2010 elections:

First chance to stop the ultra-liberal cabal running America and the first chance for to send a message to a weak, dangerous president.

Well on his way to becoming the worst president in US history, only Obama could make Carter look good. He's a John Edwards clone and, I pray, for the sake of America, a one-term president.

Not Yet, Hawkins
"The GOP is starting to pull it together.." It is still the same John McShame that I see with the mic before the camera espousing his "disappointment" with Hussein Obama. I haven't heard the latest from the GOP about the open borders and illegals sucking up jobs that the honkies won't do. Is the GOP now against it after it was for it?

Wrong
I have no faith in the GOP. They revealed themselves as deceitful hypocrites, cowards and traitors. What's changed about them? They're the same corrupt sellouts we had just a few months ago. There's not a leader among them.

No change will happen in this country until our economy has collapsed and we are really attacked so that every American is faced with two very unpleasant choices: return to vigilance and self reliance, or be enslaved and die.

Anyone hoping that somehow our ruling class will somehow find wisdom and courage deludes himself.

It is for each individual to secure his estate, his family and his life before disaster befalls us. Trusting either political party is futile.

Don't be a democrat. Be prepared.

Head on staight
KBTEXAN you have the right idea. Unless the Republicans get rid of the neo-cons they will continue as is. The Democrats are hopeless Constsitutional wise.
You should try The Constitution Party. I did and even though it's an uphill battle, you can at least lay your head down at night knowing you voted for Constitutional and REAL Conservative values.
Americans have GOT to get out of the two party mindset. There are real Americans out there more qualified for President than anything the Republicans and Democrats will offer. That is why for 149 years nothing really changes in Washington, no matter who is in power, men like Ron Paul(a former libertarian)Chuck Baldwin, Constitution Party, and Bob Barr, Libertarian. But these guys believe in following the Constitution and live die, sink or swim, I'm with them.

Maybe, maybe not
I have a feeling this article is on target. It sounds mildly optimistic. This is the way it should go, IF our election system were still functioning the way it should be.

But one thing not taken into account; Rahm Emmanuel, the Census, and the Democrat cheat machine (can you say Al Franken anyone?). Judgeing by the Obama administrations twisted and obviously crooked way they are going to handle the census, THEY know these points to be true. With "community" groups doing the "organizing" of district lines, registering illegals to vote, etc., an honest election will is a thing of the past.

So we can be optimistic, but we can no longer assume the other side isn't stacking the deck, or that they will not commit out and out fraud to stay in power. We are now dealing with radicals at ALL levels of government who see it as their moral and ethical obligation to save voters from themselves. And they'll do it by hook or by crook.

Yes, they will leave us the symbolic, "vote". It will become a symbolic gesture to distract us from the onslaught of economic slavery, and give us the warm and fuzzy feeling that we still hold some sort of self-determination. I suppose only 2010 and 2012 will tell. I am not as optimistic as Hawkins.

Republicans Must Move to the Right
And this move must be very noticeable for them to win in 2010. The "Old Guard" in Washington must resign or be beaten at the primaries.

This is the only way that the Republicans can win. If they don't, we can only expect a small change in the 2010 elections, but hopefully the start of a strong Conservative 3rd Party.

Stop ACORN
We must make a large and public outcry to our Congress and Demand that no more tax monies go to groups such as ACORN, which are fronts for Democrats. ACORN gets tax dollars to organize and register voters, many of which are illegal votes, and in all cases, they only register Democrat Voters. We should demand that these type organizations use George Soros's, the Foreign Born Communists money, and not taxpayer money.

If you have an ACORN office in your town, stand outside and protest These Obamatron Marxists. They are a criminal organization and are Anti-American to the core.

This is a start. Disrupt ACORN's activities and expose them for what they are.

Conservative Platform:
Remember this: Any time that the U.S. Government Creates an Agency, Department, Task Force, or Commission, that things will only get worse. When the U.S. Government creates an institution to deal with a "perceived" problem, the problem is guaranteed to grow worse and the numbers of "perceived" victims will grow. The reason being is this: When an Agency or Department is born, it begins to become an Empire. And, like all Empires, they want to grow. In order to grow, they must Have Problems to solve and Victims to Serve. Then, their budgets grow. Their payrolls grow. Their power grows. They create new Classes of Perceived Victims. They create New Problems to Solve. And, this is how every single U.S. Government Agency or Department operates.

And, what are Obama and the Democrats doing right now. They are creating New Departments, and Agencies. They are expanding the size, power, spending and influence of all Existing Agencies, Commmissions and Departments.

All U.S. Government Agencies and Departments are Despotic, and Despots never willingly give up their power.

We must, as conservatives, startr a Revolution in our Politics and Demand the Complete Abolishment of Every U.S. Government Agency,
Department or Commission that does not directly deal with National Security, Infrastructure, and Legitimate Governing responsibilities. The U.S. government has no business being in the Welfare Business, the Education Business, Manufacturing Business, or Banking Business.

And, we need to advocate Resigning from U.N., NATO, NAFTA, CAFTA, IMF, WHO and all the other foreign entanglments that are all Socialists, Fascists or Communists.

And, of course, in every instance, Things Get Much Worse as the Bureaucratic Machinery is cranked up and starts it's malignant growth.

The USSR found this out and that is why the USSR crumbled eventually.

Not yet; Not until...
The GOP will not regain Congressional control until the likes of Arlen Specter, John McCain, Lindsey Graham, and John Boehner are replaced. These men, amoung others, are not there to promote the American Way as defined in the Constitution. They are there to wield power...personal power, deal making power, legislative power.
All of these men are willing to trade away the guarantees listed in the Constitution and Bill of Rights in the name of "working with other side" in the name of accomodation with the Socialist/Statist types like Barny Frank.
These men are convinced that Government (translation: "THEY") know best what we need and "should" want. They are perfectly willing to help government control our lives.
Until that mindset is thrown out of the Republican Party, there will be no Republican majority or even Republican gains.

What idiots
Americans who pretend that they were tricked or misled are either liars or idiots. You voted for Barak I'm embarrassed to be an American Obama because he was black. At least have the courage to tell the truth about it and now that the foolishness of your choice is showing you want to pretend that you were misled. If you believed anything this lying muslim kissup said you are and idiot.

reasonable
Obviously the best argument for Republicans picking up seats is that one has to bottom out at some point. This is Hawkins 4) but really it explains his 1) as well. Usually presidents are elected with coat tails, so the next election is just a backlash. Obviously that didn't happen in 2000 when Gore got more votes than Bush, so Bush's coattails were obviously minimal. And 1998 was an exception as well, but that was mostly a backlash against the farcical impeachment attempt.

The economy is the other real threat. But if the timeline is the one that Hawkins gives look for the Republicans to be decimated. A Republican win would need the recession to continue until at least the summer of 2010. If the economy has been improving for two quarters by the time of the election the Republicans are toast. After all, as Hawkins notes in his number 2) they are putting all of their eggs in the failure of the economy basket.

These are the 7 reasons that republicans need to find solace in. (Although obviously #7 only fits that description for the 30% of the country or so that disapproves of Obama's job performance. The Republicans need somewhat more than that if they want to win.

High on the reasons why there won't be a comeback is that republicans seem to believe that they can win by just really convincing that 30%.

nick 38
I am with you, totally. Americans seem to have lost their ability to think with their brain instead of their emotions. Even with this catastrophe slowing sliding towards us, they look at you (if they know you're a conservative) with pity and contempt because, in their eyes, you're a racists.

I would have voted for someone that was purple if I thought he'd get the job done. Now, my questions: when are the Republicans going to roar, and when is the liberal media going to admit that they are aiding and abetting the destruction of America?

