Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

If I hear one more person point out that Obama is the president and that it’s our duty to support him, I just might run amok. For one thing, I resent being reminded that he actually won the election and that it’s not all a bad dream from which I’ll awaken as soon as the alarm clock rings. For another, there was a very good reason that I voted for John McCain, and it certainly had nothing to do with my having great expectations of the man, and everything to do with my conviction that Obama was a left-wing ideologue.

Judging by the early days of his administration, I have had to reevaluate him. He’s even worse than I feared. It’s been one disaster after another. His appointments have been a series of embarrassments. His hard sell of the Pelosi-Reid trillion dollar earmark makes him look like the worst sort of fear-monger. And, considering the fact that he was sold to us as eloquent and a fellow who could think on his feet, his use of a teleprompter at his press conference reminded me of the Wizard of Oz, the con man behind the curtain. I guess you can take the man out of Chicago, but you can’t take Chicago out of the man.

Frankly, I don’t know why anybody continues to hold Obama in high esteem. Maybe it’s like those women who marry charming fellows only to discover after the vows have been exchanged that he’s an abuser. In spite of the black eyes and split lips, the ladies are just too embarrassed to call the cops and have their friends and relatives discover what a dunderhead they’ve been.

The way Obama has been jetting around on Air Force One, which costs the taxpayers a bloody fortune every time it lifts off the tarmac, you’d think the environmentalists would be reading him the riot act. But as we’ve learned with Al Gore and Robert Kennedy, Jr., so long as you’re a liberal, you only have to say the right things about fossil fuels, you don’t actually have to believe them.

The question that keeps begging to be asked is whether Obama ever says anything with honest conviction. Even when he championed the so-called stimulus bill, he indulged in double talk. Obama swore that it would create or save four million jobs. Now I can’t swear to be an expert in Obama-speak, but to me that sounds like he gets to claim, if at some time in the future there are four million Americans who are still employed, that he lived up to his word.

What truly astounds me isn’t that the Democrats, along with three feeble-minded Republicans, Specter, Collins and Snowe, voted for the pork pie, even though nobody had had the time to wade through its thousand pages. After all, even without knowing the details, they knew that the actual purpose of the legislation was to suck up even more money and power for themselves, thus completing the job begun 75 years ago by FDR. What I found profoundly depressing was that, according to a recent poll, a majority of Americans approved its passage even though they were convinced that it would hurt, not help, them. Perhaps the politicians are entitled to regard us as contemptuously as they do.

One of the provisions of the bill, the one dealing with health care, pretty much gives the federal bureaucrats the power to determine how much money and effort is expended on behalf of the elderly. If you thought HMOs were bad, you ain’t seen nothing yet. When I heard about it, I was instantly reminded of a 1973 movie called “Soylent Green.” The title of the Charlton Heston-Edward G. Robinson movie referred to the product turned out by the mysterious Soylent Corporation. It took Mr. Heston most of the movie to discover that Soylent Green was the end result of old people being turned into protein wafers.

As if Obama isn’t annoying enough, the way he is constantly jutting his chin skyward as if in homage to Benito Mussolini, he saddles us with an attorney general who calls white Americans cowards because, to his way of thinking, we don’t engage in frank conversations about racial matters.

I get the impression that Eric Holder is confused about the nature of his job. He is only the government’s chief lawyer. Being the public scold is, in the immortal words of his boss, above his pay scale.

It seems that while Holder grants that these days the workplace is integrated, he is troubled that there’s “not much significant interaction between whites and blacks in social settings. On Saturdays and Sundays, America in the year 2009 does not, in some ways, differ significantly from the country that existed some 50 years ago.”

This arrogant twit who, in spite of playing a part in Bill Clinton’s pardoning of Marc Rich and commuting the sentences of 16 Puerto Rican terrorists and a handful of Arab troublemakers, got the job for no other reason than that he’s black. He wants frank talk? Fine.

One, most white Americans don’t spend a lot of time dwelling on anyone’s race. They’re much too busy trying to make a living and raising their kids. Two, in case you were out of town, white people just got done electing the first black president. Three, most people, black and white, spend their weekends with their families, who, even now, tend to be of their own race. Four, many Americans belong to churches open to all denominations, even though Holder’s boss attended an all-black church for 20 years. I have no idea what sort of church, if any, Mr. Holder attends, but if spending quality time with white people is so important to him, that might be a good place to begin.

Five, does our new attorney general spend much time with Asians or Hispanics, or is it only whites he yearns to hang with? Six, does this mean that he intends to start inviting lots of non-blacks over to the house for weekend bar-be-cues and sleepovers? And has he run this plan by Mrs. Holder?

As I recall, Barack Obama insisted he was going to be the first post-racial president. Perhaps sitting down and talking turkey with this turkey would be the place to start.

Some people have wondered why I, who take so much interest in politics and politicians, have never run for public office. Aside from not wishing to spend much time with politicians, the only job that would appeal to me is the top one. I mean, who wants to be one of 435 congressmen and have to listen to Nancy Pelosi day in and day out or be one of 100 senators and try to stay awake while Harry Reid, Robert Byrd or Barbara Boxer, droned on?

As for being president, I’m afraid the deck is stacked against me. It’s not that I’m Jewish or a conservative, but that I’m bald, short and have a beard. The fact is it’s been 53 years since we last elected a bald president, and Eisenhower had the advantage of twice running against bald Adlai Stevenson. In nearly every presidential election, the taller candidate wins. And, for good measure, the last man with facial hair to be president was William Howard Taft, who only had a mustache, and that election was in 1908. The last man with a beard to be elected was James Garfield, in 1880, and he was shot and killed shortly after he was elected. Even I can see the writing on that wall.

Just possibly the reason we wind up with so many oafs in the Oval Office is because, down deep, it’s far more important to us that they be tall, clean shaven and with a full head of hair, than that they be honest, honorable and patriotic.

