Poll
Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

When the Obama administration crashes and burns, with approval ratings that fall through the floor, political scientists can trace its demise to its first hundred days. While Americans are careful not to consign a presidency they desperately need to succeed to the dustbin of history, the fact is that this president has moved -- on issue after issue -- in precisely the opposite direction of what the people want him to do.

Right now, Obama's ratings must be pleasing to his eye. Voters like him and his wife immensely, and approve of his activism in the face of the economic crisis. While polls show big doubts about what he is doing, the overwhelming sense is to let him have his way and pray that it works.

But beneath this superficial support, Obama's specific policies run afoul of very deeply felt feelings by American voters. For example, the most recent Rasmussen Poll asked voters if they wanted an economic system of complete free enterprise or wanted more government involvement in managing the economy. By 77 percent to 19 percent, they voted against a government role, up seven points from last month.

And in the Fox News poll -- the very same survey that gave Obama a 62 percent approval and reported that 68 percent of voters are "satisfied" with his first hundred days -- voters supported a smaller government that offered fewer services over a larger government that provided more by 50 percent to 38 percent.

By 42 percent to 8 percent, the Fox News poll (conducted on April 22-23) found that voters felt Obama had expanded government rather than contracted it (42 percent said it was the same size), and by 46 percent to 30 percent they reported believing that big government was more of a danger to the nation than big business. (They said Obama felt big business was more dangerous by 50 percent to 23 percent).

By 62 percent to 20 percent, they said government spending, under Obama, was "out of control."

So if voters differ so fundamentally with the president on the very essence of his program, why do they accord him high ratings? They are like the recently married bride who took her vows 100 days ago. It would be a disaster for her if she decides that she really doesn't like her husband. But she keeps noticing things about him that she can't stand. It will be a while before she walks out the door or even comes to terms with her own doubts, but it is probably inevitable that she will.

For Americans to conclude that they disapprove of their president in the midst of an earth-shaking crisis is very difficult. But as Obama's daily line moves from "I inherited this mess" to "there are faint signs of light," the clock starts ticking. If there is no recovery for the next six months -- and I don't think there will be -- Obama will inevitably become part of the problem, not part of the solution.

And then will come his heavy lifting. He has yet to raise taxes, regiment health care or provide amnesty for illegal immigrants. He hasn't closed down the car companies he now runs, and he has not yet forced a 50-percent hike in utility bills with his cap and trade legislation. These are all the goodies he has in store for us all.

Obama's very activism these days arrogates to himself the blame for the success or failure of his policies. Their outcome will determine his outcome, and there is no way it will be positive.

Why?

A) You can't borrow as much as he will need to without raising interest rates, which hurts the economy.

B) The massive amount of spending will trigger runaway inflation once the economy starts to recover.

C) His overhaul of the tax code (still in the planning phases) and his intervention in corporate management will create such business uncertainty that nobody will invest in anything until they see the lay of the land.

D) His bank program is designed to help banks, but not to catalyze consumer lending. And his proposal for securitization of consumer loans won't work and is just what got us into this situation.

So, Mr. Obama should enjoy his poll numbers while he can.

TD2008 Of Kansas

Why didn't your mother visit Dr. Tiller days before her due date with you?

It would have saved you from serfdom and us from your insanity.

No, actually...
the more popular Rush and Fox become, the worse off RINOs become. Now the real question is - what are the alternatives?

It's already happening
I work at a major left-leaning research university. Everyone I know here voted for O, and they did so eagerly. Yet three of my friends admitted to me in the last two weeks that O's not quite what they thought he'd be. Not that they would change their vote, of course, but even these libs are slightly bewildered by some of O's actions in his first 100 days. One voiced that he hoped it was just "growing pains." Another even commented that O wasn't quite as articulate as she had thought during the campaign. And a third told me just today that Benedict Arnold's defection was not good for the dems and especially for O, because with the Dems now fillabuster-proof in the senate, they will no longer be able to blame any failures over the next two years on Republicans though they will undoubtedly still try!). In other words, O will own all his failures. OMG, you mean that everything wrong with the country will no longer be W's fault?! That fact must truly terrify the Dems!

Like Miss Cleo...
I see Dick Morris is waving his hands over his crumb encrusted crystal ball again.

Sorry Dick but your precognitive skills only reflect your wishful thinking. You feed a anti-Obama narrative because that's how you keep you job on Fox News.It's obvious that you established your conclusion first then collected scraps of data to support it.

Your analysis is a hodge podge of conjecture based on cherry picked polling data . Ramussen seems to be the poll of choice lately. But those polls use a Likely Voter formula which is dubious 3.5 years before the next Presidential Election.

It doesn't matter what Obama's approval numbers are at the next election. He has a solid base that is growing and will remain enthusiastic. If the Republicans can not find candidates that register more than a moan then election results will be the same. If the Republicans can not find and adopt a fresh new approach on issues that register to moderates, independents and some progressives; you can just hang it up.

But I'll admit that you are good at feeding rancid lion meat to the republicans to chew on.

"Yes, We Can!" In Iran

If it worked for Obama, why wouldn't Ahmadinejad use the same slogan for his campaign?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/04/28/ahmadinejad-borrow s-obama_n_192460.html

Maybe, he can slapped an Obama "Hope and Change" logo on the nuclear weapon Iran is in the process of finalizing with the hopes of vaporizing Israel.

TD
If you describe Dick Morris in those terms, how would you describe Barney Frank??

Sorry Greg... not buying it..
"because with the Dems now fillabuster-proof in the senate, they will no longer be able to blame any failures over the next two years on Republicans though they will undoubtedly still try"

----

I heard this story tonight almost verbatim from a guest on the panel on Hannity.

And for your other two friends are you sure they just were not humoring you ? Because he's actually more articulate now that when he started.

Funny...............

.......how you idiot liberals latch on to a column like this. It will be interesting to see which of you morons are still posting when Barry's Obamaland ride breaks down and crashes - and what excuses you will come up with informing us it isn't HIS fault.

It is obvious none of you know anything about history, if you did, you too would be able to understand what Mr. Morris has stated here is not only his opinion - but an inevitable fact of the impending failure of this administration and that Poser in Chief Barry H.O.

Obama Turns Osama's Frown To A Smile
"Americans and their country's security will be the losers. The Republicans do not have the votes to stop Obama, and the world will not be safer for America because the president abandons interrogations to please his party's left wing and the European pacifists it so admires. Both are incorrigibly anti-American, oppose the use of force in America's defense and -- like Obama -- naively believe that the West's Islamist foes can be sweet-talked into a future alive with the sound of kumbaya.

So if the above worst-case scenario ever comes to pass, Americans will have at least two things from which to take solace, even after the loss of major cities and tens of thousands of countrymen. First, they will know that their president believes that those losses are a small price to pay for stopping interrogations and making foreign peoples like us more. And second, they will see Osama bin Laden's shy smile turn into a calm and beautiful God-is-Great grin."

not even a man
O loser is not the president, and he is not even a man. The liberal freak moronic garbage of this country sent it in flames to hell by voting this "thing" in.
Now we all suffer because of libs horrible decisions and evil lifestyles. Liberal, gay loving, evil loving sickos, enjoy your no jobs, no house, no nothing except begging for food.
Real good "CHANGE".

Running against the pharmaceuticals
Obama is doing a lot of things wrong, but one of the things he's doing that will eventually resonate is this: running against the pharmaceuticals.

