What I Saw At McCain Headquarters On Election Night 2008

Poll
Do you feel the leaked information from a global warming alarmist organization is meaningful?

Viewing the United States through the eyes of a foreign national is one thing. And viewing the United States through the eyes of foreign media professionals is another thing.

So as we close-out 2008, and begin a new year with the soon-to-be President Obama, the view from the “foreign news desk” may shed some light on some of the ways in which the world misunderstands both our country, and our President-elect.

I don’t have any “McCain scandal” to tell. No tabloid-style inside scoop about John McCain and Sarah Palin squabbling behind the scenes on election night, or Palin’s daughter’s boyfriend’s mom doing drugs, or “marital tension” boiling-over between celebrity Sarah and jealous husband Todd.

But on November 4, I was at McCain-Palin headquarters in John McCain’s hometown of Phoenix, Arizona. The headquarters were set-up at the luxurious Arizona Biltmore Hotel and Resort, a facility where Mr. McCain has spent election day for every one of his previous Senate campaigns, relaxing and watching the returns being reported.

I was hunkered-down in the “central media center,“ which was, essentially, a very large banquet facility packed with electronic equipment, and journalists and technicians from, literally, all over the world.

By 1pm Mountain Time, having watched multiple reports on the Fox Newschannel and CNN about “exit interviews” at polling centers on the east coast, there was a bit of a “lull in the action.” That’s when Ian, a reporter from Dublin, Ireland seated at the work station next to me, asked me to join him for lunch. And after some shop talk over food and beverages, the conversation got really interesting.

“You realize Europe wants Obama to win this thing, don’t you?” he asked.

“I know that’s a widely-held perception” I replied.

“You don’t think the polls are accurate?” he asked.

“I’m skeptical of them."

“The problem with McCain,” Ian explained, “is that he is perceived as being another war monger, jus like Bush, and Europe is fed-up with Bush.”

“Yes, that is another widely-held perception” I told him. “But I’m even skeptical of this supposed hatred of Bush.”

“What’s to be skeptical about?” he asked.

“Well, consider this” I told him. “During the Bush presidency, no less that four heads-of-state have campaigned on Bush-like themes of cutting taxes, and taking a strong stance against Islamic-driven terrorism, and also promised to their countrymen closer ties with the United States and the Bush Administration itself. Stephen Harper of Canada, Angela Merkel of Germany, Nicolas Sarkozy in France, and Tony Blair of England all campaigned on these platforms, in one fashion or another, and they all won their respective elections. So while the opinion polls may reflect Bush hatred, ballot boxes have conveyed something different, and I take the election outcomes more seriously than I do opinion polls.”

Ian seemed a bit surprised by this analysis, yet he didn’t try to argue about it. Changing the topic, he then asked me “so is Fox Newschannel really the most popular cable tv news outlet in the U.S.?”

“Yes, it is consistently ranked the highest in viewer ship” I told him.

“I find that ‘fair and balanced’ moniker to be very amusing” he said. “Seems to me that much of what I see there is anything but balanced.”

“I think you need to separate the news from the talk shows” I told him. “Fair and balanced is meant to describe the news product, while the talk shows are opinion and editorial-based.”

“But do you even agree that the news is either fair, or balanced?” he asked.

“I do” I told him. “Juxtaposed with the liberal bias that is inbred within other news organizations, Fox is refreshingly un-biased.”

“That’s interesting” he said with a smirk on his face. I could tell he was skeptical, but was politely choosing not to argue.

Later that night, when the clock struck 9pm on the West Coast, and California was “called” for Obama, and Obama was thus declared the winner of the election, several American journalists began cheering, “high-fiving” each other, and dancing about in the McCain media center. A shot of staffers jumping and hugging on the set at CNN in Atlanta appeared on our big screen monitors, as well. “Oh dear God,” Ian exclaimed in his thick Irish brogue. “You weren’t jokin about the bias.”

“Pardon me” I replied, not quite understanding his point.

“I said you weren’t jokin about bias in American media” he said. “What’s with all this celebration for one candidate over the other?”

“It’s real” I told him. “You’re seeing some American media professionals in a rare moment of candor. Usually the bias is more subtle, but it’s always present. That’s why you can’t believe all the wonderful things told to you by the American press about Obama and other liberal politicians, nor can you believe everything terrible told to you about Bush and other conservatives.”

Conservative Americans have developed a healthy skepticism of our nation’s dominant, mainstream media. It’s time, now, to develop a skepticism of how our nation is being portrayed in the foreign media, as well. This will be especially important as we enter into the era of Obama.