Finally, lest I be accused of only picking on left-wingers, let me confess that I recently sent an e-mail to Sean Hannity. Although I think dumping Alan Colmes was a smart move, I let him know that I thought the “Hate Hannity Hotline” videos on his TV show were a ridiculous waste of time. After all, if I wanted to listen to a bunch of loudmouth, left-wing ignoramuses sounding off, I wouldn’t be tuned to Fox, I’d be watching MSNBC.

Glad we took
our live savings out of the market 6 months ago...saw it coming. He may succeed in wiping out the majority of the middle class but hoping there were more of "Us" out there - who saw what he is for what he is. His day in the sun will end...the press is already beginning to reveal the truth. Give it time my friends...this man will eventually face the music.

USPatriot56
has the right answers.
He's not my president either.
UNTIl, and IF, he presents the papers proving he is who he says he is.
Actually, I don't believe he can do it. That Certificate of Birth is NOT a Birth Certificate. It just means you were born sometime, somewhere.
So, bring out the real stuff and maybe we can reconsider.
Of course, this bullsh*t scenario you're running through congress won't attract anyone. HR45 will have the little people fighting off the government, literally. The elimination of firearms would do what to this nation? Besides making it a dictatorship??

Giving Hope and Change New Meaning
"Hope" and "Change" were part of the Obama mantra. These two words have taken on a new meaning since Teleprompter Boy was inaugurated. I hope I have change left in my pocket when Obama and his band of merry thieves leave office.

Kudos to Burt for writing what so many of us feel especially the part about Obama being a bad dream. I have had that bad dream feeling since Nov. 4.

Not MY president ...
He is a fraud ...

SHOW ME THE BC ...

and the college papers ...

and the passports ...

and the name cahnge papers ...

NOHOHOHOHO...
Not my president and not fit to lick the boots of our military nor of the hard-working middle class taxpayer whom he is attempting (and doing a fine job of it) to destroy. My president is required to love America, freedom, and life. Strike three, you're out.

For the first time ever...
For the first time ever I am truly freightened for the future of this country. First the Obamination will try to destroy talk radio, then go after the Internet. He and his ilk will not be happy until all opposition is finished. I loathed the Clintons but even they did not scare me this way.
As for the 63% of the apathetic, uneducated boobs who approve of the job he is doing, I wonder if they will feel the same way after he pushes socialized medicine through and some federal bureaucrat decides they don't really need that chemotherapy or heart bypass operation. Or perhaps a younger illegal alien can use it more, sorry.
One thing is for sure, 4 years from now I can look myself in the mirror and say that I did not vote for this disaster.

Pelosi's Health Care Bill
Obama has turned the Health Care Bill over to Nancy (pop-up) Pelosi. What kind of health care will Pelosi & CO. write? If it is anything like the unstimulus pork package,we are in a heap of trouble.

Seadog
And which British newspaper had that comment or headline; I certainly haven't found it yet and I read the British paper quite frequently.

Jimmy Cat, Chris from OR, Carlos, Anne
The best of what? Torture, lying about getting us into a war, spending money like it grows on trees, denying women the healthcare of their choice, refusing to even look at people who disagree with you? Refusing to engage other nations in meaningful diplomacy?

We have always had social engineering in this country. Slavery was social engineering; denying women the vote, property rights, especially if they married is social engineering. Urban renewal to aid businesses no one in the neighborhood wants is social engineering. Civil rights laws that allow southern black people to exercise their right to vote is social engineering. Government programs to aid the hungry, build utilities, and kids into college is social enginerring.

I don't need a coin set; I own my own home and I have a very good working washer and dryer at my disposal, thank you anyway!

If Anne runs amok, let me know where she intends to run, so I can call the police and get her arrested for disorderly conduct (unless she has a permit). Wouldn't want to let her troll around my neighborhood's kids. They might get the wrong idea about women like her.

President yes. Like it no.
I went from hoping for the best, to thinking the worst. The reasons:

Talked down the economy (to buy ms pelosi time to pass our ticket to eternal debt). Does he think he can talk it back up again then take credit? Probably arrogant enough to think so. He's taken a bad situation and made it worse.
Or does he not want the economy back up? I'm thinking the latter. I think we would have seen the start of recovery by now if not for him.

Sent a letter to Russia in a grand show of naivete. They're laughing at us now (especially after giggling Hillary presented her "restart button). We will be the laughstock of the diplomatic community. I'd prefer a cowboy they're a little afraid of myself.

Vowed to clean up government. Has done so by getting tax cheats off the streets and into the white house where they belong. Same with lobbyists. (I have learned that when he makes a rule, it only applies to other people, not to him)

Hugged republicans and shook their hands, thinking that was how you be "bipartisan". Then told them to check their ideas at the door for the stimulus "because I won". Obviously didn't spend enough time in the senate to know how that works. Or maybe he doesn't care-after all, they only need 3 stooges.

One of the all-time best columns
I read almost every column, virtually every day, and that might well be among the top ten best. I resonate with every word.

"Lying liberal" = redundant

EUROPEAN AMERICANS UNITE
Speaking of race: My grandparents immigrated from Norway, Sweden, Hungary, and Austria. I prefer to be called Euro-American, rather than white, please. Because it has many more syllables and it's harder to say. Thank you.

here's some race talk
Lifting the ban on federal money for EMBRYONIC (sorry. The media keeps leaving that bit out and it irritates me.) stem cell research isn't enough for some of the scientists. They want to create embryoNIC CHILDREN to harvest cells from. Now President Obama is Kenyan Black rather than American Black so maybe he is unaquainted with the practice of deliberately breeding babies for the owner's use. Maybe someone could explain it to him. Along with the Tuskegee syphilis experiments. Science unfettered, you know.

Read today in a British newspaper:
OBAMA -- One Bad A&& Mistake America!

I agree with you about different liberals here. There are a few who will be civil even though they disagree with you.