So-called conservatives who support forced innoculations of suspect vaccines like Gardasil are no conservatives at all: they're Socialists disguised as supporters of free enterprise. RINOs like the Texas Governor who supported the mandate injection of this dangerous crap deserve our scorn.

Obama can point to the overcharges in Medicare: in some instances, Medicare pays doctors a woefully inadequate compensation. But in other areas - I've seen a few of these - doctors can get away with the equivalent of the $900 toilet seat - (for those of you old enough to remember.)

Then there's statins, virtually useless - and statistically identical to a baby aspirin for preventing stroke and heart attack. They're overpriced (tens of billions of dollars could be saved by Medicare just using generic versions.) But the point is, the drug companies skewed the stats to make it look like they reduce a huge number of heart attacks, when NNTs (Numbers Needed to Treat) say something far different. And these drugs are proven losers, weakening an aging population, causing more disability and weakness and illness than they ameliorate.

Doctors are complicit in this; they're sowing the seeds for a medical disaster. You think the bank failures and real estate meltdowns are fearful? Wait until doctors have to sell their homes and practices to the lowest bidders (there being no high bidders) - imports from Pakistan and elsewhere.

Insurance companies, pharmaceuticals (and their "kept" physician accomplices) are going to fall under their own corruption and fat. Their lobbyists - once the fleet of Wall Street - are going to be driving Yugos. And they're all gonna make Obama look good, as painful as that is to say. I hate it, but it's gonna happen.

A Medical Depression.

Some Food For Idiots...

Hey, idiots!

Ahmadinejad is using Obama's "Yes, We Can!" slogan for his own campaign.

Iran will have nuclear weapons a lot more quickly than you would even begin to fathom. (HINT: The world intelligence community has it being within 60 days).

Ahmadinejad believes that the 12th Imam will return on 08.22.09, but Iran must reign down incredible death and destruction in order for that event to occur. The Mullahs are in agreement.

Nethanayu has placed "The Samson Option" on the table.

The Paskistani government may very well be toppled by a Taliban-allied military, according to Hillary Clinton.

AQ is smiling now that they know the least they will be subjected to is a cup of tea and the AFM.

Mexico is one the verge of collapse, economically, and as result of the narco-wars.

Illegals may very well cross the border for free medical care carrying the swine flu with them.

A DC circuit judge has ordered that all oil and gas leases in the GOM and Alaska awarded beginning in 2007 be stayed meaning that energy costs will skyrocket. Think that you are out of the woods? Consider: #1) wind and solar account for only 1% of all energy nationwide; #2) there exists no viable alternative producible in commercial quantities; #3) any alternative power for the country in the technology for complete national greening is decades away; and, #4) the EPA has already implemented a stealth cap-n-tax regulation that will increase your energy bills by 50%.

And, my Democratic Senator, Mary Landrieu, is on the record as being opposed to EFCA, cap-n-tax, and, possibly, against the FOCA.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF SPECTER'S DEFECTION
What's the significance of Specter's defection?Click my name and read my piece: The Terrible Omen of Specter's Defection: The Ghost of the 94th Congress" for the possible answer.

It's a record
I haven't seen quite so many bad ideas emerge in such a short period of time before. This hole may be too deep to ever overcome.

But, laugh it up trolls, liberals are exempt from these financial debacles, right?

It's only conservatives who will pay higher taxes, lose their jobs, pay higher energy bills, higher food prices, and receive shoddy clinic care.

Try paying your mortgage with ideology and see how far that gets you. Yours is a Pyhrric victory I fear; did half the passengers on the Titanic cheer because the hole was on the RIGHT side of the ship?

Idiots!

TD2008
So with all the problems America is facing you think the solution is more government?

As An Encore...

The founder of Ira Einhorn was defended by Arlen Specter (originally a Democrat), who also helped raise the money to post the absurdly low bond of $40K once Holly Maddux's mummified corpse was found in a trunk was found stuffed in a trunk. Granted that Einhorn was entitled to a defense, Specter's actions helped Einhorn to escape to and avoid capture in Europe for two decades.

Since I am in the O&G business, I actually know something about our national reserves. We have enough to last for, at least, 200 years. The industry is heavily regulated and more oil pollution occurs naturally (seepage) off of the coast of California (an estimated 800,000 barrels annually) than could ever be caused by the O&G industry.

You might also like to know: #1) the best fishing is located near offshore platform; #2) the last major oil catasrophe occurred in 1967 off the coast of California: and #3) the underwater environment where the blow-out occurred has actually exploded in life, which confounded the biologists that investigated the scene.

O&G will not kill you, but Goreligion might.

Opinions about Mr. Morris aside......
Anyone who would seriously debate the validity of at least his final points A and B is, at best, self-deluded.
Bob

I just don't know
As much as I would like to see the country wake up with an election hangover and wonder why they did what they did last night, I can't help but think that the die is cast and we are in a final downward trend.

The underlying conditions that enabled this jug-eared clown are static and enduring and history is no comfort as regards peaceful turnarounds. (re: "Triumph Of The Will" on Youtube)

It's not enough for an ignorant and misinformed electorate to be dissatified with conditions if they are unable to comprehend the reasons they developed and a compliant and complicit media is still at the helm of informing public opinion.

Couple that with the entrenched mindlessness displayed on this thread by his supporters and the optimistim through pessimism Mr. Morris presents loses some of its luster.

"Never underestimate the stupidity of the American people"

H.L.Mencken

Politically Correct CIA
Thanks, Denise, for inserting that link to Michael Scheuer's column. I read one of his books and was impressed with his devotion to his CIA intelligence job. Although I suspect that Clinton completely demolished the agency with his insistence that agency personnel absolutely reflect a non-discriminatory workforce with actual quotas, although not officially acknowledged. Some change when in its early days it seemed its personnel was recruited almost exclusively from Princeton and Yale. My own opinion is that the CIA is almost completely ineffective and incompetent because of Political Correctness. The Valerie Plame fiasco proves the agency has seen its best days and is run by government drones who refrain from sticking their heads up on any issue.

He inherited this mess...
But he WANTED IT. If you don't want all that comes with the job, don't apply for it.

Obama needs to stop with this mantra and LISTEN to the American people instead of reciting the same old tired lines he gives of "I inherited this mess" and "I won." Yes. Yes, you did win, Obama. But what you fail to realize is that not all Americans share your vision to a T. You work for US.

I'm beside myself on what is becoming of my country.

Nutjob, "a"
"And carbon dioxide isn't harmful because it occurs in nature, therefor it's harmless, right?"

Are you willing to cease breathing and to kill all plant life since all naturally contribute carbon dioxide to the environment.

"Why would anyone listen to a corporate attorney for big O&G regarding anything you posted? Your paycheck depends on disinformation and half-truths."

I don't ask you to trust what I say, but beg you to do your own fair and balanced verification of what I have written.

Also, if you like tyrants so much, buy more Citgo gas. Hugo Chavez will laugh his arse off at your naivete.

American Sweetheart
This "he inherited this mess" is wearing a little thin. You must remember that the Dem.s have been in control of congress since 2006 and Obama was then part of the problem since 2004 voting "present" on most of the important issues.

Air
What`s next from the libidiotic nobama administration, masks that determine how much air we breath so they can get an accurate count on how much air we breath for tax purposes or will they estimate by height and weight.Maybe they will line everyone up and shoot ever third person.Can`t fix stupid but you can vote it out in 2010 ,at least part of it and the rest in 2012.

Carbon Dioxide...Harmless
Posted earlier "And carbon dioxide isn't harmful because it occurs in nature, therefor it's harmless, right?"