I swear, the next time I meet a liberal who tell me that everything is GWB's fault instead of being honest and looking at the Clinton years, I am going to remove their earrings without unclasping them.

Another
thing Greyhawk, why not call their elected king/queenlet's offices and let them know we resent ACORN and it's influence, our funding them. And don't just call once, every chance you get CALL! This ACORN fraud is probably one of the reasons the DemonRATS are so smug about pushing through all their anti American, unconstitutional agenda because they figure the American people can't do anything about it because the fix is in.
There are some conservative's running for seats, many of them are veterans..that's a PAC we support. I WILL NEVER give money to the RNC or the RNC Committees only to conservatives.
I heard once that the last several Congress's
have the fewest members who have ever served in the military. AS far as I am concerned I feel
much safer when we have more CONSERVATIVE
former military than what we have now..at least we know they won't apologize to the world for being Americans.
We may have two contenders for the House seat in my district, normally a Republican district and every few years the folks can't stand prosperity and put in a DemonRAT. They learn a sad lesson, return a Republican to the House.
And they have/are conservatives that have won or run. NO DemonRAT will ever get my vote again, (Prior to R v W, I have voted D at times,
though not often, am Independent and the D
I last voted for was a good man..man enough to reverse his stand on abortion after a letter campaign..and he hated pork!) I Will never again
vote a RINO..they are nothing but Dem's in drag.
And the RNC had better get the message or they will go the way of the WHIGS.

You know
I must admit, not bad. However, it’s not as good as “Obama's Top Ten Flaws That Will Cost Him in November” 8/1/08. I may be wrong, but I don’t think the oracle business is right for Hawkins.

Yes, but ...
*Obama will fund ACORN with taxpayer dollars, and they will insure a large turnout of died in wool Democrats, dead people, illegal immigrants, and people willing to vote more than once.

*The media will continue to shill for Obama.

*It seems likely that the "Fairness Doctrine" will shut down dissenting voices.

*After 2010, the new Census, led by Rahm Emmanuel, will give Dems more electoral strength.

In fact, our republic is on the ropes.

OBAMA LEDS THE WAY
AS LONG AS OBAMA IS PERFORMING AS HE IS NOW ALL CONSERVATIVES HAVE TO DO IS REGISTER TO RUN. THE GOP MUST HAVE CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATES NOT ANYMORE BUSH STYLE BIG GOVERNMENT LIBERAL NOMINEES.THE ERA OF LIBERALISM IS DEAD OBAMA DID THE BEST THING FOR CONSERVATIVES HE ACTUAL CUT THE DEFENSE SYSTEM BY ORDERING THE ELMINATION OF PROTECTION OF THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES.OPENING THE BORDERS AND THE SKY TO ATTACKS FROM ANY ENEMY. IF STEELE AND COMPANY CAN NOT SALE NATIONAL DEFENSE THEN THE GOP NEED TO BE ABOLISHED.OBAMA IS THE GOP BEST CAMPAIGNER, 2010 PRIMARIES IN MOST STATES ARE LESS THAN A YEAR AWAY, IT IS TIME TO START RAISING CAMPAIGN CHIEFS TO FIGHT TO OVER TAKE BOTH SIDES OF CONGRESS.

Sgt Relic
You are right.Steele showed his true colors by running down Rush, the standard bearer for conservatives.Steele is exactly the kind of repub the party doesn't need

Wishful Thinking
Sounds like mindless cheerleading to me. As a fiscal, national security, and social conservative, I have seen nothing substantial to make me start contributing money to the Republican party again. Sarah Palin has personally demonstrated her pro-life bona fides, has cut Alaska's budget by 10%, and has rooted out corruption in her own party in Alaska. Yet party insiders are trashing her. Many of our Senators and Representatives still had tons of their own earmarked pork in the budget bill, even if they didn't vote for the bill. Are you telling me they had a "religious experience" between last summer/fall when they inserted those earmarks and now? It seems to be all posturing to me. I'll believe it when I see something concrete.

Ditto Tea Party in Wisconsin
Thanks Tea Party--We are holding a Tea Party in Tuscaloosa, Alabama as well. The liberals and MSM are trying to downplay the vents that are happening, but whether they ignore us or not, we are out here, and when it is over, we will stay in the fight to expose this Communist takeover of our country which is being lead by the Lead Communist, Barack Hussein Obama, a foreign born puppet of the American Leftists.

Everybody needs to continue to e-mail, sign petitions, and call their congress men and women. They do listen, and they need the encouragement. Also, for most of us who have to work and pay our own way, this is the only voice we have.

Everybody stay in the fight, and do not be intimidated by Leftists such as ACORN terrorists and criminals. Remember, these folks and the Democrats in government are you Real Enemies, and they are the enemies of our country, and if you do not believe it, just watch this communist president Obama bash and trash the United States in front of our enemies, including Bowing to a Muslim King.

WHAT I GET FROM THIS ARTICLE

.....The way to unite the REPUBLICANS is to elect a RADICAL DEMOCRAT ...

.....I don't know HAWKINS ...that seems like a losing formula to me ...

.....A better formula would have been to govern with CONSERVATIVE principles when GW had the WHITE HOUSE and REPUBLICAN majorities in both houses for six years .....COLOSSUS

Two reasons why the US is DEAD
1) The average IQ of voters has declined to below room temperature.

2) 20 million illegal aliens -- all Democrat voters -- have a newly funded ACORN handing them ballots to cancel out legal votes.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Because the mass media is so corrupted and constantly up for sale, the $$$$$$$$$$$ to influence it will be a major factor, if not the major factor to the 2010 elections. Without the mass media selling out on propaganda to attack Bush, hype bo, ignore the cheating of aholes (acorn) and the vile attacks of Gov Palin, bo never gets selected, anybody who tells you different is conveniently or not, LYING.

The Rrepublicans better vote for what they supposedly stand for, all the time. I was not STUPID, to buy the hype of the corrupted mass media prepared propaganda and vote off Republicans or stay home, to "teach them a lesson," like some who should know better, did. I won't ever fall for that BS. I know that even a half conservative is better than a full leftist fakeacrat wacko, that is just common sense. Having said this, not holding the Republicans to a "higher standard" as the media is paid to manipulate to, I was very dissapointed that after the details of the so called "aig bonuses" were put out, some of the Republlicans, joined the fakeacrats in the "appeasement" of the stirred mob and voted to tax the "bonuses," that was wrong and is what got the Republicans in trouble in the past. The fakeacrats are the appeasers and the manipulators, when the Republlicans try that, it hurts them, as it should.

It would be nice to see some "true" Democrats, not using bo's game plan of Bull Sh*&Ting the particular group you are addressing at the time, but genuine conservative and even moderate democrats would be nice to see.

We'll see
Dewey said you can't make good socialists out of "individuals" and Marx claimed that all he needed was one generation of school children. The US "educational" system has been wreaking its damage on our children for 70 years- it may be too late. The average US voter has no knowledge or sense of his/her history, has a fully ingrained sense of entitlement, and is far dumber than the children raised under past Soviet systems. I don't know what it wll take to wake up a population that yawns at left wing voter fraud (that doesn't even try to hide anymore), the melting away of their liberties and broken promises, and ignorance as the left destroys their families and culture.
Frankly, it worries me a little that Oblahblah acts as if he doesn't worry about re-election...

NObamaElMessiah = Hugo Chavez
[[Even though Obama has been in office for less than ninety days, a lot of people who pulled the lever for him are probably already wishing there were more Republicans in office to help keep him from governing like such a Hugo Chavez wannabe. ]]

The above is so dead nuts on with the analogy above.

The Author Makes Some Good Points but
Until the pubbies go back to the political Old Time Religion, Reaganism, they are still dead men walking. The only reason Reaganism is not a winning message is because the pubbies stopped preaching it.