When I first started posting Hal answered one of mine and we wrote back and forth several times. No matter what I said,he would counter it,but not nasty. I think now,I'll bet lots of posters thought I was crazy trying to get anything across to him.

I don't answer him now unless he really ridicules me and makes me mad. I hardly ever even read his posts. Most of the time they are confusing to me. He usually doesn't get really nasty like Robert, though. Just persistent.

One reason I don't like to debate liberals is because they don't tell the truth. It may be what they believe, but it not the truth. They don't try to prove it with facts, just rhetoric.

Hope you had a good golf outing!

BO is
NOT my president. I am awaiting proof of birth and explanations about the foreign campaign contributions that flooded in to his coffers.

AMEN
Amen

Results matter.
The teleprompter president is failing to deliver results by not addressing the underlying causes for our economic collapse: to wit, the banking industry and capital markets.

He's forever talking about populist ideas, not saving the system that creates economic successes. Let the banks and financial institutions that are insolvent deal with the results of their fiscal stupidity. The system will cleanse itself.

The same goes for those who purchased mortgages they couldn't afford...we'll call them the "free lunch" folks---no there isn't one, but they surely believed there is.

Obama's centrist instincts are becoming clear: nationalize banks and health care, confiscate guns from law-abiding citizens, permit the unfettered murder of innocent unborns, and expand the welfare state.

This is what the left is celebrating?

Astonishing.

With very few exceptions, I'm already doing what you (and many other conservatives before you) have urged. Frankly, it's become the relatively rare liberal I respond to directly anymore on this board.

Yesterday, on Michelle Malkin's thread, for example, Robert of CA responded to one post of mine with a response that completely ignored what I had said in the post. But since he at least took a civil tone, I figured he deserved a civil reply: I told him that unless he was going to address the things I actually said in the post, I wasn't going to discuss the matter further with him. He then shot back with another post that at least DID directly touch on what I had said in that post, so I told him NOW I'd give him a direct answer - which I did, civilly.

That illustrates the approach I take these days toward the liberals who come here: if they seem interested in a genuine and reasonably civil discussion, I'll engage them that way. Even though I agree with fairly little he says, christianlib seems to take this approach, so I've had several civil back-and-forths with him recently. Of course, how many libs take that approach anymore?

I've decided I'm through with Hal Donahue: since I almost never get a direct answer from him anymore (who DOES?) on a direct question, I've decided, what's the point? And besides, what's the point of trying to have dialogue with a pathological liar? And why ANY conservative here responds to ed in FL (aka Mario) I'll never know. It's not because he openly expresses his contempt for us: he's so far out there that to me, like with Chloe, I find him downright COMICAL now rather than IRKSOME. But he has little else to say other than insults, and like Hal and so many other liberals who comes here, he's an inveterate liar, which is for me THE single biggest disqualifier for engaging a liberal directly.

Well, looks like the rain's going to hold off, so I'm off to the golf course. Have a great day!

Burt
You express it for us well - anyone who cared to explore 'that one' (remember that McCainism) knew he was a revolting personality in so many ways. He hasn't been surprising except for, as you note, the absolute magnitude of his evil.

I still can't get over people who continue to give him the benefit of the doubt. What's to doubt? He's taken lying to a new quantum level. He's committed himself to spending that can't be described as anything other than insane.

And, after creating an unemployment graph that looks like the daredevil's slope at Aspen, he disingenuously (the word sounds weak to describe his level of lying) claims that by taking over health care, the one sector with still some economic health, he can save the economy. (When will it dawn that he's not interested in saving anything but rather in destroying as much as he can.)

He reminds me of a commercial some decades back when American Tourister was demonstrating the strength of their luggage by locking in a jail cell with several pieces of their luggage an enraged chimp which was throwing them all over the place.

This is the same kind deranged and dangerous ape/creature that now inhabits the White House - a twisted mass of emotional hatreds of the kind that are much more graphically and prominently etched in his wife's face.

WARNING: get near him and he'll eat your face off too.

YOU MADE MY DAY
Great essay! I couldn't have said it better myself. Why don't we hear about other minorities for a change? Why is it always A-A's? For example, there is a real need in this country for some appreciation for Asian-Americans. They feed us in over 100,000 restaurants across the country every day. They excel in all technologies and sciences and math areas. Their kids excel in school, and the parents make sure they do. They don't yell and complain about prejudice, yet they've had plenty of it. They have also been exploited as slave labor building our railroads and working our mines in the old West. Yet, they don't protest, march, scream and holler and make demands about their status. We could use an Asian-American History month to get out the message of their contributions to our country. And I'm not talking about the little known Pacific Asian History in Seattle. I mean a nationwide event that is covered by our bitterly biased media. Signed, Thanx for a great essay!

I respect our President
I respect the office, to be more precise, which means I won't be employing inane name calling and the like. I just lack respect for 99.9% of everything he and his administration have done in the last month and a half.

Stand up for the President?
We as republicans have to stand up and support our new President...just like the democrats stood up and supported the last one. When in doubt I just do the opposite of whatever our wonderful hypocritical sycophantic liberals decide to do or say. Works every time.

Cavell's payback statement 12:18 AM EST
You suffered under Bush for eight years? Now that is just about the most disingenous, uniformed, ignorant statement I've ever read on TH opinions. Either Cavell is child of eleven years and a product of public schools or he/she is a blooming idiot. Obviously Cavell didn't pick up on the fact that Bush outspent Clinton when it came to social programs to help the "unfortunates" in our society. Also, Cavell didn't pick up on the fact that Bush's war on terrorism both domestic and foreign has been a huge success (regardless of what the witless liberal biased press has to say). Also Cavell doesn't seem to understand how well(??) the federal government responds to natural disasters (Katrina) let alone man-made disasters (Pelose, Reid, Frank, Dodd mortgage scams). Oh yeah, we need some more of that!

But we here at TH are a forgiving bunch. We understand that public schools don't educate people about the basics of economics so they wouldn't know a highly educated scam artist like Obama when they see one.