The Emperor Has No Clothes
This is an accurate and concise description of the "truth" that is the American Media. I have no comment on the international media........I really don't care what they "think" (as they choose to call it.

The second truth is the the Faux-Conservative Party (known as the GOP) is not willing to stand up and pound the "main stream media" bloody in a brutal street fight in such a merciless and endless fashion that the general public will know that they are being lied to and missled.

The third truth is that The Republican Party will not win another major election until they break the hold that the liberals have on the distribution of "information".

These are simple truths, but they are not easy to stand for. May God grant us more politicians with the spine of Sarah Palin. We are so tired of back stabbing wimps.

The Problem with McCain
And one the Republican Party [especially George W. Bush] in adopting, has insured it's demise, is their disavowal of conservatism and a lack of the guts to speak up against the mania that has overtaken our country.

In attempting to "go along, to get along," they have relegated the Republican Party to a non-party...

...just another version of liberalism-lite.

President Bush, and his going along with every liberal bill that crossed his desk, and John McCain [a liberal Democrat at heart] diluted the conservative movement into something that was unrecognizable to conservative Republicans.

Conservatism isn't dead...there's just a vaccuum when it comes to a politician with the guts or moral certitude to stand up for it.

Give it 12 years, we'll be back
Here is the rest of the story. Neither the media nor republicans will dare say anything challenging the dimwitt of a foreign american president-elect obama. As a result, he will govern the next 4 years in a honeymoon phase, run with Hillary as VP and start another war in pakistan or afghanistan to ensure re-election. Hillary will then win the next 4 years to cement all things socialist in america. At this point, even the single digit obama supporters will blame Hillary for all the problems caused by Obama and we will be back in the Clinton, Bush error as Jeb Bush wins election as the first republican since his brother......after 8 years of Bush, Chelsea will be ready to run for office then after 8 years of chelsea, Caroline Kennedy's boys should be old enough to run....this is not a republic, it is a monarchy wrapped in socialist views and a liberal media to catapolt all things in the untied states of europe or should I say USSA

Wow sandra,
if I had a head like that, sans a love for Christ, I'd take it out back and shoot it. Seriously, I hope you have a strong faith in our Saviour because, the future may hold what you say or even worse. That is why you must shed any ideas of this world as a place of fulfillment. Live for the Lord and you will be much happier. He loves you sandra. He loves you so much that "He gave His only begotten Son" that you might find everlasting happiness w/ Him in Heaven.

"Seek first the kingdom of God...and all these things shall be added unto you" Mat. 6:33

great article
what insight into the way we are seen...if the world only knew the truth

Not surprising.
The adoration of the Messiah, along with the attacks on Governor Sarah Palin, Joe the Plumber and the softball journalism practiced since the election rather obviously showcase the media bias towards democrats in general and Mr. Obama in particular. If Gov. Blagojevich and bleepgate had been a republican scandal, the presstitutes would still be in a full-throated roar for impeachment and possibly capitol punishment!

People
in foreign countries get their perceptions of America from "our" MSM.

In my opinion the MSM are quilty of treason. They should be tried and spend their days in prison.
All for the sake of politics, they have brought this country down to the same level as any other Banana Republic.

We no longer have
a "mainstream media," just a propaganda mouthpiece for liberal Democrats.

I firmly believe they helped select McCain over strong conservatives to ensure a Democrat win. Look how they attacked Sarah Palin, whose selection threatened to upset their 'putsch.'

Face it, McCain was a terrible choice, but Obama is going to be even worse.

If not for the unprecedented attacks on Bush by media and Dems, his popularity would be much higher, in spite of his mistakes, I think.

I'm not holding my breath for any "objective investigating" of the Commissar in waiting.

Europeans just as provincial as Yanks
A few years ago, I and a friend spent four weeks enrolled in a Spanish immersion program in Antigua, Guatemala- one of the most charming cities in the world. Tourism and Spanish language schools are the main industries in Antigua.

During that month, we found most of the Europeans we met were just as uninformed, or unthinking about international affairs as your American "man on the street." Their political perceptions of the U.S. echoed the American liberal press, and their view of our culture came from TV.

During that four weeks, we met only one European with whom we could have a real give-and-take. This delightful Irishman was retired World Bank official who'd had assignments in Africa and indonesia, over the years.

Excellent

Well said..

It's a question of confidence
Do you trust the source to be honest and truthful?

I would suggest that even Townhall didn't support the conservative candidates in the GOP primaries.