They better start spreading the word with conviction from every possible pulpit or this nation is a gonner. Government is not part of the problem. Government IS the problem.

I especially like the authors point about Bush (spit) no longer anchoring the pubbies to the bottom. The man is a fool. So ignorant of life and reality he became a willing accomplice, not just a tool, for the greatest rip-off ever foisted upon the world. And he STILL doesn't seem to realize it.

$$$$$$ and more
bewolfe/MA- Our US is not "dead." Like Pres Reagan said "every generation has to fight for it's Freedom," we are no different. You recognize the problems, go fight to overcome them ! Maybe you already fought for US, if you did, I thank you. It may not be fair to ask more of you but, I assure you that there are plenty of US out here that are not giving up we know that we are in a serious battle to save our country from becoming a memory of it's greatness. You are right on about SO many voters being so IGNORANT, SIMPLETONS, EASILY BOUGHT, LACKING TRUE LOVE FOR THEIR COUNTRY AND IT'S VALUES, NOT APPRECIATING WHAT THEY HAVE, that is even more of a deterrant than the low common sense they displayed on the last election. As far as the illegals, that is another battle that has to be fought. Make no mistake about it, no matter what they call me, I guarantee you that bo got the votes to get over the top through cheating with aholes, specially in Fl and Ohio. Even with all the advantage in $$$$, the mass media propaganda machine, the elitists still had to cheat. No doubt there are plenty of bad voters but don't fall for the leftists manipulations, there are more of US than they want you to know about and even more than they know !! Fight on my brother, The Red, White and Blue is worth it !
God Save America !

The Demise Of The GOP
When we consider the battle for recognition the Republican Part ,especially the conservative part, must fight every day,it is no wonder we are flailing around and sinking.

If I had just become politically awakened as many new Democrats have,I would vote Democrat in a heartbeat. And why not?

Unless these people watch FOX News and listen to some talk radio and a precious few newspapers, they NEVER hear a negative word against a Democrat or a posuitive word for a Republican.

If the Republican Party can't infiltrate the mainstream media and stop the drumbeat of negativity against the GOP,they are toast. There must be a way to go around them...or through them.

Republicans are doomed
unless they get rid of Steele, Specter, Snow, et.al.

But all hope is not lost see http://www.oath-keepers.blogspot.com/ All Patriots, active duty military, active duty LE, retired LE, and veterans should go theree and announce their support.

Iam McFedup

Stop demanding perfection from Reps
and stop falling for the corrupted mass medias paid manipulation like so many who should know better did in 2006 and 2008, YOU GOT USED ! Don't get used again !
I agree that it ticks you off when a Rep goes against what he got voted in for but unless he/she can be defeated in the primary, is too late and it is IGNORANT to vote against he/she or not vote at all, to allow the fakeacrat phony leftist extremist win, that is just IGNORANT and we are paying for that IGNORANCE, right now and have since 2006.
I am not under contract to the Republican party I would LOVE to see TRUE democrats with conservative values or at the least, genuine moderates.
Be careful with what so many of you "conservatives" or "moderates" get manipulated into believing from the corrupted mass media. Pres Bush did confuse "compassion" with "appeasement" when it came to some social programs $$$$pending but, he did many great things for conservatives and he tried to do many more but could not overcome the corrupted mass media, the degenerate sell outs of hollyweird who were constantly launching Lying attacks on him, which they continue to do today while at the same time omitting his accomplishments. The reason bo can travel to Iraq, the reason we are "respected" and envied for our strength around the world is because our enemies FEARED Pres Bush, he kept US safe and Strong. The leftists wackos work diligently to keep Pres Bush from getting the respect and credit he deserves. They know very well that our enemies want to take over for more power, they know these enemies only "respect" what they fear and they feared Bush because Bush had the Balls to do whatever it took ! Of course our military, which the left loathes and disrepects while living off them, deserves the credit first, they do all the hard work ! Don't fall for the lefts BS, they don't need any more sheep.

Only One Way For GOP To Win In 2010
A change in sentiment among independent voters is the only way the GOP can win in 2010.

Statistically there are not enough people identifying as Republicans to allow the GOP to win in national contests relying on its base alone. A Pew Research Paper, Winds of Political Change Haven't Shifted Public's Ideology Balance, 11/25/08, showed only 36% of the public identifies as Conservatives, but number of voters identifying with the Democratic Party has widened over the past two decades. Respondents who identify as Republicans were 32% in other polling. The Democrats, thanks to Howard Dean’s 50 State Strategy have racked up undeniable gains in the traditional Red States. Those who think that the political climate is favorable to the GOP should read the following article: For Much of the Country, a Sizeable Shift. The article presents a county-by-county analysis of the percentage of increase in voting for the Democratic Party. It is surprising to see just how blue the country has become. With regard to Capitalism vs. Socialism, for all of Palin’s ranting about Obama as a “Socialist” it did the GOP no good in 2008, Obama actually got the majority of the vote among the affluent.

There is considerable disaffection with the GOP on the part of those who identify as true Conservatives, many saying that the GOP has been tainted to the point that it no longer represents true Conservative principles. In reality the GOP has a long way to go to get back on top.

What A Load Of..............

2006 Rinos led the party to a thrashing, 2008 Rinos led the way to the biggest whipping a political party has suffered since McGovern. Now, what does the future hold, a jumped up little quota prince (or electoral failure if you prefer) out drumming up Spectorites and Snowe Clones to fill the ticket in 2010. Does anyone at the RNC get this? Run conservative candidates or lose! Gingrich gave the party a very pointed warning last week, someone should listen up!

New York's Special Election and 2010
Much had been made of the special election held in upstate New York on March 31st. The RNC and Conservative media had vigorously touted the contest as a referendum on Obama.

The GOP challenger started out with a 21% point lead and wound up on the eve of the election down 4% points. Now it's about a race "to close to call", with absentee ballots being counted.

All this in a district with a 70,000-voter registration advantage for the GOP. Moreover there was little evidence of the GOP challenger having gained anything from two visits by Michael Steele and other GOP heavies. More to the point, this is a largely rural, predominately white district, which is the type of election district that the GOP is supposed to do be successful in winning.

If the Dems are “hemorrhaging” voters in droves and the populace is up in arms over bailouts and spending, how could the GOP not sweep this special election?

J. Hawkens
I can give you one reason that nullifies your seven. CORRUPTION!

NOTHING is "Typical" with our government now that The Marxist Ovomit and the Fascists Dem/Congress are in full control. And they are not about to let go of power!

The people *will be allowed* to think they have a vote. Just to keep them occupied and distracted from what these S.O.B's are really doing. Following the Communist Manifesto as they replace our Free Republic with Socialism or worse.

As Joseph Stalin said..."Those who cast the votes decide nothing! Those who count the votes decide everything."

Not a chance!
Unless the Republicrats pull their collective heads out of the sand and start criticizing the current crack head and chief they don’t stand a prayers chance in he**. You see the base is not at all impressed with the mamby pamby, go along to get along nonsense the current Republican leadership is showing. The country just elected a racist, mobbed up, Chicago self admitted coke head whose residence is owned by Fat Tony Resko, to the highest office in the land. Amazingly after the Democrats spent the last 8 years committing treason and screaming that Bush was a war criminal and that we that we were loosing in Iraq. It’s time to get dirty Republicans and unless you get down to their level and start hitting them with everything you have we (the people) will simply find a party that has a real set of balls. 2010? Grow a pair or get ready for defeat.