Rowly
Agree 100%. The trolls are here to waste our time with capricious arguments, harrass, annoy, and try to demoralize. They're following Alinsky's marching orders straight from the book.

Ignore them and hopefully they'll dissipate like the bad smell that they are.

GOOD COLUMN
good concepts. But how do we convince the 63% who still approve of Obama? That 63% number is even more disappointing than Obama's insipid and clueless performance.

Burt has hit it spot on again
It IS that syndrom of the abused wife/girl friend who refuses to press charges after she is beaten senseless by her slug husband/boy friend. I have a neighbor who still sports his Obama/Biden campaign posters on his house. We are in a predominately black neighborhood so he's safe. If, however, we were in a white middle-class area, I think his house would have been TP'd and egged by now.\

Anyone with any common sense can see that this dunce has no clue. He is reacting daily to the problems that crop up, and other than a solid background in communism, has no clue how a captitalist society works. But you who voted for him share is cluelessness so congrats to you!

Troll Feedings
You conservatives on townhall keep feeding these Soros minions. Giving them a platform to spout their socialistic nonsense. Their minds are set in stone.

They are no doubt on the government dole or they would be up in air about Dear Leader's income distribution. If they had any money of their own....would they want it distributed to deadbeats? I DON'T THINK SO !

No,most of them ARE deadbeats. They are all too happy to see others' retirement decimated by this socialist/Marxist Robber Baron in the White House.

Let these Soros/ACORN slugs debate themselves. Don't try to educate them. They already know what they want. THEY WANT OUR MONEY !!!

Obama and millions of jobs
Pelosi was bleating that we would be losing 500 million jobs for Americans a month from now on if the stimulus bill didn't pass. Ignore the fact that we would soon be out of ALL jobs, but I haven't heard her or Obama calling for an expulsion of illegal aliens. He could add 12 million jobs for Americans right there.

the only job that would appeal to me is
With all due respect, Mr Prelutsky, please consider the RNC chairmanship. Per your bibliography you would be perfect to position the RNC to educate and inform through a media you are so familiar with, television.

I need not remind you that your Townhall editorials elicit great respect and the largest quantity of quality comments, though occasionally wallowing in the mud slinging should be above the much elevated status, but please continue commenting on your own column.

With respect to the current RNC chairman, Michael Steele. I am sure he is most qualified however his sitting in for Bill Bennett leaves me wondering about his communication skills. Yours are excellent and would be better in extolling and educating, which is in a greater need at this time.

Thanks again for your columns and comments.

I know he's stuck on stupid. It really isn't an attempt to educate Hal or any Liberal. It is a two-fer:

1) Tax The Rich? OK, to what degree? At what point is everybody happy?

2) Ignorance Is Not Bliss. It Is Just Obfuscation On Their Part. Have you notice how Liberals can never fully explain or defend their positions without cutting and pasting talking points? It is always just "It's all Bush's fault."

Thank God, we aren't that stupid.

Hi Denise
I see your still trying to educate Hal. Good luck, but trust me you can't fix stupid. The obama lovers are like Michael Jackson fans.

Alice ...

Still upset about the Obama coin-set?

A Question For Hal The Liberal

I understand your positions relative to enormous spending by the government to "help folks out" and I get that you only want to tax the "dreaded 'rich'". Of course, I disagree with you on both, but I have a question:

Let's assume, for argument's sake, that only the top 5% should pay taxes. I would like to know, if you believe that the Goobermint should just pay for everything for the other 95%? And, when I say everything, I mean everything from gum & movie tickets to mortgages, car payments, socialized medicine, tuition through doctorate school, etc.

Is this what you want? Well, the top 5% can't pay for it today, tomorrow or ever. They don't have enough money and they might just crossover to the entitlement-enlightenment side.

You seem to be offended.

==

lolo, there is no way or time that you could offend me if we are discussing politics or travel, the more I hear the more I like it.

You say: While I do think travel is useful, I do not think it totally necessary or a priority either. Travel is great provided you have learned enough to understand and process the information.

My reply: While I do think attending a conference is useful, I do not think it totally necessary or a priority either. A conference is great provided you have learned enough to understand and process the information.

Let me try again. Some people keep hollering about multiculturalism, trying to tell us that the more people from other cultures that come to our country, the better we will be. The correct word for that is MURDER culturalism. Trying to mix too many cultures, destroys the originals.

This is a cut and paste: Eggs, Milk, Flour, and Butter are each special items (cultures), and if you combine 2 1/2 cups of flour, 2 Eggs, a 1/2 cup of a Milk, a tablespoon of Butter, and a sprinkle of salt, you have created the wonderful new “Culture” of Noodles.

But if you combine 2 1/2 cups of eggs, 2 cups Milk, a tablespoon of flour, and a 1/2 cup of salt, you have not only created a mess, you have eliminated the original culture of flour, milk, butter, and salt.

Just to combine cultures willy-nilly, completely eliminates the original culture, and results in something else, mostly a total mess.

One last comment on learning about the culture of a country, and its political situation, consider this. What good would it be to listen to Robert MUGABE, if you knew nothing about the way of life in that country for the past 30 years that he has been in power.

I say, learn about the people and their way of life, before you bother to learn about their politics.

Did you lose my Email address?

What a spectacular cement-head.

To get an idea of just *how* spectacular a cement-head this Scrantonion Scrode-Snatcher really is, let's go to a very good article published on Mises.org earlier this week by Robert P. Murphy.

It starts out like so:

"There's an old joke where the first guy says, 'What's the difference between drapes and toilet paper?'

"The second guy says, 'I don't know, what?'

"Then the first guy responds, 'You are not allowed in my house!'

"After watching the 'expert' economists debate our financial crisis during the past year, I realize that we can modify the joke. Today I would ask the econobloggers and op-ed writers, 'What's the difference between monetary policy and interest rates?'