1) Just because it occurs in nature neither makes it "safe" nor does it make it "dangerous" it simply makes it "naturally occuring". Yet I discern by the wording of your question you assume that anything man-made is inherently harmful?
2) Harmless...no, but then neither is water. You aren't against water are you? However as a particulate in our atmosphere it is actually beneficial and as a percentage of the breathable air it is far, far, far below what would be considered "toxic" levels.
3) In fact increasing Carbon Dioxide levels will actually increase vegetation growth (i.e. food production) helping solve world hunger...are you for world hunger?

Obama won't listen to us, he believes
himself to be better than the rest of us. He's a narcissist, he listens to no one other than himself, refuses to take the counsel of anybody.

This 100 days he'll brag about tonight are ridiculous, unless you are in favor of destroying our American institutions.

He has done more to screw up this county in 100 days than anyone else in our history, that's his "achievement".
I really think he is nuts, he's intoxicated with the power of the office, couple that with his narcissism and you have a very bad situation.

This administration is out of control and out of their league, almost everything they have done or are proposing is exactly the opposite of what should be done and we will be the losers.

Inherited?? INHERITED??

......you're an idiot. Odumbass has MADE this mess we have now, and it gets worse each time he comes up with more socialist crap.

a

I have been on a boycott of Citgo work nearly a decade. I have been known to flip the bird when I walk by because of the contempt that I have for the Chavez regime.

Don't wait until empty if you want to avoid Citgo.

Dick's credibility is waning
Although he's sleazy, I always thought Dick was the sharpest political analyst out there and never failed to watch him when he was on TV.

He had one blind spot though; Hillary. His personal dislike of her was so blatant that his forecasts appeared to be slanted toward what he WANTED to be true...not what was actually occurring.

I'm starting to see the same with Dicks' coverage of Obama now. He seems to be focusing on such niggling, trite little things...and exaggerating them out of proportion.

IMO Obama seems to be in excellent condition and I don't think he's done anything that will spell his doom...with the possible exception of his insane out-year budget which would triple the national debt in 10 yrs. If the economy recovers, the Reps are in trouble in 2010 and in BIG trouble in 2012.

Presidental Abuse...
Obama’s approval rating are doing a well as they are, only 100 days into his blitz on the American people and their tax money, because it is akin to a spouse who chooses to remain living with and married to a spouse abuser, who beats and verbally abuses them, rather than cut the ties and live on their own. Eventually the end up in the hospital, dead or get the message and leave the abusive spouse.

Where In the Constitution?
Would someone please tell me where in the Constitution does it say that the government can take over banks, corporations, doctors, the media etc. in our name?

There are parallels . . .
between the deification of barack hussein obama and the deification of adolph hitler in nazi Germany. For a few years (or months) of rising expectations, the time will come to "pay the piper".
I never thought it could happen here; the "cult of personality" is alive and well in the coronation of the "muslim" (oops, I mean "messiah").
The antichrist is among us. His followers (communists, oops, I mean democrats, acorn etc.) are leading us to destruction.
Be afraid, be VERY afraid. Be aware and be able to resist the temptation of the "chosen one".

I've Got An Idea!

Let's nominate "a" as "Lightning Tsar".

It occurs naturally and is deadly. Of course, he would have as difficult a time in controlling lightning as Stalin did by trying to control an economy beset by famine in which 20 million Russins died.

Mother Nature is a biatch; thus, it must be controlled.

Radical Fanatics
Why is it that on radical fanatics consistently use the term 'destructive?' It is because the right wing radicals are destructive to America. ...........

http://thefiresidepost.com/2009/04/27/radical-fanatics-are- a-threat-to-americas-safety/

Obamass and the path to no where.
Obamass is an egotist, egocentric, egoist, egomaniac, egocentric, and an egomaniac.

Did I leave out any "e" words? Ah yes, ...empty suit, evil and eviscerating.

He is shredding The Constitution and "leading" us into oblivion. All while being cheered on by liberal, socialist elves. Another hundred days and we'll all suffocate from the manure stuck up our noses.

The 1st Hundred Days
I think that there have been so many mis-steps and stupid mistakes in these past 100 days that it isn't going to take long for the majority of Americans to wake up. The tea parties are a start and with his 'majority' in Congress, he now owns the whole show. At some point in time the debt will have to be repaid and no matter how you shake it out the only way the government can get any money is through taxes or raising 'fees'. I think that the 'doomsday clock' has moved one minute closer in these last 100 days.

JohnR22
"IMO Obama seems to be in excellent condition and I don't think he's done anything that will spell his doom...with the possible exception of his insane out-year budget which would triple the national debt in 10 yrs. "

That is the problem, we all kow it's the economy Stupid, to paraphrase B Clinton.

Everything he and the previous administration have done will prolong the recession and make much worse the eventual crash or de-levering if you will. It has been tried repeatedly as recently as the 1990's in Japan, in the 1930's here and it never works!
We had a severe depression here in 1920 that most people have never heard of because the government did nothing and within a years we were recovered and the economy was fine.

So look for hard times for a long time as a result of the governments inteference and it will re-dound to Obama.

St. Denis a/k/a Denise
At least a in Texas is apparently willing to believe you're EARNING a paycheck. Would you bet the farm that the same thing has EVER been true about HIM? I wouldn't.

Ohg
" Radical Fanatics
Why is it that on radical fanatics consistently use the term 'destructive?' It is because the right wing radicals are destructive to America"

Pray tell what has the right wing done? I await this answer with baited breath. I know you are not accusing GWB of being right wing, heck we never let him in the club he doesn't even know the hand shake.

Uh Oh !

Bush’s approval rating taken by Gallup stood at 62 percent after his first 100 days, while Obama’s currently stands at 56 percent.

Morris's Point
In order to be successful, a party needs a message and an attractive candidate. Obama provided the mantra of change, and he is appealing.

Republicans should focus on their two traditional themes that the polls show are winners: fiscal responsibility and strong defense. Then, they must unite behind our best candidate. I think Romney is obvious, but time will tell.

Jim
Would that it were so. This majority of Americans you're counting on to "wake up" slept though:
-The candidacy of the most inexperienced neophyte ever nominated by a major party.
-The election of a man with close personal and political ties to a domestic terrorist and spent 20 years giving ear to a black liberation fringe kook.
-The election of a president whose specific policies they oppose, yet to whom they "approve of" by more than 60%

I could go on here, but the point is that the writing didn't just appear on the wall with Obama. It's been there for a long time. The American public is intellectually apathetic, lazy, self-absorbed, and astonishingly incurious. They take their cues from soundbytes and celebrities. And you're counting on "an awakening." Don't hold your breath on that one.

We'll get another McDole from the geniuses at the RNC in 2012, so you can pretty much count on a long 8 years.

Continuing with Samuel's thoughts:
Since Americans have not "awakened" to the thugocracy, why can we assume that they will after 6 months? So much damage has been done in 100 days that I don't even want to think about 6 months--when it will be too late. Handouts will have been distributed, taxpayer-funded abortions been done, socialized medicine in place, etc.

Samuel
Unfortunately , well said and full marks!

Lynne
Not to mention the unsustainable deficits, the coming entitlement collapse now reckoned in 2012. Cap and Trade which has stealthily already arrived.

A House of Cards
Obviously Pres. Obama's approval ratings is due to racial prejudice by right wing extremists. After all, it is because he is "black" that we oppose him.

Let me see if I understand. His dad was "black", his mom was "white", therefore Barack Obama is "black" .

