Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

Florida Sen. Bill Nelson (D) told me very much the same thing, but said that if the states could not stop it, then he would consider a constitutional amendment. Well, we have just seen the largest state defy the overwhelming majority of public opinion and legalize gay “marriage”—and others will follow.

If these men and women are really against gay “marriage,” as they say, this is the time to put up—to take the only course of action possible to stop it, which is a constitutional amendment. There are no other options.

I guess I am not surprised by what happened in California. I have seen judges out of control for years. What I cannot fathom is how they would do it under the guise of natural rights. If the democratic process means anything, it means the consent of the governed. We cannot let the courts do this, or we do not have a democracy.

So get busy, and start talking to these candidates. I know it is tough; I know we lost some pro-family members in the last election. But we have got to make this effort now. And in all likelihood, one of three candidates is going to be the next president of the United States.

I don’t ever make partisan endorsements. But Christians, I believe, will be watching closely what these three candidates and others running for the House and Senate say about this issue.

still haven't addressed the facts
I don't ignore the importance of Christianity, but I have called you on sticking to your own principles to get at the truth of something as contentious as this.
And you go off on an emotional tear or sermon like speech, completely forgetting the history of this country and the creeds of the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

You DON'T and CAN'T have favor by the government, nor can your beliefs abuse another citizen of their protections and access. Even CRIMINALS are accorded that protection because many things in society REQUIRE more than the response or feelings you want to express.
Homosexuality is very specific BEYOND what the Bible says. Just as slavery of another human being or the subjugation of women on religious grounds is anathema to a CIVILIZED function of our society.

But our country at one time approved of those actions and can't anymore. And can't respond to gay people the way YOU want.
Gay people argree to the standards and responsibilities that ALL citizens have for marriage. And our laws have to respond CONSISTENTLY with the intents and purposes of marriage as we know them for the long time they've been in place.
And using the state or federal Constitutions against THEIR traditions over THIS issue alone is what is uncivil and VERY frightening.

answer to Jeffrey:
Jeffrey said:

"For no other issue does a gay person have different status from a straight person than for marriage. And, somewhat oddly, California has a domestic partnership law that grants the same rights as different sex couples to same sex couples."

It's somewaht oddly?

I think it's the only plausible way to make a gay union less than artificial, on the face of it.

Would passing a law make me able to breathe underwater equal to a fish? NO; but if I'm not equal, the fish is getting breaks I haven't got! I refuse to live this ordinary life! Your hysterical rationale. Pass that law, I'll breathe like the fish.