Some cherry picking
Though I agree with some of your reasoning be careful about cherry-picking your facts. As one commenter from above noted. the Democrats picked up seats in the 1998 off year meaning that two of the last three off years saw the incumbent party pick up house seats, though admittedly there were unusual conditions in both (impeachment/9-11)

However, the real cherry picking comes from using the 2004 electoral map to work out how many members of congress are representing districts that have political leanings different from their own. The breakdown following the 2008 election is 49 democrats representing McCain won districts and 34 republicans representing Obama won districts. A little less rosy than the 70 to 5 split you give.

Hawkins Has Good points
someone already called out Rudy the Nazi and johninliberalogon about the NYT. The fact that it is an NYT/CBS poll makes it totally laughable!

Under the what goes around comes around department, our main local rag is in so much financial trouble that they had their liberat employees outside of the Metrodome last night begging for a bailout! They used to embrace true journalism and investigate both sides of the issue, but that changed over the past few years. They applauded the Dumborats theft of the election for Senator for tax cheat Freaky Franken rather than determine where all of those mysterious uncounted votes came from. Having been a victim of layoffs a couple of times in my career, I never want to see it happen to anyone and they shouldn't suffer from following the direction of their liberal management, but stuff happens!

Freedom-Slave
You are an idiot, excuse my vulgarity. You are an idiot..... I laughed at your post. Keep it up, that thinking has you repugs on the outs.

I love it!

Good article except for one....
...point. The majority of blacks will vote for a liberal black candidate no matter how openly corrupt, inept, or incompetent. Mindless tribalism predominates among the most blacks no matter how tragic the consequences. After all, as most blacks believe, black liberal politicians promise a consequence-free lifestyle, and a litany of blame when things predicatably go south.

Witness the "work" of the late "King" Coleman Young, Detroit's first black mayor. He started the ball rolling to turn that former grand city into a third world shooting gallery, and he was proud of his efforts until the day he died. To this day, most blacks (that make the print pages of our local dailies) love the memory of Young and his amazingly pathetic and disatrous policies. They have even named the huge city-county building in downtown Detroit after this Papa Doc Duvalier clone.

Obama owns most black people, and they will make excuses for his incompetence and naivete' with every breath. No sir, blacks will turn out again en masse in the next election to support the brutha.

How we got here
Bush's lack of popularity was mostly an artifact of the news media, not his actions or lack of. IMO, his worst weakness was in publicity, and second was his lack of internal leadership. The fuss between Rice and Powell being the best known of his failures, but the most insidious is the amount of crime and corruption during his last years.

The Democrats? They nearly fell apart in the last 4 years of Bush, and the Chicago machine saw a power vacuum they could move into. Hillary and Bill Clinton are strictly hick-stick compared to Chicago, so they got steam rollered. The Chicago machine has taken some hits, but I think we can expect Obama and his backers to move to block the investigations.

I don't see any way for the Republicans to make any gains in 2010, mainly because the Republicans don't have any organization to counter Chicago.

If we wait til 2010 it will be too late.
If the GOP wants to make a comeback it must start right now by standing on principle, defending and rallying the support of the American people, it must pick thge most important battles strategically, and challenge Obama and the Democrats with everything they've got.

Now is the time for staunch opposition, compromise will only pave the way for a third party to emerge and split the GOP.

Some will say--
Some will say that if we have a strong conservative for the Repubs who wants to rid the country of all illegals, complete the fence put troops on the border, jail the enablers of illegals, cut off the drug line and cut foreign aid to pennies that this person could not be elected. I beg to differ, reasoning says that in a couple of years or sooner the overload plus possible shamnesty could take place, plus more sell outs by The BO Trio,(BHO, prune reid, and p-lousey). People in general will want solid answers, and will be desparate for a real positve change. Just a thought or two.

Why Wait??
Why wait till 2010? What about local elections? Have you ever spent time on the GOP web-site. It is lousy. There are broken links. Users cannot really be users unless they are elite media peronalities. Until the GOP comes out of the dark ages, they will always be one step behind. We are in the middle of the information technology boom. The GOP is living in the early 90's.

Until the GOP produces a real concervative, they will never rise to reclaim all the ground the is currently being lost to the left.

Catx Cries
I may be an idiot Catx (however our best testing proves otherwise) but one thing I’m not is some whining, alcoholic, crybaby, mind numbed, Opra watching, liberal, hippie, d-bag, welfare junkie (like you)! Weather you libs or the republicrats like it, I was the one of the millions who stayed home on election day and because ME and the rest of the base who are sick of the government corruption the Rebuplicrats are either going out of power for good or they are going to morph into a real party with the testicular fortitude to fight you lying vermin the same way you fight us. Don’t get too used to cocaine barry surrendering around the world my friend, real Americans are close bye and we are laughing at cocaine barry’s weak kneed apologies to Islam, he is nothing but a liberal coke head on a power trip.

Goshawk, JD's Son, Greyhawk, Etal
Great posts, Hawkings in not mildly optimistic, Edna, he is wildly optimistic and those pointing out that the One will not allow dissention and that Stalin's motto is the Dem motto in that they control who counts the votes. I wish to God that we can change course via elections, but I am not that optimistic anymore.

I have written to my Senators and representative until I am blue in the face. They don't care. Send all the teabag tags and strings you want, they don't give a rat's a$$.

When a reason for your comeback
is "How much lower can the Republicans go?"

You've got a long way to go! "How much worse could it get?" Maybe when your commentators incite violence which results in the killing cops! That's pretty low imo, but I doubt its the bottom for conservatives.

7 Reasons Maybe Not in 2010
1. The Republican Leadership is not even known yet.

2. The Republican Party can't make their minds up about whether they want to go the way of, what has lately been called the "Rush Limbaugh" path...or if they want to bring on more watered-down Liberalism.

3. In a little over a year and a half from now, there will be fewer of the elderly that might lean Republican and a few more 18 year-olds that will probably lean Democrat.

4. In the same timeframe as nr. 3, there will be more immigrant citizens that generally favor Democrats.

5. By the 2010 elections, the Democrats will have reshaped a number of voting districts according to their findings in the "Census" they're so interested in.

6. By 2010, ACORN will be stronger than it is now and will have far more illegal voters on the rolls.

7. The Welfare rolls will have increased a good bit by November 2010. We know how they generally vote.

terry has some good points
When you consider Minnesota and consider what Acorn gets away with, you gotta figure we're going to lose every close election. Every kid out of college that I talk to, seem so think republicans are nazis. The trends are not good.

sdf
You're implying that conservative commentators are in danger of becoming as depraved as liberals? That certainly be a lot lower.

Hysteria
Any conservative who is not concerned about our political future is in denial, however the real hysteria seems to infect the liberal posts I find here. I think John Hawkins is overly optimistic but it looks like the trolls are afraid he's right.

Besides,

now that Maobama, the obamanation, has revealed himself to be a coward many who were only anti-Bush in voting for him will be seeking a courageous man to be president.

In addition, many of the same will not vote for a man who is obeisant to the King of Saudi Arabia.

I think Maobama's plan is to have the U.S. in a serious military operation by the end of 2011 because he knows how rare it is for Americans to change presidents during a war.

The GOP Is Finished
We need to kill off the GOP for good and get a conservative party to take the place of the RINO party. After the GOP gets hammered again in 2010 it will be a good time to finish off the RINOs

ROBYN GA

.....Thars a whole lot of ignorance goin' on out thar ...beware of the mindless mob .....COLOSSUS

A non-partisan view
I'm a registered non-partisan because I don't think it's ethical to register with a party and then vote for another party, but at times, I've found myself needing to do just that. Usually, I vote AK Independence when I feel the need to protest. We elected a governor once and he was well worth it.