What if both his parents were "white" and only one of his 4 grandparents was "black" and the rest were "white". Would he still be "black"? What percentage of your ancestry has to be "black" in order for you to be considered "black"?

If America is the racist country that some proclaim, then how is it that a "black" man was elected president?

What if someone whose ancestry was the same as Barack Obama's and that person ran as a Republican ? Would he still be "black".

On the other hand maybe he is being opposed for his ideas. What a novel concept!

Some see the race card being played to defend Obama. I see the joker in the deck.

Tibby

Morris & Obama
The best characterization of Obama was from a columnist on this site yesterday saying he wished Obama had at least the experience of an assistant manager at McDonald's. This is true; Obama hasn't run, owned or earned anything other than receiving stipends, grants, and government largess. (This is a common disease among the Dems. Remember, the first house the Clintons ever owned is the one they bought in NY to qualify Hillary for the Senate run.) And then there is good ol' Joe "the common man" Biden, "the poorest man in the Senate", who also has never had a successful business or invested well enought to provide for his own retirement. During the campaign, it was revealed that he had accumulated almost no savings. Why? Because he trusts the government to provide all for him. You see, while Republicans for the most part run businesses and earn incomes in their private lives before and after politics, Dems almost always subsist solely on the government dole. These two are who the "swooners for the Obamessiah" voted into office. They have no common sense, and if you wait a while both will convince you of it by their insane verbal gaffes which reveal so much about the "inner man" of them both. Benedict Arlen will not help them much. But, I do agree with Morris in this one way; Obama is now at a time in his presidency when the buck will stop at his desk and he won't be able to move it backward onto Bush's.

President Obama
He will probably continue to have a grace period for another six months or so. After that we will begin to see the effects of his policies: economic and foriegn especially. I do not see his policies being successful for the American people. If I am correct about that there can be no excuses: he has a Congress doing things his way.
As far as "right wing" what does that term mean? The way it it used it reminds of the Nazis blaming the Jews: very vague on details and seeking to blame some one else for your own failures.
Generally speaking neither Bush was a conservative: both spent too much money, increased the Federal Government into areas that it should have stayed out of and refused to enforce border security.

denise
it seems the trolls believe there will no end to the free lunch they think they are getting.

But then again when you reside in the land of oz, you actually believe there is no one behind the curtain manipulating the dials and sending out flames and smoke to terrify the confused.

Give us facts
all of you who are chorttling over winning the election and are calling names and attacking the character of those who disapprove of the direction Obama is taking the country (European style government controlled social democracy). Let's have a good discussion over why you think the programs Obama has put into place will be successful. We have a lot of disagreements in how Obama is trying to pull us out of the situation; lets discuss those differances and not label and call names.

I just heard an announcement about how another large company (Detroit Axle) is going to leave Michigan after a bitter strike last year and the concessions weren't enough. It was also said that the Govenor privately has told people that there will be more unemployment(hundreds of thousands she said) and it will be at the very least, another bad year. What happens when the stimulous money is not even coming into the state? What has Obama really done to help the car company problem? Many think, in the end, the companies will still fail. Nice mood in Michigan. There's no "hope" here. Where's the "magic".

The defection of Spector will give
the Sen. a filibuster-proof majortiy. Reid will sit Franken, even tho' it's another stolen vote in MN.

I hope the cons. who stayed home is this last election will get off their *principled* butts and work and vote in 2010.

Regarding your 10:12 am post: except for the dildoshop performing abortions, I'd actually believe all the rest of it. Such a resume sounds totally believable for someone like yourself.

By the way, Summers asked you this the other day: did you recently re-locate from Florida to Texas? Because you sound exactly like another poster from Florida who used to post here who also called himself a.

I can't figure out what they're thinking - it doesn't make sense. How can you call yourself a republican and support that stimulus. I don't regard Bush as a rep after he put that tarp on us.

Perception vs. Reality
Anyone seen the latest economic figures for the first quarter of 2009?

Great isn't it? A contraction or 6.1%.

The AP says it's because of housing, etc.

It's really about the role of our central bank. They created this mess, and they are perpetuating it with bad policy.

F. A. Hayek, won a Nobel prize by concluding that a central bank was the biggest enabler of failed economies in nations. He gave a speech called "The Pretense of Knowledge", in which he upbraided his fellow economists as enablers and trustees of failed economic policies.

He also discussed at length the myth of a correlation between unemployment rates and the lack of aggregate demand for goods and services.

Read it. And then go, and sin no more.

it seems the only plausible explanation is that too many are too confused over an economic downturn that they have never experienced and are looking for any glimmer of hope for recovery.

When you have lost your homes equity value, your retirement is worth a fraqction of what it was a year ago and you are worried about whether you will have a job in the coming weeks or months it is easy to look at someone promising to save the country.

The problem however is that massive deficit spending and the coming higher taxes and hyper inflation is something the messiah either can't understand or refuses to address just in case someone actually notices the emporer really has no clothes or more to the point no clue

I am one of the few believers, funny though isn't it that the keynsians keep trying their failed ideas and they keep not working!

Has anyone noticed...
that while the media and the colonists write and report on the daily stupid things this administration has done,bills that effect our daily lives are being pushed through quietly? The hate crimes bill for example. This bill will open the door for all kinds of laws to stop free speech and the freedom to keep political correctness out of our lives. PO is eating away at our very core values not preserving them. There have others but this is the one in the works,as well as the FCC dope who wants to regulate the internet. China does that ,don't they. Convinced yet?

Why attack our President?
This article is talking about Obama’s first 100 days in office and how the article states how he is trying to do too much and how he gets such positive votes from the people. The article talks as if it was a more conservative group. In such incidences it should be but the problem is that the future is growing and conserving the future isn’t always the best role to take. So the author of this article might some how seem to worry about conserving the well being of the country, but in a sense the country should take some risks. The author of this article is attacking the president and telling how he is not helping our economy, by showing proof of votes taken by the people. Obama is trying to help the economy grow and the author also states that why hasn’t he cut the car companies he runs. Well if he does that many jobs will be lost and that could hurt our economy more then to help it grow. The author is being unjust in these arguments. Obama is trying to help our country not hurt it, and the author thinks that it is just best to keep things how they were. It is impossible to keep things at a slow pace in our future we need to be growing faster and faster, so when we have problems in our economy we can fix them and move on to bigger and better things. This article hits the heart because Obama is trying to help our country grow and from that people should not attack his ideas and his popularity and instead they should understand he got voted into office, so what he decides is best for the country we should take a step back and look and understand that he sees good in what he is deciding. We should agree with him not entirely but understand he is trying to better our economy, so attacks on the president’s credentials should be kept to a minimum and we should look at what he is trying to do to better our country.

The Unknown Qiuestion
It seems to me the unanswered question is do Americans want to be taken care of, or do they want to be able to take care of themselves? If they want to be taken care of, then it seems to me, regardless of what they may tell the polsters, they do like what Obama is doing. Those who do not want government to take care of them, would not like what Obama is doing.

Tea party time again
July 4th, INDEPENDENCE DAY! Join us.

It's not just about taxes. I don't mind paying the level of taxes I pay right now, but I'll be damn9d if I want to pay it to support a failed government, and that's exactly what Obummer is pushing - failure.

With all the borrowing by both parties, I would rather to have been sold into slavery myself than to sell future generations into slavery and abject poverty. Do the math, with
a public debt of over $11 TRILLION
and increasing by over a TRILLION (Obummer's
own estimates) and with just over 303 million
of us, how much back taxes do you owe? Look
at it this way - all across America, babies
will be made every day, at the moment the
sperm cell breaks into that egg (providing
the mother, George Tiller & Sebelius don't
kill it) that fertilized egg is over $37,000
in debt.