"If an economist answered, 'I don't know, what?' then he is not allowed to advise the government."

Hal - obviously! - doesn't know the difference between capital and counterfeit.

Can somebody please shove a two-by-four up this dork's deposition and prop him up somewhere for the buzzards?

Lolo: He's such a worm! But then, so are

most of the libs... errr.. libs in general!

Yes, you're right... the demo-Socialist/Marxist philosophy....

"FREEDOM OF SPEECH for me, but NOT for thee!"

And how in the world they get "revolt" out of our "Tea Parties" is beyond me!

But then, doofass does insist that our founding fathers did intend for us to be Socialists.

I can't believe that anyone really... really believes that, but the very notion that they might just mean that seriously makes blood shoot right out of my eyes!!!

I'm convinced... convinced I tell you, that doofass does need his wife to open the cereal box in the morning..."Lift tab" because that's just too difficult for doofass!

Summers
"'If we are to restore capitalism we need a RAPID INFLUX of capital OVER TIME.' (Emphasis supplied.) You don't seriously think that statement makes any sense, do you? If that is the best that you can do, simply say so and I will not purse it further."

That has got to be one of the dumbest statements I have read in a long time. He can't dazzle you with brains so he will baffle you with BS! 'RAPID INFLUX of capital OVER TIME' is a contradictory statement.

Anne
"It's called FREEDOM OF SPEECH, which is also protected under the Constitution."

For Hal and his fellow scum, it is only Freedom of speech when you agree with them. These fools are ready, willing, and able to limit your freedoms in order to advance their agenda.

Yeah doofass: You keep slipping around

and avoiding questions.....

What a pa-the-tic answer on Limbaugh!!!

"...Oh, and was it "anti-American" when you intellectually limited idiot liberals were shouting HATE for eight years during the Bush admin.? Huh? Huh? Huh? Huh? Huh? Huh? "

Did I ask you for a diatribe on what YOU think the Republicans are supposedly doing now?

NO! NO I DID NOT!

I simply asked, "was it "anti-American" when you ... liberals were shouting HATE for eight years during the Bush admin.?"

You can't follow direction very well, can you?

"We stayed within the constitution and the political system."

NOT WHAT I ASKED!

Again, I asked, "was it "anti-American" when you ... liberals were shouting HATE for eight years during the Bush admin.?"

"We did not threaten revolt and secession like you silly folks."

NOT WHAT I ASKED!

And again, I asked, "was it "anti-American" when you ... liberals were shouting HATE for eight years during the Bush admin.?"

"Hey focus all your time on frivolous court cases saying Obama is not a citizen or call for impeachment or even have your little demonstrations all that is American."

I DID NOT ASK FOR ONE OF YOUR INSANE DIATRIBES!

But now that you mention it, "little demonstrations" are IN FACT A CONSTITUTIONALLY PROTECTED RIGHT!

"Calling the president a traitor and calling for revolution is simply anti American."

Again, NOT WHAT I ASKED! BUT, I'm not sure where in your little mind you conjured up that anyone is calling for a revolution... and, just for your information, we have that right to accuse him of being even a traitor if we think, and have reason to believe that he's been less than honest with the American people.

It's called FREEDOM OF SPEECH, which is also protected under the Constitution.

Obama, the messiah of the left is NOT my president. I didn't vote for this evil jerk as I did not believe in his evil, stupid diatribe or the policies that he sespoused.
This is not my government as it is one of evil, led by a Party of Evil that is destroying our country.

Good article...I agree 100%

Another thing that bothers me though is how many Americans are right there in line to take that money and hurt other Americans.

The Kenyan president is a phoney. The big charismatic messiah isn't so great of a speaker without the teleprompter either. How embarrassing when other leaders can actually speak without one. Is he going to carry one with him to other countries too. OMG

First elected official I've ever seen with so many different names.

Still voting democrat? Stuck on stupid..

You seem to be offended.

My mind has not changed. I still think your grand daughter is putting the cart before the horse. Her education will be stellar, maybe, if she plans on being an ambassador, but hardly necessary to be an ambassador either.

While I do think travel is useful, I do not think it totally necessary or a priority either. Travel is great provided you have learned enough to understand and process the information.

Bottom Line
The single greatest threat to America is Social Engineering.

We now have the first President that is openly hostel to business while using the power of the presidency for a crusade to change how everyone lives.

I've never seen a BIG BUSINESS that is only one man. But most BIG BUSINESSES employ many people. I've been a "grunt" in several, which even at minimum wage was still a job.

When you punish ANY business through taxation, you punish the "little guy" who works for them. It's no wonder that wall street & the economy will persist in doing poorly. What every PRIVATE business that's big enough for even a couple employees can expect from Obama is an enemy.
Terrorism wont be what destroys America, but liberal "social justice" IS destroying America before our eyes right now.

Shallow Hal
I presume that your comments about the WWII's physical and social infrastructures is a positive nod that you agreed with Eisenhower's actions in putting an interstate in place and expelling illegal aliens so that citizens, especially veterans, could have jobs. Is that correct?

Shallow Hal
No, Shallow Hal, it was not a 'no notice quiz'. You started the comparisons; I took it to the next logical level which is relevant at this moment.

'If we are to restore capitalism we need a RAPID INFLUX of capital OVER TIME.' (Emphasis supplied.) You don't seriously think that statement makes any sense, do you? If that is the best that you can do, simply say so and I will not purse it further.

I asked you to compare and contrast the domestic and trade policies of FDR, whom the Democrats seem to regard as an incarnation of something, and OB, the Dem messiah. It is not hard, Shallow Hal, or I would not have asked you.

Hal Donahue -- A Public School Prodegy
Hal Donahue offers, "They simply do not work because unregulated laissez faire capitalism leads only one place and sadly we are there again."

Absolute hyperbolic nonsense, as usual.

Where on earth is there "unregulated laissez faire capitalism"? Do you have any clue what you are going on about?