Oh, I know it's all limited government and fiscal conservatism today on these pages, but this time last year, Hunter, Tancredo, and Thompson couldn't get mugged on TH.

I now have a confidence problem.

You are so right. Money takes the elections not the people. We knew from the beginning Obama was set up to win no matter how crooked. I don't know why we even hold an election since they are picked prior to the election.

All the money wasted when the outcome was already chosen.

Even Jesus got mad over money and busted tables. So what's your point?

You can tell the truth about money and politics and still love God.

Hunter, Tancredo, and Thompson couldn't get mugged on TH.

You are so right all media plays games and puts on a poor act as people can see through them if they would only look.

The ones that would have made a good president and turned this country around couldn't get any coverage. Media, Government and Money has a gross smell.

May God grant us more politicians with the spine of Sarah Palin. We are so tired of back stabbing wimps.

ALL MEDIA ate it up when Obama sent a crew to Alaska to to TRY to find dirt on Palin while Obama couldn't do a simple thing like post a legal birth certificate and the media couldn't pick up on it. Obama's lies are overwhelming.

And you think you have freedom of speech think again.

Test...
.

Even in the 3rd World: Bias!
I was visiting Dem Rep of Congo last May with a Rule of Law team. With several UN representatives, we were awaiting the arrival of the provincial governor on the main street of Mbandaka. While standing outside, the Deputy Governor started talking to me and bellowed about how "Bush has ruined Iraq" and "Obama is for change" plus other liberal shibboleths. The propaganda is more far reaching than you think.

Ron Paul's Campaign ignored even here!
Ron Paul's canidacy for the Presidency was heavily supported by a small group of Americans who understood the importance of his cnservative positions. But the so called "conservative media" like Shawn Hannity and Fox News Britt Hume, could not stop mocking Paul's campaign. Ron Pual was eloquently trying to restore the US Constitution. Why was this not a popular subject with the Fox News talking heads? Because while claiming to be a conservatives Shawn Hannity was concerned with not diluting the GOP ticket and instead he chose to be a paid shill for the monied intersts of Mitt Romney.

Ron Paul had a good conservative platfor

ELECTIONS ARE FOR THE RUBES
The candidates, outcomes were decided by organizations like the CFR and assisted by the mainstream media and the educational system. There is no such thing as the Republican Party, just division #2 of the CFR. A few candidates like Ron Paul, Tom Tancredo, Duncan Hunter were not included in the clique and thought the people controlled the selection of candidates and the elections. Now they know better. They fooled us with George W. Bush who is now socializing the banking, mortgage, insurance, real estate, brokerage and automobile industries with health care being next on the list for Obama to do. And include all of latin America in these plans too.
America, as we knew her, is done.

WHY RON PAUL CAN'T WIN

.....NICKEL MD ...

.....Even if the GOP had nominated Ron Paul he could not have won ...

.....The Democrats have a formula for selecting Presidential candidates ...they must be youngish, attractive and articulate ...why? ...because it works ...

.....They learned this lesson in 1960 when radio listeners thought Nixon won the debates and TV viewers gave the nod to JFK ...since then all Democrats nominees for POTUS have been hollywood productions ...American Idol auditions ...

.....Experience, wisdom and expertise count not a whit ...as long as the GOP keeps fielding candidates like Bob Dole and John McCain they haven't got a chance ....the only GOP candidate that excited the voters was Sarah Palin .....COLOSSUS

Europe farts into the wind;
it has little room for complaint. They benefited greatly from America’s sacrific and expensive military yet contributed nothing but 16 U.N. condemnations of Irag. It took George W. Bush to stand up.
And that he did.

Oh brother
Austin, I see you got the memo that all the other right wing pundits got. The polls saying that Europeans hate Bush and America are wrong because they elected people who like America.

Sorry, but that is not very sound logic. It falsely presumes that the only issue people were voting on is whether or not the candidates support America.

Also, it seems that those very same leaders you speak of like Obama much more than Bush or McCain.

Also, the fact that some reporters cheered, does not prove media bias. The few that cheered may have wanted Obama to win, but most reporters know how to keep their feelings in check and remain objective. Indeed, some reporters are so overly conscious of this that they actually end up being more favorable to the right wing candidate, just to prove that they aren't biased.

When are you righties going to quit crying and whining about media bias and just own up to the fact that your policies have been proven to be failures? Lower taxes and less government regulation have left us on the verge of economic collapse. Is it any wonder that the American people decided it was time to go in a different direction?