Who
is our most appealing candidate? Ronald Reagan was elected because of his personal appeal, and THEN he persuaded the populace to want smaller government---not the other way around.

I believe that American voters are not ideological: That's what Morris is pointing out. They like Obama, not his big government- Big Brother agenda. We need to select a leader who is personally appealing, because voters are primed to accept our message of fiscal responsibility and a strong defense. It will all hinge on who we choose to carry the message.

I'm asking you all: Whom do you favor?

Jim
Your charges against our medical system barely scratch the surface of past and ongoing medical atrocities. The Holacaust pales in comparison.
The cancer industry is but one more example. Enlightened people are curing cancer themselves in no time flat using time honored natural treatments. I know because I did that myself in less than 2 months with a cost of less than $200.
However, even IF the impending collapse of our corrupt medical system does indeed clear the way for honest change, this change will probably be highly lamented by the unenlightened masses clamoring for conventional treatment.
Ironically those masses will probably spew disdain upon Obama for this change.

We the "sheeple"
It is obvious that too many people do what they are told ... by the media. Raise you hand if you tried to insert yourself in the poll numbers in this article.

Get a clue America, "your" life is not a function of media polls and political activists. Think for yourselves once again or forever consign yourselves to have the government via the media do it for you.

As for the liberal agitating twerps who buzz on these threads with their high-pitched smarmy din, SWAT!

Brilliant!
Dick is a brilliant man and much of what he says comes true pretty much on schedule. Obama is a disaster and is proactively making one dunderhead move after another. His appeal is to high strung whiners who can't solve any of their own problems and who feel it is their right to demand others take care of them. However things move in cycles and as Dick pointed out more and more people who voted for him will begin to wonder what they got themselves into. Staunch Obama loyalists will eventually lose their power as they are like a decayed tooth eating away from the inside. They have nothing real to prop themselves up with and will eventually crumble away.

The Seeds...
I hope the seeds Arlen Specter planted grow like weeds, and he takes the rest of his Liberal "Cross the Aisle Folks" with him to his old garden. I must agree with your analysis, but if the alternative, Republicans, don't realize that the American People are sick and tired of being sick and tired of them lying to them, then your doom and gloom senario want matter. They will simply nominate a John McCain and the Obama beat will go on.

i still believe...

that was not a mistake to force mccain on us in the mainstream media... libs knew he could not win.

Obamaland!!!
Not until fuel Is $5-10 per gallon and long fuel lines, hyper-inflation, unbarable taxes on everything to try to pay for all the nonsence this administration is slamming down everyones throats will "The People" realize just how stupid they really are for voting for "Change We Can Believe In". The only real change will be that we will be a third world country and our money will be worthless paper. In the end all this "CHANGE" will be irreversable. Don't wish too hard for something as you just might get it.

Who Will File Boumediene II?

Liberals, please tell me the how the Boumediene decision that gave habeas corpus rights to prisoners at Gitmo last Fall, but Obama is arguing against having Boumediene apply to the detainees at the Bagram AFB?

And, also please explain how Eric Holder just announced in Prague that 30 detainees will be released from Gitmo, but will not state whether or not they will be transferred into another detention center.

When do habeas corpus rights attach to an enemy-combatant fighting with a gun, but not under a flag or behind a uniform?

How is it that Boumediene creates one class for Gitmo detainees, another for Bagram, and a third for "somewhere else you go"?

I welcome your tortured legal analysis.

Edward in CA and Dick Morris
Edward you are quite right that Dick is so often right on target, because hs seems to know his stuff. And I have to agree with the premise that you both make. But, I have lost my faith in the American electorate. Anyone with more than one brain cell could see what Obama was all about during the campaign, yet you elected him anyway.

Almost every move he makes, since taking office, I wonder where he got that bone head idea from. He makes one rookie mistake after another. Yet his approval rating is still relatively high. I think it is mostly idle worship, as the man is an embarrassment. Even some European leaders have stated he is on the wrong path, and he is trying to follow the European model of socialism.

I really don't know if the American electorate will come to their senses and boot these liberals out, I have my doubts. I sure hope they can, and do. This has been a great place to live since I came here in 1964 as a teenager. But I am fearful that you folks have gone off the edge.

Bravo
Keep singing Dick! Those Americans that voted for change will eventually realize that not all change is great! Especially when they dont see the light at the end of the tunnel!

"I am one of the few believers, funny though isn't it that the keynsians keep trying their failed ideas and they keep not working!"

Agreed. I think it is hubris mostly. Have you ever heard a professor, or economist say "I was wrong?". It would be a career-ender. Then again, that might not be such a bad idea.

I ask you, take this statement from Hayek..."The past instability in the market economy is the consequence of the exclusion of the most important regulator of the market mechanism, money, from itself being regulated by the market process."

What is so ambiguous about this? You and I understand it, so why aren't others asking these questions?

And then, there's capital. One look at our artificially lowered interest rates, and yet there remains the questions of capital?

Does anyone actually wonder why the banks have not taken up the Fed's call for flooding the market with money for capital expenditures?

The mind swoons...

Jacob
In the past 100 days GM has layed off more than 20k workers and is getting ready to force 2000 dealers to close their doors. Is this the preserving of jobs your referring too? Have you been living under a rock for the past 100 days? Take the rose colored glasses off my fellow American!

"Stalin did by trying to control an economy beset by famine in which 20 million Russins died."

Unlike the Chinese famine of 1958-1961 which was caused by a mix of natural diasters (which why it is called formally "san nian zi ran zai hai" or the Three Years of Natural Diasters)and economic mismanagement, the Soviet famine was totally intentional--Stalin used food as a weapon to crush any Ukrainian resistance to his policies and the result deaths as high as perhaps 5 or 6 million...much lower than the Chinese famine though.

One Thing Left Out here...
That one thing (economic policy-wise) is JOB CREATION. NOTHING has been done to encourage that, and I (still out of work after 22 mos! despite serious effort) think it's CRUCIAL.

Dick, good analogy (i.e., like a new bride)... I've been highly attentive every time you appeared on Fox News shows and am grateful for your commentary since you broke ranks with the Clintons. You have valuable insight becuz you were an insider; you remind me of David Horowitz.

Best regards. Keep up the good work!

Chuck
I was a Romney fan too, but HUCKABEE deserves the blame for handing the Repub nomination to McCain. Huckabee pretends to be the real thing (conservative/Christian), but he's just an egomaniac poser with dimples. He colluded with McCain (and we'll never know what promises were made; we do know Huckabee loathed Romney). He's a wolf in sheep's clothing that undiscerning evangelicals (fools) still trust.

How Can He Rule Without Being Vetted?
Everyone else in the Obama cabinet was vetted and some Obama nominations dropped out because the vetting took so long (and they're just cabinet position), yet the President of The United States of America wasn't vetted by the DNC. In fact,the U.S. Justices swore in a man who wasn't vetted and the feds handed over national security secrets to someone who wasn't vetted and now wants to prosecute them for protecting us after 911 even though millions of Americans want to know if he's a natural born U.S. citizens required by law. Actually, this would be somewhat funny, if it weren't so serious. The U.S. Justices and judges denied lawsuits filed to produce proof of identification and birth according to Article II of the U.S. Constitution, but they didn't care about that, either. No one really knows who the man in the White House really is as he has several names and some say he's born in Hawaii and his grandma said she was there when he was born in Kenya. Hmmmm. Oh, well, at least we know he was born somewhere and I guess that's all that matters in Washington D.C.
The first thing the White House should have done was take the printing press and the ink away from this far left cabinet that loves to print trillions of dollars that can never be paid back. Today, the far left is attemting to fast track socialized healthcare - now, that will be great when the government has access to your health records and decides who shall live and who shall die! Call your senators today and oppose fast tracking socialized healthcare.