Obama Is All About Being A Cry-baby
Reagan was dealt a very bad hand: double-digit unemployment, over 15% interest rates for a home and a big, bad bear of an enemy lurking behind an iron curtain and causing havoc all over the world.

Reagan pared back the government and let the market heal itself, naturally. Then, set about taking care of the bear. Well done, all around.

By the way, Reagan never once pointed to his predecessor or his Administration for any blame or fault. He just did his job.

Of course, that was before we had a cry-baby for President that can't even handle a private citizen without a temper tantrum and a runny nose. Somebody give him a hanky! It's embarrassing! Putin has got to be laughing!

A no notice quiz! LOL Seriously Reaganism/hooverism are almost identical. They simply do not work because unregulated laissez faire capitalism leads only one place and sadly we are there again.

FDR was in uncharted territory as to some extent is Obama but we know so much more now than in FDR's day. My fear is that Obama will be too timid. If we are to restore capitalism we need a rapid influx of capital over time. The stimulus probably was not enough. Demand must be restored along with production.

Taxes on the well off should be restored to early sixties level but that cannot happen any time soon. What we have done is use up all the WWII generation's investments in physical and social infrastructure and not replaced it. We ate our seed corn and here we are again

Frankenstin & Coleman
The Minnesota Supreme Court today decided that Democrat Al Franken has no right to an election certificate — which would pave the way for Franken to immediately join the U.S. Senate — before the end of Republican Norm Coleman's court case.

"We conclude that neither state nor federal law requires issuance of a certificate of election before the election contest is completed; we deny the petition," the Supreme Court wrote in a unanimous opinion released today.

Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie, a Democrat and Gov. Tim Pawlenty, a Republican, have said that state law bars a Senate candidate from receiving an election certificate when there is a contested election.

Just a few Thomas Jefferson quotes
All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.

Every generation needs a new revolution

Every government degenerates when trusted to the rulers of the people alone. The people themselves are its only safe depositories

He who knows nothing is closer to the truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.

History, in general, only informs us of what bad government is

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

The last quote fits America today like none other.

Maybe I could make my point this way. There are 54 countries in Africa. I know you have extensive knowledge of many parts of the world, but just for example, if you knew nothing about the culture and the way of life in Lesotho, Guinea-Bissau, or Djibouti, of what value would a discussion be, of their political situation, or their leader?

I hadn’t thought of this until you mentioned it this morning, but I do think that a country consists of a border and a culture that changes little or slowly, but politics can change with a days notice.

If that happens, of what value is knowing about their politics last month, unless you know of their way of life?

I wouldn't be too sure about that. There is much to learn from travel, but it seems she is putting the cart before the horse.

While your grand daughter was traveling, my daughter was at the International World Affairs Conference confronting the Ambassador from Pakistan and his diplomatic core, along with the adviser to the President of Pakistan.

Traveling the world without understanding the direction it is heading is akin to sipping wine while your house is burning.

=========

Well Missy, combine our opinions and see what you get.

It is my opinion, and my remembrance from my early travels starting 65 years ago, that until you get a taste and the touch of the Culture, the politics are of little value. The more countries I visited, the more I knew about the countries I had already seen.

Since we traveled in an RV, we met the real people and talked about the real country, everywhere we went. If you travel the hotel/restaurant mode, what you hear from the people you meet, employees or tourists, is what they remember that some other visitor told them, or what that person liked to hear.

We found over and over, that the clerk in a bakery or a grocery store was just as happy to meet us and discuss their country, as the bellhop and the waiter were happy to receive a tip.

As you can imagine, I talked culture and politics with people in dozens of countries.

I think it is important to know more about the world of real people, before you try to understand the political nature of that country. Even the real people in a country know little about the real politics of that country.

Think of our country. Do you think that someone in Maine or Alabama would understand the political crap coming out of Wash DC even better, if first they understood the culture and way of life in Colorado, Wyoming, or New Mexico?

Duty To Support?
Burt, great column as usual. You put a lot out to respond to but I'll only tackle the first point.

I have heard the same thing from many liberals and Obama supporters. He won so we now have a sacred DUTY to support him and agree with EVERYTHING he says and does. Funny how the same principle never applied to Bush.

Oh but they will say Bush was wrong and Obama is right. You are entitled to your opinion. I happen to believe that Bush was right on many(not all) things and Obama is in the wrong on many things.

Plus when did we become a dictatorship where the leader commands complete and instant support, cooperation and respect?

Folks I will show Barack Obama certain respect due his OFFICE. I was willing to give him some time and leeway. But I am afraid that 45 days after his inauguration he has shown he is not the man for the job and will do more harm than good to our country.

So spare me the "duty to support" argument. Obama hasn't shown me that he deserves it yet.

U.S. Presidents Don't Sell America
Allegedly, according to some articles, Hillary went to communist China with the blessings of Obama and allegedly made some sort of deal that would give parts of our country to communist China if the U.S. defaults on their loan. It would seem to me rather than selling a country that they don't own but belongs to WE THE PEOPLE without their approval would have been resolved by printing the trillions owed to the communists and paying off that debt first if this allegation is true - and if it is true - WE THE PEOPLE must ask - is that grounds for impeachment?

Was he part of the plan to bring chaos to the country so Obama could have a free hand to finish the job?

Here’s a neighborhood story,
when a black family moves in down the street.

About 50 years ago we lived on a very nice residential street. I didn’t know many of the people, but Sweetie and my daughter knew many of them.

One time a Black family moved in down the street. My daughter walked to school with the young girl, they played together, and yes the Black daughter spent a lot of time at our house. One time the Black girl was at our home to play and eat dinner with our daughter. Sweetie and I went to dinner with our best friends (for the next 50 years), a Turkish Jew, and his Mexican wife. I guess we touched all the bases that day. Sweeties parents were German immigrants, and no one ever saw two members of my family on the same boat, back in the early 1770s.