So, I have no faith in the Republican Party in and of itself. I have faith in conservativism. Unlike Taft, who thinks the Republican Party is getting "off the charts", I think they're trying to recall their base. For the last five years, they've been under the impression that we wanted them to spend like drunken sailors. In fact, I think many of us did. Be honest! Everybody here has a pet project they think gov't should finance, at least one. Now we've remembered where that leads and we're demanding fiscal responsibility from our elected leaders. The Republicans in Congress voted for the House and Senate versions of the budget, but they voted against the final version ofthe bill, showing that they're listening. Yes, some of them voted for the various "bailout" bills, though except for the three Republican sell-outs none of voted for THE spendulous package. I'm not altogether upset over that. Some spending by gov't during a recession is necessary to provide some form of safety net. I've worked hard for 20 years and not taken any unemployment, but if I lose my job next week, I'm going to need something to live on. That makes sense to me. Take care of people who have been taking care of themselves so that they don't turn to crime to feed themselves and end up in prison rather than returning to the work force. That makes sense and -- for many of us -- we've more than paid into the system in payroll deductions.

I believe the Republicans are paying attention to conservatives once more. Whether that will last long enough for them to win the election of 2010 -- we'll see. The budget vote, though, was encouraging.

Easy prediction
Obama hasn't been in office for 100 days yet, but he has been changing America radically at a feverish pace. The "controversial" label is hanging on him like his dowdy grumpy frumpy wife. The guy can't seem to propose a change or approve a change that half the country doesn't HOWL at. We're going to be reaching critical mass looooong before the mid-terms. I can feel it. Liberals...prepare to drop your jaws and utter: Wha' tha' Fah??????"""

Breaking Poll Numbers: Bad for GOP
For what polls are worth the latest does not bode well for the GOP and in fact further undermines Mr. Hawkins' argument.

NYT/CBS;

1)58% hold unfavorable view of GOP.

2)34% hold unfavorable view of Dems.

3)22% feel GOP cares about their concerns.

4)57% feel Dems care about their concerns.

5)20% feel GOP is capable of making right decisions on the economy.

6)63% feel Obama is capable of making the right decisions on the economy.

7)27% feel the GOP is more likely to keep the country safe.

8)61% feel that Obama is more likely to keep the country safe.

Sign of the times: Quote from a prominent Republican strategist, John Ferry, appearing on the Andrea Mitchell show today (4/7/09): “Republicans are having trouble attracting voters to their ideas.”

Ted Stevens

Judge orders investigation of Stevens prosecutors
Associated Press
April 7, 2009

WASHINGTON – A judge has dismissed charges against former Sen. Ted Stevens because of prosecutorial misconduct and has ordered a criminal contempt investigation of the prosecutors.

“In nearly 25 years on the bench, I’ve never seen anything approaching the mishandling and misconduct that I’ve seen in this case,” U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan said in the opening moments of a hearing.

Sullivan read a stinging summary of the many times the government withheld evidence or mishandled witnesses in the case.

Stevens was convicted of lying on Senate financial forms about gifts he received from wealthy friends. But Attorney General Eric Holder asked that the case be dismissed, saying Stevens did not receive a fair trial.

Stevens narrowly lost re-election just days later, falling to Democrat Mark Begich. He had been in the Senate 40 years, making him the longest-serving Republican senator when he was defeated.

I'm in love with a wing nut
Please let Michele Bachman speak in front of camera's or on radio more often. That will FOR SURE bring the GOP back!

Reply to SJ Gulitti from NY
Of course, this poster, Mr/s Gulitti is from the great Socialist State of New York, and is therefore a mime who believes that the government should tend to us and tell us what to do from Birth to Death. These mind-dead Socialists love socialism, and they love the idea of socialists who want to Tax Those Who Work and pay taxes, and also own property and have to pay even more taxes to support the Deadbeats who vote for democrats. So, your Opinion Mr/s Gulitti means nothing, and if I want to get an opinion poll, I poll the folks who I know agree with me. This is what the Liberal Pollsters do, and the MSM is behind most opinion polls, and the MSM has ZERO credibility period. So, your little post means absolutely nothing except to other Mind Dead dummies such as yourself. So, thanks for you input, but it is absolutely meaningless. Just as meaningless as your opinions which are formed by the MSM and the idiots you watch and listen to, including this Communist president, Barack Hussein Obama.

It all boils down to
will the average American voter WAKE UP and vote these traitors OUT in 2010? And again vote OUT Obama and his cronies in 2012?

THAT is the question.

I just hope (oh that word!) that enough people are beginning to wake up to the awful reality of having this socialist in the White House.

There are more lawsuits being filed against Obama concerning his birth certificate. The truth MUST come to light!

Republicianism
With the masterful job the cowboy and his vigilantes did to the U.S,in war losses, economy, it will be years and years before the American People regain there confidence in the party of crooked bankers, crooked fund manager and a failed legal system, and foreign policies.

JD, you have a good point
"...No change will happen in this country until our economy has collapsed and we are really attacked so that every American is faced with two very unpleasant choices: return to vigilance and self reliance, or be enslaved and die..."

Sadly, more and more I am coming to this horrible conclusion myself. I suggest everyone get their house in order - stock up on canned goods and ammo.

Be prepared indeed.

Republican Party primaries are rigged
Adding to kbTexan's list, there are mechanical problems with the Republican party which need to be fixed. Last year's primary was rigged by the party leadership to elect a RINO, either McCain or Giuliani. It was rigged with winner-take-all voting in huge Democratic states, as well as the Republican candidates and media refusing to attack the candidates and have a real debate. Candidates like Romney took a dive by dropping out too soon, and by cutting non-aggression pacts with McCain (Huckabee).

The result is that while the Democratic candidates fought all the way to the election, the Republican race was decided almost before real campaigning began, and by Democratic votes.

This is a fundamental problem with the Republican party, the idea that we can't criticize each other, and that having a primary of any length will be a "circular firing squad" which will hand victory to the Democrats. Actually the Democrats won with their long primary and Hillary vs. Obama.

Reason Number 8
The Republican party is now the party of angry white males (overweight males in your case). I think that is a good strategy, as the voting block is getting younger and more diverse Republican are becoming whiter and older. Good luck...

Spot on, Sparky !
I've always wanted to say that.

Jabba
Truly, Michelle is an excellent candidate for higher office and as an effective spokesperson for the conservatives. Hopefully she'll run against Amy in 2010.

Taking Our Country Back
What it will take to take this country back is to expose the Communists and traitors such as Barack Hussein Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank, Maxine Waters, and all their ilk, and demand that they be impeached, and in some cases charged, and tried for the traitorous acts they have committed and are continuing to commit. Especially, Barack Hussein Obama, who has been in Europe and the Middle East the past week bashing this country and everything it stands for. He acts like he is speaking for this country, when in fact, he is only speaking for the lunatic fringe in this country that adore this communist.

People have become too cowardly to call this Communist what he is, a communist and a traitor to this nation.

Obama acts like everything this country stands for and has stood for for over two hundred years was all a mistake, and that he, is the only good thing that has ever happened to this country.

This Narcissistic Serial Liar must be stopped. A petition to have him impeached needs to be circulated now. In every letter I send to the U.S. congress is encouraging this move. If we allow Obama and the traitors who are now in charge of this country have their way, we will be A Fascist Country, and it will take years and years to undo the damage these criminal traitors will do.

Recovered Lib
"Sadly, more and more I am coming to this horrible conclusion myself. I suggest everyone get their house in order - stock up on canned goods and ammo.

Be prepared indeed."

Great ideas! But first, deed your house over to News Corp. and send all your money to Glenn Beck.

Isn't that what nutbags do before the Apocalypse?