Jim, About Medicare
25 plus years ago, Medicare was being subsidized by hospitals adding on a few extras to everyone else's bill. I remember my husband going in for a back operation. His bill was something like 25 pages long and 22 of those pages were individual dozes of pain killer. He was in for 5 days. Obviously someone was "padding" the bill to the tune of around $800. I called the hospital (Fairfax Hospital in Virginia). They referred me to the governing body who took care of fraud. The governing body worked for the hospital. I called my insurance company (Kaiser Permanente). They weren't interested. Medicare has NEVER paid for itself. Ever. Like Social Security, it was never actuarily sound. Not from day one. We are so unfortunate as to have lived long enough to arrive at the Social Security and Medicare doomsday...a day preordained in the 1930's and the 1960's. Social Security turned into the financial disaster predicted by it's opponents over 70 years ago, and Medicare is ruining the entire medical system in this county just as predicted by it's oponents in the 1960's. The Republican nay-sayers of long ago forsaw it, and perhaps that's something you Dems ought to take into account when Republicans are again warning that there will be a huge price to pay.

I pray you are right...
unfortunately, the things that will really show Obama's hand and cause the worst consequences for Americans, i.e. raising taxes, regimenting health care, amnesty for illegal immigrants, cap & trade, will not come until his second term.

If he can charm his way through the first four years by handing out goodies, most people will think everything is fine and vote to give him another four years.

I think only another terrorist attack in the U.S. will stop this man.

Sky Peat
... is just another Oscama suckup who doesn't dare expose his honest disappointment with his choice of slave masters!

WHAT DID YOUR PRESIDENT DO FOR YOU
during the past 100 days?
1. Spent your tax dollars to promote global abortions.
2. Hired a tax cheater to care for your tax dollars.
3. Promised to close GITMO and bring 250 terrorist to your backyard.
4. Guranteed increased taxes for your children and their children for the next 20 years.
5. Guranteed that the money in your account or pocket won't be worth as much when hyperinflation kicks in.
6. You now own an interest in GM and AIG whether you like it or not.
7. Made your job more secure with the Stimulus Package. Do 8 million Americans without work believe this now?
8. Released confidential CIA memos publicly so
all terrorist will know how they won't be treated when they are captured after killing you or your family.
9. Looking at ways to prosecute your former administration's legal advisors, to really make you mad, but it will appease your enemies.
10. Included you as part of the select right wing radical extremist. Cautioned you to watch out for all returning American military.
11. Apologized to all of the world for your behavior.

THE NEXT QUESTION: WHAT WILL OBAMA DO FOR YOU IN THE NEXT 100 DAYS?

Dick Morris:
"The Seeds of His Own Destruction"

You wish.

Trust me, if you can survive your tawdry past,
Obama will not only survive but thrive.

Are the people insane?

Dick Morris writes: "While polls show big doubts about what he is doing, the overwhelming sense is to let him have his way and pray that it works."

That's *insane*... it's not right rational thinking.

If anyone has "big doubts" that are "well founded" (as they surely are), it is insane to "let him have his way and pray that it works".

Your house is on fire, and you and your family are IN the house. You have "well founded" reason to think throwing gasoline on the fire will make it worse.

Obama shows up, with a gasoline tanker, and begins spraying gasoline all over the fire that is burning down your house with your family inside.

Now, are you going to just sit there and "pray that it works"?!?

ARE YOU INSANE? Have you gone looney?

Or do you just have a death-wish?

hey STUPID
There you are again TD ,are you getting minimum wage or carbon credits for your intellectual(sarcasm)diarrhea from the Great O???

The Seeds of OUR Destruction
Dogmatics and neo-comms can drown in their own drool and the press can continue to roll over like a whipped puppy. There is very little we can do. Politically BHO is doing fine ... and the left is just stupid enough to buy it well into the next 2 - 5 years.

But ... what passes for "economics" in this administration couldn't be palmed off on a retarded chimp. And (as we should have learned from the Freddie/Fanny crisis if not the failure of communism and socialism the world over) when liberal good intentions crash into economic reality life gets really really ugly.

Truly unprecedented inflation & debt burden are now being cheerfully created to appease the 40+% of the electorate who don't pay taxe. This is going to run head first into trillions of entitlement obligations, the cost of the war on terror. (Funny how that hasn't stopped isn't it?)

All the uber cravenness of the soon to retire masses from the "me first and only" generation can't stop it.

In the end you can't have what you can't pay for. But make no mistake: this could easily go on for 50+ years or so. Things will get progressively more miserable. We will become a shadow of ourselves. But there will be Change! (Just ask the Soviets.)

Yes we can!

The time for annulment is NOW, not later

Dick Morris writes: "So if voters differ so fundamentally with the president on the very essence of his program, why do they accord him high ratings?"

Apparently roughly 54% of the voting public, i.e., "Obama voters", are a toxic mix of America-hating Leftists and the modern equivalent of ye olden village idiots.