One man on the street was very unhappy about the black family, and said so at every chance.

To make a long story shorter, his son joined the Cub Scouts. Yes I know you are getting ahead of me, but after the son bragged so many times about the great Cub Scout Leader, the unhappy man met him!!

The white family moved.

Canadian Socialized Health Care:
================================
The Ugly Truth About
Canadian Health Care
by David Gratzer, Summer 2007 City Journal

"On a subzero Winnipeg morning in 1997, I cut across the hospital emergency room to shave a few minutes off my frigid commute.

Swinging open the door, I stepped into a nightmare: the ER overflowed with elderly people on stretchers, waiting for admission.

Some, it turned out, had waited five days. The air stank with sweat and urine.

Right then, I began to reconsider everything that I thought I knew about Canadian health care.

I soon discovered that the problems went well beyond overcrowded ERs.

Patients had to wait for practically any diagnostic test or procedure, such as the man with persistent pain from a hernia operation whom we referred to a pain clinic—with a three-year wait list; or the woman needing a sleep study to diagnose what seemed like sleep apnea, who faced a two-year delay; or the woman with breast cancer who needed to wait four months for radiation therapy, when the standard of care was four weeks."

This is an example of what Barack Obama wants for America.

Barack Obama thinks that the 'Destruction' of America's Health Care system, will be one of the Obama Administrations greatest achievements.

Interesting why one would go to another country which does not have socialized medicine for treatment when they live in a country with socialized medicine. Guess socialized health care is NOT what it is cracked up to be. (but i already knew that) :)

The pro from Dover
If they are electing the same people over and over I have no sympathy for them. I thought Chicago had the the most corrupt politicians.

So why is he here having surgery and not GB?

OBAMA IS NOT MY PRESIDENT.
How's that?

Great article, Burt
Direct hits from start to finish!

Cavell wants to know what rights we've lost? Does he mean this week or since the founding of the Republic?

You morons!
I mostly agree with you clowns here at Townhall, but you're a bit over the top on this one. You really think that by saying, "Obama's not MY president!" that it becomes true?!"

He is not my President.
This is a true statement.

I stand here
"The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive. ... I like a little rebellion now and then. It is like a storm in the atmosphere." --Thomas Jefferson

I am full of rebellion against this lying man Obama.
I will never never never recognize this fool as my President.
Like it or lump it

Greetings, Anne, m'dear.
It's more than knowing which fork to use, it takes a certain amount of "Class" to lunch with the queen, something not just sadly lacking, but totally non-existent in the Obama family. He wouldn't even qualify to serve the queen's breakfast, never mind sit at the same table.

He's Just A Thug...
He's just the top thug of Chicago! He has made many constitutional infractions, but people are too blind and/or too lame to do anything about it!

No...Obabba ain't my president. He's a FILTHY POS!

"IS ANYBODY LISTENING...Rick Santelli"

Kudos, Burt...
I enjoyed your column, as usual, and found your perspective to be right on...you'd have my vote for the top job!!

Absolutely Dead On, Burt!
Everyone keeps saying, "Give Him Some Time To Work His Program!"

Are they crazy?

We have a nut case Witch Doctor of a President telling us that our best remedy to get stronger is through blood-letting. If we give him any more time, we will be bled dry and ready for burial!

Unfortunately, I think that is his plan. What better way to conquer a country than to become its president and run it out of business. Our enemies must be laughing at our very public suicide.

America has lost its mind!

Right on! Right on! Right on!
I'd vote for you,Burt! Thanks for keeping it real. Lately I feel like I'm living in a parallel universe, so I am so pleased I'm not out here alone. Keep speaking the truth with such clarity.

Poll Numbers
Dear Leader's poll numbers are said to be around fifty five percent. Isn't that about the same percentage of people who voted for him?

It takes the lame-brained a little longer to see things as they are and some never will see the light. Many are the left-wing media brainwashed.

Then there are the die-hard socialists/Marxists who live right here among us and boast about it every day, though not in so many words. They see the light and are loving it.

How about the recent news articles quoting born-and-bred commie thug Putin specifically saying "don't try socialism, it's a total and catastrophic failure"?

The fact that surrender-monkey-in-chief still decides to go on that path shows that he (0bama) is way beyond insane."

Putin and Obama have one thing in common. They talk out both sides of their mouth!!! Gorbachev already fingered him for being a communist and Russia still not being free.

Good column, Burt.
Truth couched in humor is a great way to get your point across. Keep up the good work.

"Three contractors are bidding to fix a broken fence at the White House. One is from Chicago, another is from Tennessee, and the third is from Minnesota.

All three go with a White House official to examine the fence. The Minnesota contractor takes out a tape measure and does some measuring, then works some figures with a pencil. "Well," he says, "I figure the job will run about $900: $400 for materials, $400 for my crew and $100 profit for me."

The Tennessee contractor also does some measuring and figuring, then says, "I can do this job for $700: $300 for materials, $300 for my crew and $100 profit for me."

The Chicago contractor doesn't measure or figure, but leans over to the White House official and whispers, "$2,700." The official, incredulous, says, "You didn't even measure like the other guys! How did you come up with such a high figure?"

The Chicago contractor whispers back, "$1000 for me, $1000 for you, and we hire the guy from Tennessee to fix the fence."

"Done!" replies the government official."

"My G’Daughter is spending her second year at Pepperdine at their London Campus. She takes advantage of every chance -- three-day weekends, spring break -- to travel all over Europe. My daughter says that all travel expense is from the G’Daughter pocket, she worked long hours at In and Out Burger to make sure she could see a lot.

She may only be a B+ student, but I bet she learned a lot more from her travels this week to Krakow, Auschwitz, Birkenau, Wieliczka Salt Mine with Last Supper Bas-relief, Budapest, Vienna, Prague, then to Berlin, then home to London, then she learned of importance in any class semester.