But you can't admit that your party failed to deliver on it's promises, so you blame it all on media bias.

How pathetic.

Phylo out.

jax33
One thing's sure, there wouldn't be enough room in prison for all Hussein's propaganda media machine.

phylo out of his mind writes something

However, Ian's response was quite telling wasn't it?

I wonder if he's shared his revelation back in Ireland?

Jeff Smith and Fred
I'm with you. That idiotic Irish journalist was so brain(?)-washed that he couldn't even imagine anyone disagreeing with the accepted perception of this country, which brings me to the oft-asked question - why does the rest of the world hate us?

Ans: Who gives a s..t?

baseball doc
I think you are exactly right

I do not care one whit.....
about what foreign media say about anyone or anything in the US. This is OUR country. The foreign media come from countries who didn't care about their sovereignty.....at least those about whom US liberals care.....like France and Germany and Sweden and Switzerland, etc. Who even cares what they think? And why should we? For centuries, and perhaps millennia, European Union countries fought for their country's superiority.....and they gave it all up and are now suffering for it. Sobeit. Let the opinion of foreign media run off your backs, Americans. Foreign media do not have a vote in OUR country.

Let's see what happens . . .
when the b hussein obama "admiration society's (msm) "honeymoon" is over. Will b hussein obama act like his mentor, abraham lincoln and imprison so-called liberal "journalists" and publishers for not toeing the "party line".
One could only hope.

It is much easier
to hate people for being right than for being wrong. Simple human nature.

That about sums up Europe and the rest of the world.

Then to add insult to injury Americans have the sheer audacity to share their wealth as well as use their military to protect the weak fools.

Americans need to get over this need to be loved by the rest of the world. No matter what we do someone, or some country, is going to howl. I guarantee if we were to close up shop and pull out of every country and practice total isolationism they would howl about that as well.

the msm and the messiah
it's one thing for the msm to gloss over the messiah during the campaign, believing in his empty rhetoric and overlooking his shortcomings and empty rhetoric in their desire to be a part of making history in electing b hussein

But after jan 20th the rubber hits the road. Effectively the dims have owned the economy since the day after the election but once he takes the oath of office b hussein will be fully accountable for what occurs with this country.

But once the messiah fails to deliver on the $4.5 trillion in promises he made to buy the elction the msm will find itself with the dilemma of covering up for the inability of the messiah and have to report he has broken his promises.

But hope and change without substance is no prescription to deal with the problems we are facing.

The messiah's dilemma is that I doubt he can make the difficult decisions when it conflicts with his need to be loved by the country and the world.

Election Night 2008
Two words to describe the majority of voters: DUPED DOPES! Our Nation just took a sharp left turn and the Framers of the Constitution just got a slap in the face by grossly ignorant voters. History shows that once a country takes the road we are now on decline is sure, possibly rapid, and direction is almost impossible to reverse.

The "yes, we can" slogan repeated a trillion times and my favorite on the derisive laugh scale, "I promise to deliver" will come back to haunt him, sooner rather than later. And the liberal dupes bought it!

I personally have huge reservations about the president elect’s beliefs and motivations. I don’t believe he truly holds The Declaration of Independence and The Constitution as sacred. I believe he sees these venerable masterpieces of freedom, liberty, and conservatism as something “whities” came up with and are to be interpreted to advance his socialistic and race-based agenda.

Conservatism has taken a body blow, no doubt, but we are not out for the count! You can bet that the liberal left, all flush with “victory”, will overplay their hand in very short order and with hubris typical to their kind (different and inferior species) they will hoist themselves up by their own petards and disgrace themselves royally. Hopefully, they don’t take the Nation down with them!

Publicly, the international community will laud the pretender for his “brilliant diplomacy”. Privately, they will gloat, laugh, and point at the gullible buffoon in the White House and the greatly reduced influence of the U.S. on the world’s stage.

The polls saying that Europeans hate Bush and America are wrong because they elected people who like America.
========

In my extensive travels in 30 countries in Europe, I have heard very little complaint about our Presidents.

For Example:

President Mitterrand was in office in France, and in 1985 the US press was saying that Europeans did not like President Reagan.
_______________________________
I took a poll of the “man-on-the-street.”
_______________________________
The question was “Mitterrand,” then “Reagan,” thumb up or thumb down.
_______________________________
About half were thumbs up for Mitterrand, and 45 of 47 were thumbs up for Reagan.
_______________________________
Most often the “thumbs-up” for Reagan was accompanied with a broad, happy smile.
(English Channel to the Mediterranean Sea, France)

========

A well-dressed man in the Grand Hotel said,” In America you have Johnny Cash, Bob Hope, and President Reagan.
_______________________________
In Sweden we have no cash, no hope, and Parliament.”
(Stockholm, Sweden)

And I could tell a bunch of such stories.