The difference between 54% and the current 62% approval (and 68% "satisfaction" with Obama's first 100 days) is the pro-Obama leftist bias built in to practically ALL polling data, whether because of the way the questions are asked, or because of the non-representative population being interviewed, or both.

~~~
Dick Morris writes: "They are like the recently married bride who took her vows 100 days ago. It would be a disaster for her if she decides that she really doesn't like her husband."
It will be a much BIGGER disaster if she doesn’t get out NOW. The time for an “annulment” is BEFORE the consummation takes place.
NOT AFTER…
We republicans are not in danger here, we are all in danger due to the complete ignorance of the democratic party. Children now are in control of our nation, I think we need to lower the driving age to 10 yeras old, and the drinking age to 5 years old. Why should kids have to wait so long to enjoy the benefits we all enjoy?????
Ouck Fbama
Liberals-Give'm enough rope
I hate to say it but the only way conservatives are going to come back is to let the liberals hang themselves. Just step back and let them vote in everything they want. Let them reintroduce everything that has failed in the past-their social policy, foreign policy,economic policy. Let welfare as we knew it come back, let soft on crime come back, keep encouraging single parethood, etc. All the things they are proposing have failed miserably in the past.People really do have short memories. Let the Libs have the agenda.Just sit back and watch the disaster that will happen. After all, they won, right! See what happens in a few years and I guarantee the people who gave us this mess will be out of office. The only thing that should be fought with gusto is Supreme Court nominees, as this has long term implications. Republicans should do as to the Dems what was done to them. No liberals accepted, only moderates.
What if????
What really scares me about Obama, is that he will maintain his Presidency for at least four years. He can do a lot of damage to our Country in that amount of time.
First of all, he has nearly sowed up the Senate.
Legislation, will be easy for him and his outlandish ultra liberal ideas.
The 2010 elections will probably break even, with both sides getting equal number of Candidates. That will be a big problem for the GOP. By 2012, Obama, will have a big enough control, that voting will not matter that much, because I believe, he will have control of the voting booths.
God save us all!
First Hundred Days
One of your correspondents says that Mr Obama is trying to help America not hurt it, and I am sure that is true but unfortunately he will hurt it.
As I listened to his rhetoric during the campaign I was filled with mis giving for the future of this country. You see he was espousing policies which the Labour Party in the UK have been pursuing for the last twelve years and they have been a singular failure in all areas.
Benefit dependency - up.
Illegal immigration - up.
Crime - up.
Taxes - up.
Government borrowing - up.
Government debt - up.
Educational attainment - down.
Health service outcomes - down.
Government sleaze - up. And it just goes on and on.
To take Health as just one topic you do NOT want socialised health care here. I have just got back from visiting a loved one in The Cleveland Clinic, care excellent, decisions made between patient and Doctor. In the UK they have a Government committee called NICE, it stands for National Institute for Clinical Excellence, they decide if a treatment is to be made available. The result is that drugs or treatments deemed too expensive are not prescribed no matter how effective they may be.
People are dying or suffering poor quality of life as a result of this cost as opposed to efficacy approach to treatment. Be assured that were we introducing the National Health Service now instead of 1948 it would not be happening.
The other point is that when Labour came to power they inherited a growing and healthy economy. The policies, which are the policies Obama is espousing, along with Pelosi and Reid, have driven us to bankruptcy as a nation. You are starting with a weak faltering economy and I just don't want to speculate where you will end up as a result.
These are observations based on painful experience not bias or ignorance, we have lived it and unless you vote to get the Democrats out in the 2010 midterms you have real trouble friends.
Will
The problem with letting liberals hang themselves is that they hang not themselves but US. Look at what FDR and his socialist cronies have done to this country. After 75 years or so, we haven't been able to repeal the substance of his massive public dole, while the numbers of hapless government dependents have become legion.
Trillions in silly and useless debt, universal healthcare, universal college tuition, etc. Once it's here... it's here to stay. And the Republicans have no opportunity here. Even if they put out manifestly more sensible ideas, that could easily provoke even further public rage. I know my first inclination would be to ask "Hey! Where the f--k were those great ideas when you had congress and the whitehouse for six years? -- What? So now that you've been thoroughly repudiated in two elections, NOW you want to govern effectively?" I think that'll be the reaction of many voters.
OBAMA'S LEGACY
It's being established: CRUSHING DEBT FOR OUR YOUNG PEOPLE. His policies will continue the exodus of manufacturing and his illusions of green energy are ill fated.
QUESTION TO ALL CONSERVATIVES
Do we have to resort to the vile comptemible methods that the Liberals and Democrats have used in the past year to keep this country safe and protect our liberties.
Lying, cheating, stealing, misrepresentation, pay to play, overseas donations, secret meetings, a dishonest bias media and criminal congressmen/women have worked for the Liberals and Democrats.
Will keeping our values intact and playing nice at a few tea parties change anything?
Scott:
Interesting post. However, I am here to tell
you that Obama is the guy with the firetruck
not the guy with the match.
File the annulment now
as Scott suggested. And Kathryn had a great line- "the sheep have elected the wolf as chief protector." That would be the 50% of the voters who are absolutely ignorant of how this country was built and what BO is doing to destroy it. But you don't have to accept this, you can start the annulment.
BO is NOT ELIGIBLE to be POTUS- it isn't kook theory, it's truth. The Constitution requires him to be a "natural born citizen" which means TWO US CITIZEN parents. Check the definition at federalistblog.us or google, John Jay, Sen Lyman Trumbull, Sen John Bingham- all founders who wrote about this and made clear what was meant by the term - no allegiance to any other than the US at birth.
BO's websites admit he was born a British subject through his Kenyan father and then adopted Indonesian by his step father. He can NEVER qualify as "natural born" from birth. And his actions in 100 days make it clear his allegiance is not solely to the US.
There's a great legal summary at http://paralegalnm.wordpress.com/2009/02/27/barack-hussein -obama-a-natural-born-subject-of-great-britain/
Tom notes Independence Day July 4 and more TEA parties. It's an excellent time for you to hand out flyers, make signs, tell friends and neighbors the truth about BO and get started on the annulment now. It can't wait two or four years.
Could you possibly be blaming Bush for this enormous spending bill?? Libs are interesting, they will probably blame their arthritis on Bush in 20 years. The economy started to take a crap last year, yes, Bush's last year. Happy for my agreement on that? Will you blame him for faulty legislation requiring loaning institutions to not discriminate against would be mortgage applicants for not being able to afford homes they wanted to buy also? In know libs are historically challenged, but Pelosi and Reid have been in charge of spending for over 2 years now. I will concede Bush's poor judgement in signing THEIR overspending legislation.
Wait until we get "free" Healthcare
These con men and women are making people think that they'll be getting Mayo-Clinic level health care for fee.
Wait until the medical bureaucrats deny premies their incubators and send grandma to hospice.
We can't deny trial lawyers their malpractice rewards but we can send old people away to die!
If ObamaCare is so great why do they plan it in secret. If he could REALLY give me Mayo-Clinic healthcare for me, he should tell me how and it would convert me into a democrat.
Funny
but Dick is echoing something I read in scripture, Psalm 37.
We are where we are because we turned away from God and His Blessing's. I see so many posters ending their posts with God Help Us..and they are correct. Only God can help us and heal our land.
Every move O's made has been to mock God
including accepting the idolization of himself rather than telling the idolators to stop, that only God is to be worshipped. He's to be pitied rather than hated, I pray his agenda will fail.
Not just poll ratings that will drop
More and more Americans will want to throw Obama under the bus, just like he did during the campaign. "Not the Obama We Knew; Not the Government We Chose" gives you a clue of what's coming...more at http://www.brushfires-of-freedom.com/not.html
So, Samuel
Is what you are saying:
"I know my first inclination would be to ask "Hey! Where the f--k were those great ideas when you had congress and the whitehouse for six years? -- What? So now that you've been thoroughly repudiated in two elections, NOW you want to govern effectively?" I think that'll be the reaction of many voters."
mean that you are willing to leave this disaster of an administration continue it's destruction of America? Or, are you one of the many that heretofore have sat on your ample @$$e$ and allowed the Repubs to go the way they have? Me, I've been a conservative for years, and I have voted against Repubs too, that do not live up to what their party was claiming to stand for. The only way we are going to get out of this mess is, for those of you that have not been doing your civic duty and voting, to get off your dead, complaining @$$e$ and get to the polls next time around. Begin complaining to your local Repub party as well ... tell them they'd better start paying attention and return to their roots and find candidates with which we can once again win and perhaps, just perhaps we can undo all the damage of this current nutball bunch. And that goes double for the political pimps we install for life and that we "lovingly" call "congress" as well.
