Will Congress pass Obamacare by the end of the year?

Those who claim that President Barack Obama's speech on health care this week wasn't a glorious success are fooling themselves. A Washington takeover of health care never sounded so enticing or fun.

Just ignore the specifics, because when the president says he welcomes substantive new ideas, he means that if you have the nerve to offer any ideas -- as Whole Foods' CEO, John Mackey, did in The Wall Street Journal last month -- his allies will attempt to destroy your business and reputation.

And when the president says he welcomes bipartisanship, what he means is that he hasn't met with a single Republican on the issue since April -- despite numerous requests and two separate House bills chock-full of ideas.

When this president says he is a deal-making centrist and will stand up to his own party, he means he will rebuff progressives on a complete straw man, such as a "single-payer" plan (a plan he supported at one time), which has been a non-starter in any iteration of health care reform this year. I only wish there were a stronger word for "courage."

When the president says everyone must chip in and sacrifice, he means more than 95 percent of small businesses won't have to chip in and sacrifice. That's good. But consider his plan a small-business generator, because larger businesses are sure to be small in no time (and many small businesses have a new incentive to stay that way).

President Obama says government will mandate that every American purchase insurance (despite his campaign promise not to do so) rather than allow us to indulge in "irresponsible behavior" -- or, in other words, "choice."

Insurance companies, on the other hand, will be mandated to provide coverage, with no extra charge, to everyone, no matter how irresponsibly they behave. Also, feel free to ask for checkups and "preventive" care, such as mammograms and colonoscopies, on demand, no matter how needless your visit may be, no questions asked, no extra cost.

That should bend the cost curve in the right direction.

When the president says there is no possibility that a government-run public option could crowd out private markets, as such options have in nearly every other arena they operate in, he, as the tactful Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina might say, is trading in hogwash. Continued...

About The Author
It's only your choices and rights
What's the fuss? All President Obama wants you to do is give up your rights and freedom of choices for the uninsured. What's wrong with that? This country has had enough rights and freedom of choices long enough. Didn't President Obama go around the world apologizing for the type of people we are with too many rights as a free society. President Obama has been too soft as a far left liberal President. It's time for him to put his foot down and do what the far left wants him to. Take total control over our lives and pretend it's for the uninsured and competition. If President Obama had of gotten his fast track passage like he did on the stimulus, there wouldn't be any bickering. Now that he has to explain the details he's not happy because the details are none our our business. Just do what we're told, shut our mouths, pay our taxes, live our lives the way he wants us to, eat what we're told to eat, and pledge our service to him is all President Obama wants to hear. Nothing more. He doesn't want to hear about government take over, the seniors, our rights, our choices, the Constitution, job losses, squandering the stimulus money, the debt, and how he's going to pay for his government health care bill. All President Obama wants to hear is can you imagine where we would be if we had done nothing. Words, that only comes out of his mouth, because he is the only one that tells the truth.

all right-minded conservatives is the letter that Thomas Jefferson wrote to James Madison in which he talks about debt. Use St. Denis' blog link to see it.

Jefferson's logic demonstrates that entitlement programs are immoral. In essence government tells current taxpayer to pony up so it has money to give to citizens who are "entitled*. Then to those taxpayers who pony up the government promises that they will make taxpayers in the future pony up for them when they are entitled. Jefferon's letter makes clear that promising to take money from a future taxpayer is immoral -- folks, in essence government is spending money that a future taxpayer has yet to earn. The right to their property is usurped by the government, in some cases before they are even born. That is immoral.

Entitlement programs should be banned because government is encumbering the wealth of future generations. If that's not enough entitlement programs are also Ponzi Schemes which are illegal for everyone, but Congress, to run.

Entitlement programs are the budget busters; entitlement programs are immoral; entitlement programs are Ponzi Schemes, illegal except when run by Congress. Many of our budget ills will be solved by dismantling this extra-Constitutional, immoral, ill advised, actuarially unsound, and generally illegal social wealth-transfer scheme.

Would anyone think I'm violently opposed to entitlement programs?