Democrat Party is Party of Deadbeats
Another poster commented that the conservative republicans are mostly older white and overweight males. It is true that most older white males are conservative, and there is a reason for this. They have worked for a living and contributed to society, and they fully, completely and justifiably resent the Liberal Democrats who have created their power base by using the tax dollars they pay to buy voting blocs, such as the Welfare Bloc. Most older white males are veterans who love this country and tend to be patriotic. Most older white males have worked, paid taxes, bought property, started businesses and other things that have paid for the running of this government, and they resent that we have leaders such as Barack Hussein Obama bashes them, and at the same time, promises to tax them even more while cutting the military while expanding welfare programs and at the same time turning this country into a fascist dictatorship.

So, you liberal deadbeats and lunatics who love Obama, you also need to remember a couple of other things. Those older and perhaps over weight white males are also courageous and are not cowards like you scumbags, and they will defend themselves, their homes, and their country. Were it not for these White Males who have made this country work as long as it had, you deadbeats and ingrates would not even have the freedoms you do to be able to be smartasses, while sitting home and receiving your welfare checks.

Greyhawk Take a pill and go lay down
Last I checked, nobody was on my front porch looking to steal my house. I'm guessing you'll be OK tonight, too, just make sure your security system is turned on and your First Alert in case you fall (Help I've fallen and can't reach my beer).

Chill out, you're overreacting.

Obama Voting Blocs
What is pathetic about all this is that 99.99 percent of blacks vote liberal democrat generally, and will always vote color over substance even when voting for liberal democrats.

The liberal democrats always get the majority of the black votes because it was the liberal democrats who started the welfare and other social-engineering projects designed to creat Slaves to the Democrat Party. The blacks in this country whether thin, fat, male or female vote Liberal Democrat almost exclusively, and if two Liberals are running side by side, but one is white and the other is black, the blacks will vote almost exclusively for the black candidate simply because they are black. This is sad. It is sad when people are so ignorant and practice this sort of politics. But, of course, the Liberal Democrats knew what they were doing when they started the Welfare State. They knew that they could buy voters as long as they continue and expand the welfare state. What blacks and poor people generally have not figured out is that these Liberal Democrats do not truly care about them as human beings. They only care that these folks vote for them. The liberal policies have all but destroyed black families. Before the welfare state was started beginning with Lyndo B. Johnson, most all black families were in tact. Most black families loved one another, disciplined their children, worked for a living, and attended church. Now, 40 plus years later, the offspring of these proud and hardworking black families have been reduced to being welfare recipients and have lost their identities as families, and their children run in gangs and kill one another while dealing and selling drugs. If I were black, I would hate the Liberals who have done more to Enslave Blacks than Slavery ever did. And, of course, this was the Liberal Democrat Plan. They know that when people are well educated and understand what is going on, they are hard to control.

They're Just Not Into You

Do you know that a Congressman like Barney Frank will have a pension of ~$97,500 every year from the day he retires until he dies?

Do you know that he will get the top of the line healthcare for free until he dies?

Do you know that he will still be eligible for Social Security and Medicare?

Do you know that even the highest paid CEOs might be eligible for Social Security and Medicare?

Do you understand that shareholders can fire the CEO for any reason, but that Congressmen ABHOR term limits?

Do you realize that Congress taxed you and your heirs without even reading the legislation?

Do you comprehend that most Liberals, who are wealthy, live in districts that are impoverished?

Do you think that their REGRESSIVE taxes on energy when India and Chinese could give a flying fig about Globull Warming and cigarettes to PAY for CHILDREN's health is indicative of how much they care for you, the taxpayer?

Do you really think that they care more about you than in their own power?

To use one Liberal's word, it is "pathetic" that you constantly defend them?

BTW, would you like $90,000 in a frozen Eggo box?

Reply to Robert in Mn
Robert, do not worry about me. I am one of those older white guys that you guys fear. I do not take pills. I do not drink beer. I do not have to lock my doors where I live, and I certainly do not have fear. It is you liberals who are filled with fear, and that is why you want and believe that you need a government to take care of and defend you. As for home protection, I do not lock my doors, but God forbid the fool that decides to walk in uninvited. I will call 911, right after the fool dies of lead poisoning.

So, rest assured Robert, we conservative white males will still be around to fight future wars to defend the gutless and worthless deadbeats such as yourself, and your right to be wise guys and cowards.

Greyhawk - You wonder why Blacks vote
for Liberals? Read your own post:

"Those older and perhaps over weight white males are also courageous and are not cowards like you scumbags, and they will defend themselves, their homes, and their country. Were it not for these White Males who have made this country work as long as it had, you deadbeats and ingrates would not even have the freedoms you do to be able to be smartasses, while sitting home and receiving your welfare checks."

Great Post Denise in La
Liberal supporters just do not get it. They have been had, and when the Libs are done with them, they will do the same thing Hitler did with those liberals he used, and the same thing that Stalin did to the Liberals in Russia and other parts of eastern Europe. These mindless deadbeats who vote Liberal democrats are ignorant, and they can thank the liberals for this too. The U.S. government took over public education in the mid 1960's and have taken us from #3 in the world in educational outcomes to #28. Was this an Accident? No, it is communist Rule #13, TAke the Minds and Hearts of the Children. They did this by dumbing down and brainwashing our kids in public schools. And, Obama is proposing to make Mandatory Attendance now from age 4 to 18. These communists do not want to Leave Even One Child Behind Who is Not Dumbed Down and Brainwashed Into Being Good Little Communists. Look at the mentality of those who voted for Obama. Case Closed. Most of these idiots when polled outside the voting booths did not even know that the Democrats controlled Congress. They had listened to so much Obama Propaganda about Bush and Republicans that the idiot democrat Obama voters thought he congress was also run by Republicans. And, this is just the tip of the iceberg as ignorance goes amongst Obama and Liberal Democrat voters. Obama knew this and so do all the Liberals. They use the ignorance in the population to stay in power.

No Robert in Mn
No Robert, I do not wonder why blacks vote Liberal Democrats. I know why, and have already explained it to you, you moron.

Greyhawk
As usual your posts are direct and to the point. I wish I could say exactly what you have said, because I agree with every point you made.

The south will not cower in fear when push comes to shove. The saying 'I'd rather be dead than red' could be the south's motto. We will show them better than we can tell them.

Most of us will not easily give up what we have worked so hard to have. We have always given to the non-productive. None appreciate it.

What to DO about it!
Despite what is happening under the Democrats today, the Republicans lost our trust all on their own. They did not govern conservatively when they had the reins. This column is some small bit of evidence that maybe they have figured that out a bit now, and are pulling their heads out of their collective Democratic Spokes-animals.

If you are wondering if there is anything that we as individuals can do that might make a difference, beyond posting here, then you might enjoy reading a piece on my blog here, The Singing Pig. I know that it's a bit of trouble to do. But, I think you will enjoy reading it. And perhaps you will care to join me in a little protest action.

Up in the banner section, there is a link called "blogs". Click it, and search for "Singing Pig". That'll get you there. If you have a comment, I'd love to read it. If you like it well enough, please feel free to send it along to anyone else you think might like it. Heck, copy and paste it into you own blog somewhere else if you want to.

My daughter has told me a few times now, that attending a Tea Party on April 15th, isn't going to make any difference. And she may be right about that. I don't care. I'm going anyway, merely as a matter of walking my talk. They aren't really principles to my mind, if you don't act on them when the opportunity arises.

Taking Our Country Back

Democrat Party is Party of Deadbeats

REJOINDER:

Dearest Greyhawk, do you have anything to offer the discussion other than allot of mindless hot rhetoric and unsubstantiated blather? Do you know the difference between Karl Marx and Harpo Marx? In a police line up could you identify V.I. Lenin if he was standing next to the deceased John Lennon?

All of your above entries a are just garden variety Kool-aid fuelled pedantic rhetoric that shows to some extent just how much trouble the GOP is currently in, thanks in a large part to their out of control “fellow travelers” among the wing-nut right.