Wonder if a job interviewer a few years from now will agree."

Some of you will find it weird… but ….I never thought it would come to this … 25 years ago I bought “Marxist Reader” for a $1.00 to use as reference for a Political Science term-paper. From time to time, I considered to recycle it, but never got around to it. Since then, it has been sitting on my bookshelf, just taking space. Now, it looks like I will actually be able to make some money on that investment ….since this is the future… never thought I would experience the madness that forced my family out of Poland to move the land of free….

This is a quote from a comic strip.

Peasant: What are you offering the peasants in your election speech today?

King: Nothing they can afford to refuse.

Elect me and I promise you Free Health Care, Free housing, Free Clothing, Food stamps, and jobs for everybody, any questions?

A peasant asks, “What do we needs jobs for?”

Well Anne
Considering that monkey-in-chief 0bama already (within 50 days of inauguration) signalled that he would accept abjectly surrendering Afghanistan back to Taliban (through Gates, at NATO summit in Krakow) and then went to Ottawa with almsbowl (which not even Dhimmi Carter had done), did you expect that he wouldn't gaffe-up the first visit by a foreign leader?

Doesn't this just sum it up?
One of the escapees from the asylum named Cavell says in the first post on this thread "Trust me when I say that your whining is possibly the sweetest music ever. Keep it up."

The only thing that brings joy to this crowd is to see other people miserable. Even though it is of no benefit to them personally, they love the class warfare of raising the taxes of people who are better off than them. They aren't very concerned about improving the lives and conditions of themselves and those who are dependent upon them as they are to see others losing wealth and falling on hard times. They wallow in other's misery.

They really are very shallow and pathetic beings.

He was born and raised a Communist

In 1980 in Vienna, we met a family born and raised in Communist Poland. To make a long story short, the next year they escaped from Poland, I made phone calls and in a few weeks they were in the US. They became citizens ASAP, and have been a proud productive American family since.

I received an Email from the boy who had been 16 when he came here. He now has a very good mid-management job for at a Fortune 500 company.

Gee this would be news to my daughter since she graduated last year with a 4.5 GPA. She now attends college in your state. I will be sure to tell her she cannot get higher than 4.0, when her flight gets in today.

Smartest Woman In Th World.....Hillary.
A veteran politician, Clinton compared the complex European political environment to that of the two-party U.S. system, before adding:

"I have never understood multiparty democracy.

"It is hard enough with two parties to come to any resolution, and I say this very respectfully, because I feel the same way about our own democracy, which has been around a lot longer than European democracy."

The remark provoked much headshaking in the parliament of a bloc that likes to trace back its democratic tradition thousands of years to the days of classical Greece.

One working lunch later with EU leaders, Clinton raised more eyebrows when she referred to EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, who stood beside her, as "High Representative Solano."

She also dubbed European Commission External Relations Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner as "Benito."

Even Carter wasn't THIS embarrassing!
"President Barack Obama dislikes Britain, but he's keen to meet the Queen"

Posted By: Iain Martin at Mar 6, 2009 at 12:44:22 [General]

"President Obama has been rudeness personified towards Britain this week. His handling of the visit of the Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, to Washington was appalling. First Brown wasn't granted a press conference with flags, then one was hastily arranged in the Oval office after the Brits had to beg. Obama looked like he would rather have been anywhere else than welcoming the British leader to his office and topped it all with his choice of present (*) for the PM. A box of 25 DVDS including ET, the Wizard of Oz and Star Wars? Oh, give me strength. We do have television and DVD stores on this side of the Atlantic. Even Gordon Brown will have seen those films too often already."

Oh pa-lease!!! First he invites HIMSELF to speak at Brandeburg Gate, then he GIVES BACK the Churchill bust that was graciously on loan from the UK, and NOW THIS?

What's next? He won't know what fork to use if he lunches with the Queen?

My 3yr. old granddaughter has MUCH better manners and a sense of appropriate social behavior and class than does that twit who calls himself POTUS. (And my 3yr. old granddaughter would know what fork to use!!!)

Great, great article!
Burt, this is magnificent! I've had ths same thoughts you've shared in this piece! Obama is an arrogant, ineffectual person. People who say, "give him a chance", I fear, don't understand what they're saying, and what he's in the process of doing to this country, and us! In his two months in office, he has more than had his "chance." What he has exhibited thus far, is more arrogance, a willingness to spend us MORE into debt than any time in our history, an apparent lack of understanding of anything relevant to the good of our country, and, a lack of just plain good 'ol "Common Sense"!

This man has the wisdom of a flea! That is, if a flea has ANY wisdom! Surely, there is someone behind the "curtains" pulling his "strings"?!

I'm sick of his use of the teleprompters! He ISN'T a good orator! He's a partially good "READER"! When I observe someone speaking, I want to look into their eyes...they tell one a great deal of what's going on inside the speaker. I do believe I've read "somewhere", that the "eye is the window of the soul"!!!

Those who blindly voted for this man thinking he was/is the "one" to lead us into the "promised land", are soon going to discover their envisioned "promised land" isn't materializing. The "koolaid" is rapidly drying up. Perhaps Obama can "strike the rock" out of which more koolaid shall once again flow freely!...Better yet, perhaps they will be healed of their "blindness" and get back on the path of sensibility.

Garbage
Don't you 65 year-old children have anything better to rant about? Not enough fiber in your diet?

The symbol for the GOP (they're still around, right?) should be changed to a silhouette of an old man sitting in front of the TV shaking his fist.

You losers had your chance and the country is in ruins because of it. Let the smart people run things for a while.

Pathetic.

The same idiots are elected at every election. Detroit is over 85% black, and a majority of voters in that dump want this kind of representation. The majority of black voters will only vote for radical black candidates who promise a free ride in life, regardless of the chaos and destruction that certainly follows.

I wonder if anyone would like to show up at a Detroit City Council meeting and discuss race.

So shave your beard and run for president already!!!!!