Other than that, you are just as guilty for this mess as the lunatic leftwing lugnuts that you let intimidate, silence and run over you and elect this morphadite, elitist, arrogant twit to the White House!
Obama said he is not expanding gov. So..
Most people hear sound bites because they're to busy earning money to live on. They hear Obama say he is not expanding government so and they don't know he is dishonest yet. It really comes down to a basic subjective belief rather than the actual facts. To get the facts and understand mathematics is to be against Obamanomics. So it might be best to argue against Obamanomics in a simple way: Obama's budget means you will pay into Social Security but you will not receive any money because Obama spent it. Those interest rates are going to soar when China stops lending (Jimmy Carter 2.0). SS is already in trouble and the boomers just started retiring.
Pay back soon I hope
Apparently some of you do not understand human nature. The population is still in the thrall of the "historical president" he is charming and has a lovely family and knows how to give a great speech, but and this is a big but, he like some of you is guilty of hubris and arrogance and because he believes his press clippings and he is a real idealogue he is moving this country very hard to the left. The problem with that is that the country still polls very much a center right country and coupled with his and his followers arrogance they are overreaching and the public is watching and they are aware and it sets up a scenario similar to the one Carter brought about in the late 70's which gave us 8 years of Reagan. So my advice to you is to remain arrogant and cocksure, it has always served the opposition well.
Greg
Same here at left looney social work central. Several of my coworkers are very concerned about the rising deficit and the fact that the economy hasn't shown many signs of recovery. They voted for Obama, but now they've got doubts. The moderates have already repented of their vote, but now even a few of the liberals are starting to say "maybe, this wasn't such a good idea having an all Dem government." They're not out and out saying Obama is the problem (the moderates are), but my liberal friends (well, the sane ones, and there are plenty of not so sane ones, unfortunately) are starting to wonder. His sneaky hidden tax (giving us money in our paychecks that actually comes out of a standard tax credit on next year's return) really woke many of them up!
My grandfather loved Roosevelt
Until the gov't came and killed all but one of his cows to boost the milk prices in Wisconsin. My mother lived in North Dakota (go figure?). The family couldn't buy coal that winter to heat the farm house, so they burned cow chips and straw. They ate gov't-issue oatmeal and raisins for two meals a day and canned cow and potatoes the other. My mom and her younger sister got rickets. Grandpa had nothing good to say about Roosevelt for the rest of his terms of office and my mother philosophically hated Dems after that (though she would vote for specific ones in local and state elections -- people she or my dad (a dyed-in-the-wool union Dem who wouldn't recognize his party now) knew.
It's a myth that everybody thought Roosevelt was a great president. It depended on whether his policies helped you or hurt you. My mother's siblings were all Republicans not because they shared a great many Republican ideals, but because they hated Roosevelt for nearly starving them to death and they wanted nothing to do with anyone who claimed affiliation with him.
Carter gave us such hope
in the midst of dark economic times. That is -- until his policies just didn't seem to work and the misery index grew worse and worse and then -- well, at the time, everybody was saying the Republican Party was dead and that conservativism had died in the 1950s. Neither obituary turned out to be true.
Now, I don't know about the Republican Party. Being a registered non-partisan, I don't have to boost the RNC. However, so far, the candidates I like the best on the national level are Republicans. Dems just keep moving to the left and my gut instinct says that has never worked out well in history and isn't likely to work out well now.
You know, the definition of insanity, per Einstein? Insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results. Currently, the only difference I see between Carter and Obama is that Obama is spending WAY more money. If the Republicans try to run a McCain like person again, then they're as insane as the Dems, but if they come up with a true conservative -- I'm onboard. Otherwise, I plan to vote Constitution Party, even if that means another Dem win. Although, I think we may see third parties growing an influence if the two major parties can't figure out that the American people are by and large conservatives who want smaller gov't that spends LESS not more.
Obama's approval #s are good, but
His disapproval numbers are some of the highest for any president at this point in their presidency. Higher than Carter's, higher than either of the Bushes. What does that mean? Well, maybe nothing, but let's not forget that Mr. Obama only won the election by 6% of the electorate. That's really not that much.
He's a great speaker and, as the country's first minority president, many people feel that they can't disapprove of him, but they disapprove of his policies in overwhelming numbers, so ....
If his resemblance to Carter continues, the economy won't budge and people will start to wake up and smell the coffee. It might take a while. What will happen first will be that the House will swing Republican in 2010 (when our tax refunds turn to tax bills, people will care all of a sudden). Then, if the Republican House gets busy being good conservatives, and Republicans mount a truly conservative POTUS candidate, we'll see the virtual drowning of the Dems in 2012.
I do not think, though, that the Republicans can afford to just sit back and allow the Dems to self-destruct. They need to provide an alternative or else a third-party must emerge to take over the conservative cause.
Morris
Try to remember, folks, that the ONLY reason Clinton had a second term was that he followed Dick Morris' advice to move to the center away from the liberalism he started out espousing. He put duct tape over Hillary's mouth and ignored the left side of his party. Mr. Obama has already shown no sign of ruling from the center so he's losing all conservatives and quite a few moderates. How much of that 6% to you think remains? 1-3% perhaps, on a good day and only because he's only been in office 100 days. Give it 100 weeks and those moderates will be frustrated beyond anything and ready to vote for Micky Mouse if he's the only alternative to this president. Obama doesn't have an option to move to the center, but most of the country is somewhat right of center, so the chance of a second term is small. In fact, he may not have a Dem Congress come 2010, which means he'll be hopeless quagmired in a mess of his own making and I don't think Dick Morris is going to counsel him on how to pull himself out of that.
Here's a FUNNY perspective...
Visit here...http://theblacksphere.blogspot.com/2009/04/govt-bigger-and-blacker.html This guy GETS it!
barry is sowing tares
so when the weeds grow, dont act like your shocked.
AND HE MOCKS THE TEA PARTIES
He mocks out of fear because he sees the writing on the wall...the tide is turning against him. He has a grand opinion of himself which is evident when he looks down on small town America, those clinging people. He's a big city guy, cool, and so very above us everyday peasants. I can't wait to see how all this goes down.
So, what's with the crack about North Dakota? I'm from there and it's pretty well known that it is one of the plains breadbasket states that feeds the rest of you goons out there. I'm sick and tired of people who are not from ND, dissing ND, because they're ignorant of the state's conservative roots and the goodness of its land. So, try to make your brain work onceinawhile. You'd be surprised how enlightened you could be.
Now, back to the subject ... as far as I am concerned we have a real bonehead in the White House now. He's not even the first black president! He's half white, but I guess that doesn't count. Hmmm, I wonder what will be the title bestowed on a REAL black if and when one is elected to the office. Will he/she be the "first black president?"
Take if from me, what I see here, is that a so-called "black" man is leading us right back into slavery!!! How ironic is that?
BTW, we watched the Northern Lights often in our North Dakota hovel.
To OR
I would never make a crack about North Dakota. My people immigrated to Hallock, MN in the l800s. My father loved North Dakota. I'd live up there myself if I could stand the cold weather, but I don't think I could. I would love to though. North Dakota is about as far away as you can get from the misfits who are ruining this country from within.
"Could you possibly be blaming Bush for this enormous spending bill?? "
****
Nope. I am blaming Bush and Reaganomics for our
economic mess.
Karen
You are right. I'm just so sick and tired of ignorance about the state. If Mr./Ms. AK thinks ND is bad, what's he/she doing in Alaska? Talk about cold! At least ND has 9 months of spring/summer/fall and only 3 months of "bad" weather. One thing for sure, all of the insects die in the winter. Hmmm, maybe THAT'S where we should send our political pimps. Only the hardy would survive! Ha hahahahaha! That should take care of an awful lot of those "feeling" prissy Dims.
To OR in ID
That's so true! Another thing great about ND is the gold chain swinging street thugs who are ruining this country can't stand cold weather. So a person looking for peace and quiet would do well to move to ND. A wonderful way to escape the barbarians.
Karen in LA
Absolutely! I returned for a high school reunion in '07, and it felt good to be "home" after being away for so long. No matter where I've lived, ND has always been "home". It's clean, fresh and friendly - although it has changed a little bit. Had a great time re-connecting with old friends and high school buddies.
I'm probably signing off this thread, but hope to catch up with you down the line. May check back once more though. Are you in L.A. or Louisiana?
Best to you.