Political commentary is a big boys game, how about coming up with some articles or some stats from the conservative side to substantiate your article. It appears to me that you are just another malcontent on this site that can’t come to grips with the fact that your side lost and perhaps your cherished ideas are currently out of fashion and may be so for the immediate future. How much of your conception of America is based on historical fact and how much is the function of your own fantasy?

It is clowns like you and their contrived view of America, and what it should be that are behind this latest high water mark of right wing lunacy embodied in the shooting of three Pittsburgh police officers, in the of duty, by a wing nut who was upset about a “Zionist" takeover of the American government and the contrived fears that the federal government would deprive him of his popguns.

If you want to continue to publicly embarrass yourself with the sort of stuff you put out here, be my guest. You’re the guy getting laughed at.

Advice from fools is ignored!!!
SJGulitti in Ny--Hey dude. You are the one who is out of touch with reality. We do not intend to allow this country to become a member of a one-world communist country of cowards as Obama is proposing. Obviously you have not been paying attention to this man and his background, and the spectacle he just made over in Europe and the middleast, including bowing to a Muslim King in Saudi Arabia. But, of course, Obama owes most of his success to the Muslims in Saudi Arabia. They funded his eduation and they also gave tens of millions to his campaign for president. Now, this Communist Obama, is paying back all the nations, unions and others who bought the election for him. Obama is a Narcissist with delsuions of grandeur and sees himself as invincible, but I assure you, the liberal democrats are only temporarily in control of this nation. Most Americans will not stand idly by while these folks enslave us to the government and foreign nations with this outrageous spending spree they are on, while dismantling the military and our defenses. So, SJG in NY, do not worry about me. I do not care what opinion others have of me. In fact, for a fool such as yourself to disagaree with me is considered a compliment by me. Because if I were liked by the likes of you, that would mean that I was something like you. God forbid.

Reply to Rowly in Ga
Ditto Rowly. Great to hear from you. Would it not be nice to meet some of our liberal brothers out in cyberland, and how they live an exist. I would hate to know that I was so ignorant and had been dumbed down to the point that I did not recognize a scoundrel when I see and hear one. Obama and these fools get on TV and the Spin Meisters spin their communist rhetoric and the average American listening to this garbage do not question any of it, and of course, they do not know and understand the history of Communism or history, generally. They only know what they have seen on TV and in the movies and cannot separate fact from fiction. The liberals control the media including TV, the movies, and most of the other so called stuff we now euphemistically call entertainment in this country. It is no wonder the populace is so ignorant after having their heads filled with mush 24-7. They have very serious mental problems and believe themselves sane. It is as Michael Savage so succinctly puts it: "Liberalism is a mental disorder." And, of course it is. Delusional thinking. Narcissism. Traits of all Liberal Leaders, and Obama leads the Mentally Ill pack in these particular mental and character defects.

Again, good to hear from you. Keep blogging and keep these Mindless Libs straight. Who knows, might even be able to re-educate some of them. If I did not think that education worked, I would quit doing this on these sites and also in my everyday life.

Greyhawk@ 7:42 4/7/09
I would remind you of the incident that occurred during the 2008 presidential campaign when a doddering old woman from rural Pennsylvania was carrying on about Obama being a Muslim and John McCain then took the microphone away from her and totally refuted what she said. Thereafter he said: Obama is a good man, a family man and someone who would make a good president. He than said that he himself believed that he, McCain that is, would in fact make a better president.

Who is the “we” that don’t intend to let this country become a “communist nation”? Do you have any idea what actually constitutes communism? If you and your “we” think you are going to overturn the will of the American people who legally put the current government in office, I would assure you that you and your fellow “true Americans” will be rounded up by law enforcement and find yourselves sitting in a sports stadium but it won’t be for the purpose of watching the Crimson tide play L.S.U. Stop fooling yourself and snap out of the fantasy you are currently beholden too.

Again, I ask you, do you have anything to support your contentions other than your own, unsubstantiated and severely biased opinion?

DEFINITIONS
Socialism:
1) any fo various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the econony

2) the stage in marxist-leninist theory intermediate between capitalism and communism.

Communism:
a scheme fo equalizing the social conditions of life; specifically, a scheme which contemplates the abolition of inequalities in the possession of property, as by distributing all wealth equally to all, or by holding all wealth in common for the equal use and advantage of all.

these are not my words. They come from a dictonary, so by definition, regardless of denials by the liberal left, Obama and the ideologies of the modern Democrapic Party are Communistic and Socialism.

We in the free world celebrated the fall of communism and pointed to it's demise as proof socialism does not work. After all, if I can get as much as the next guy, and don't have to work, why should I? Communism and Socialism causes stagnation in a society. hard work is not rewarded, nor is innovation or invention. It did not work in the 20th century, why would we believe it will work in the 21st?

Please, any liberal out-there, enlighten us...

Type-o
the definition of communism should read: a scheme OF...sorry, my editor missed that one
:-O

Read Obama's history. Who are his heros? Who are his associates? Where did he attend church for the past 20 years?
Check it out for yourself. And, Mr. SJ, nobody has talked about doing anything illegal. I am talking about how we conservatives, starting right where we live, are going to elect fellow and lady-conservatives and get this government back to the business of doing legitimate government business. The U.S. government was never intended to be in charge of schools, a welfare state, medicine, banks, auto industries, etc. And, states rights were built into the U.S. constitution for a reason, and Obama and the current legislature have just about dismantled the bill of rights and especially the states rights amendment.

As for the will of the people being served by the government they elected. Who were these voters? All deadbeats voted Obama. When government becomes an instrument to take from those who achieve and then give it to those who will not work, this is fraud and this is abuse of power. If the Republicans were the ones promoting the Welfare State, they too could buy elections using taxpayer monies to do it. If we had literacy laws to vote, most liberal democrats would not be allowed to vote. And, if subversive groups such as ACORN, who are funded by taxpayer dollars, were not allowed to go out and register democrat voters, eithe legal or illegal, there would even be fewer deadbeats who vote. And, Mr. SJ in NY, this will be my last reply to you. Get a life. And, if you want to check out the things I say, do some research and stop listening to the MSM.

Desires Masquerading as Predictions

Hawkins has a clear problem distinguishing between what he hopes for and what a rational analysis might predict. Consequently, his predictions have been consistently wrong, as this one will be. Given the current trajectory of opinion as evidenced by this blog and the various polls, the GOP looks to lose even more ground in 2010. Hopefully that will convince even the most ardent GOPer that a modernization of their position is necessary to garner majority support. If that means you don't call it "conservatism" any more, so be it.

re: science avenger
like the handle BTW : ) Correct, the GOP will not appeal to the majority until they come up with solutions to problems. The current Republican legislators voting in unison against the stimulus bill and budget is not returning to conservatism, it is political opportunism: they are safe from actually having an effect on the bill's passage (a yes or no vote on their part would still result in the bill's passage), and they can trumpet to their base they have returned to principles, without having to lift a finger to propose legitimate solutions to our major issues: economic reform, health care reform, and educational reform. Until the GOP is ready to propose real solutions, not ideology, they will will not gain any ground.

Well I am glad that at least as far as your first paragraph goes, you are starting to come forth with a reasoned argument. Moreover, I am especially glad that you are not one to advocate extralegal, undemocratic violence. Surely, the F.B.I. is now closely monitoring all manner of media for extremist content following the Pittsburgh incident. After all, who can forget Oklahoma City?

Nonetheless you slip back into that “angry old white man” syndrome with your second paragraph:

“All deadbeats voted Obama. When government becomes an instrument to take from those who achieve and then give it to those who will not work, this is fraud and this is abuse of power. If the Republicans were the ones promoting the Welfare State, they too could buy elections using taxpayer monies to do it. It is not incumbent for me to go out and dig up information so as to substantiate your arguments that is for you to do. You made the claim, you do the homework that is if you want other than the blind faith crowd to take your ideas seriously.

Thank you. I believe southern families will be able to withstand so much more than others. We are different. Especially those of us who have lived here all our lives.

Reason #7
is the key in my view. I heard Michael Savage report today that Obama declined to visit the crosses at Normandy because he didn't want to offend Germans. Not only is such a statement utterly ridiculous, it is beyond shameful.

Similarly, I heard Obama say today that this country is not a Christian nation, but a nation of "citizens." Along the same lines, I heard him trumpeting the alleged contributions that the Muslim religion has made to America.

In short, there is only so much of this nonsense that Americans will stand for before they rightfully conclude that this embarassment must be stopped in his tracks.

With All Due Respect
I do not think so. Your numbers may be right, but the American People have figured out that the lesser of the two evils, Republicans, are just as bad as the Democrats. They helped pass a lot of these Punitive Taxes and Laws that are destroying the poor and middle class to pay for their bridges today. You see Republicans are held accountable for their failures, and Democrats blame President Bush or anyone accept themselves if they get busted. In fact the Democrats never believe that they do anything wrong, and "ALL" of those in the media agrees with them. I have been laughing my blank off watching them struggle with looking in the mirror and trying to spin reasons for their President. No the American People will punish the Republicans for a long time. You have got to give it to the American People, they are fair and balanced. That's why they elect Democrats to punish them for being stupid enough to elect Republicans in the first place. Just look at the beating they have received in less than 90 days. Obama and the Waxmans really know how to use the WHIP. I really miss that compassionate crap when their Whip hits my back.

O
you people have been enveloped in this forum for good or for bad for so long, you don't even recognize when you are being "used". Your hypocrisy knows no bounds. good luck with your out-dated ideas and your tired critisicm of the elected president. the teleprompter thing is getting really old, and it does nothing but show how little you really have a legitimate complaint against our president. he writes his own speeches: unlike, bushhhhh, who is a (well,a priveleged little f*ck, who is incapable of broad thinking, let alone communicating effectively in public.)

The anti-Democrats
I disagree with Hawkin's that the Republican Party gives a "a clear, unequivocal choice". No one knows what the Republicans would do if they were put back in power again. All Republican politicians ever talk about is how bad the Democrats are, saying that we should elect them as the "lesser of two evils". There is no new Contract with American or any Republican ideas at all. Year after year, all Republican politicians do is talk about how bad the Democrats are, not what they believe in. They demonized Bill Clinton when he was president, then demonized Hillary Clinton figuring she would get the Democratic nomination last year, and now are focusing on Obama.

In the meantime, as Hawkins admits, the Bush administration and Republican Congress were "a pile of mush" that accomplished nothing conservative. The party leadership rammed through RINO McCain's nomination in six weeks.

Voting "no" on some of Obama's legislation doesn't prove that the Republican politicians have changed. They are still the anti-Democrats, hoping that we will elect them without knowing what they stand for and what they will do if elected.

Teleprompter
Hey jason:

Axelrod writes his speeches, and Oblunder was going to prep schools. Now he is taking away childrens ability to go to private schools like his two little brats. Privledged you say? How about you verify Oblunder with some school records or MAYBE A BIRTH CERTIFICATE!! HE IS A FACIST PIG AND MAY A GITMO ENEMY COMBATANT BUTT**** YOU!

SDF
You said: "Maybe when your commentators incite violence which results in the killing cops!"

Are the hundreds of Obambiland killers in the Murder Capital of the U.S. (Chicago), influenced by talk radio and conservative commentators?

Can you see the forest for the trees? Or is the "chic" regurgitation of liberal talking points your only forte?

Reason #8
Take apage from Saul Alinsky's book -- mark your targets, divide them and conquer them. We need to mark which groups in the Dem party we can peal off. For example, The Greens Vs the Unions.

How did it happen that the democrats were able to get the UAW rank and file to vote against its own best interests and side with the Greens favoring the elimintation of dinosaur-burning vehicles that everybody wants, with myterious-fuel consuming vehicles that nobody wants? Simple...

The UAW's job (any union's job, really) is to secure for its members good paying, respectful work long into the future. The greens want fossil fuels to go away and cars that burn them to be replaced with hybrids.

At 2$/gal Americans want SUVs and pickups, at 4$ per gallon they'll settle for hybrids. But even at 4$/gal the numberof hybrids produced will never approach the number of SUVs and pickups produced at 2$/gal. So let's say at 2$/gal ther are 100,000 SUVs made but only 10,000 Hybrids, but at 4$/gal there are only 50,000 SUVs and 25,000 hybrids. In this case going green means 25% fewer vehicles are produced.

This means that if the greens get their way that fewer UAW jobs will be needed to service the needs of American consumers, and that is not in the interest of any member of the UAW. It is time for the UAW to break off from the evil greens and fight for the workers they claim to represent. Workers of America, Wake Up!!!

Face Facts!
Liberals will always try to take from the producers and trade it for votes from people who are not productive. In the US these people are called democrats. The only salvation for us who produce is to vote in every election for those poloticos who under stand this concept. Every politico should have no more than Two(2) terms of service, just like the President. Term limits imposed on pols at every level is our only option to keep the dummocrats and their fellow travelers in check. Maybe this election is a wakeup call for the Repubs to go back to their core conservative roots. God Bless America.

highly optimistic!!! GOP bottom of polls
GOP's message is only about protecting the rich. Not the message that main street and rural america wants to hear. Too much grandstanding on the part of some GOP wingnuts keep the sane GOP message from showing up.

2010
Perhaps the GOP will make a slight comeback, but its days are numbered. Who thinks that California would ever elect a conservative Republican as governor again? No chance. Rove and Bush's stupid "Hispanic play" will not work. Poor people will vote in large numbers for a party that will (1) give them benefits, and (2) give them preferential treatment in hiring/govt contracts/education. That means that Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado will be out of reach for conservatives in about 10 years. In 20 years, Texas will be out of reach too. Our country will become a politically correct "diverse" country like it or not. We have George W. Bush to thank. We also have him to thank that the GOP cannot be trusted to be fiscally responsible (2 trillion for Iraq) or strong militarily (Bin Laden is free 7+ years after 9/11). The GOP has also become the party of excuses and irresponsibility (its not Bush's fault that the Iraq war estimates were wrong or the medicare drug plan was off? whose fault was it then?).

Breaking Poll Numbers: Bad for GOP
For what polls are worth the latest does not bode well for the GOP and in fact further undermines Mr. Hawkins' argument.

NYT/CBS;

-----------------------------------

Anyone who posts a NYT/CBS Poll has no credibility. These polls are always weighted with more Dems than Repubs and the results are always skewed. I will take a Zogby or Rasmussen Poll over the nutwads at NYT and CBS any day.

My grown children voted for the Marxist Messiah and I will say that only one out of three are still hanging with their Savior. The other two and their spouses are wishing they could take their votes back. I try to resist telling them "I told you so...." Well, not really.

Obama is a phony, empty suit, elitist who just flew in a Pizza Chef from Missouri (860 miles) just to make pizza's for him and his staff. You can read about it at:

Guess the "carbon footprint" nonsense doesn't matter when you have a jones for pizza! What a guy!

"R " Tedisco Is Gonna Beat "D" Murphy !
From your lips to God's ears! This will be the first shot across the bow of the Obummer administration. The second shot will be the Tea Parties which now number almost 2,000 across the nation. The third shot will be heard round the world and will be the Million Citizen March on Washington DC in September. We are mad, we are organized and we will take our country back. We will force term limits with our votes. We the People can be a powerful force once we are pushed too far.