Liberal Media Bias

I don't know which is more scarier. The Liberal Media Bias or the fact that Liberals voters don't know that much of what they believe has been force fed to them by Media, by Liberal college professors, and from the time they could understand the english language in the school systems.

Their entire understanding of the United States is based on historical falsehoods from "Living Constitution", to "Separation of Church and State", to "Tax policies and social safety nets" to Congress or the President spends the tax money.

Liberals are not well educated people.

Compassionate Conservatives + MSM?
MSM is a group of financial cowards who are afraid to risk angering Democrats.

Remember what happened when FOX was going to air a documentary that Bill Clinton objected to?
Democrats were threatening to block the FOX broadcast license!
FOX edited the documentary and removed the part Clinton objected to.

Anyone ever hear of a "Compassionate" Conservative getting tough with the media?

We need a "Truth in Broadcasting Law".
Stations that knowingly broadcast lies or false innuendo should have their license pulled and sold at public auction!
Stock holders would take a dim view of whoever was responsible!

Austin
Great article and as an American I appreciate you speaking to reality when it comes to this subject.

Cheers!

LOL!
"We need a "Truth in Broadcasting Law".

Just like a liberal to want another law; another regulation; more control; another reason to relinquish ownership of having to pay attention, research for self and vet out the truth to those subjects which are of interest or which would influence your vote or participation in our society.

Liberals are ANYTHING but liberal!

scooter
I was quoting Myopine - a conservative whinging about wanting a "Truth in Broadcasting Law".
Can you read?

Charles-tx
What were the falsehoods?
How do you know?

If we had truth in broadcasting, ABC,CBS,NBC,CNN,MSNBC 7 ETC. would be out of business.
FOX would be the only one left.

LD35
I cited numerous examples of Fox's falsehoods and lack of fact checking. Can you do the same?

charles
You reveal a bit of sensitivity.

I spoke to the statement and its revelation of liberal ideology.

Who spoke of it is irrelevant.

Can't YOU read or are you too busy getting your exercise by jumping to conclusions.

Contempt prior to investigation; another liberal ideology - perhaps you're revealing something about yourself that you didn't intend.

charles

If it is a conservative making such statements, so be it, he or she reveals the nature of their liberal ideology through controls, manipulations, regulations, et.al.

It is true that conservatives act like liberals more often than they think, conservatives happen to self-correct more than liberals.

once again
"How many times did Hannity promote the books he "Wrote" - He, like Limbaugh used ghost writers. How many time did Rove appear as an "Analyst" without disclosing the fact that he worked for the McCain campaign? How many times has Dick Morris appeared bashing the Clintons without disclosing the fact that he was fired by the Clintons for a sex scandal involving him sucking on the toes of a prostitute?"

Any individual not listening or reading any statement made by an individual and then evaluating it irrespective of the person saying it, is an idiot.

It's as though an endorsement of a statement is an endorsement of the totality of the individual making it - how absurd is that! LOL!

Charles, are you liberal, because you seem very undeveloped and un-evolved in your thinking which is a typical trait of liberals.

Scooter
Sorry if I misunderstood you and I am not a liberal by the way

Right on, Brian
God's great gift to Democrats was just one Sarah Palin.... I agree, let's pray that He grants us many, many more.

Maybe wwe can figure out a way to clone her.

charles/LD 35
Charles is right... I once saw on Fox News where they said they would "be back in a minute" and it actually was about 2 minutes!

When will Fox News be held accountable for their many lies?!

Obama's gonna change it, Obama's gonna impose some fairness on Fox and replace all the jack-booted thugs like Mara Liasson, Mort Kondracke and Juan Williams and get some progressives on there to speak TRUTH to POWER... you hear that Carl Cameron?!

I have a nipple-ring infection. Any helpful hints from non-jack-booted progressives?

s/off.

Fair & Balanced Fox
The very notion of fair and balanced news is an indication of how corrupt the media scene has become. News is supposed to be an account of events that have actually happened. The news organization should take reasonable steps to ensure the information is correct. If the news item is derogatory of an individual that individual should be given an opportunity to set the record straight.
The reporting on the Blagojevitch scandal is a typical example of the extent to which conjecture and suspicions are reported in such a way as to give the impression of news item.
All the networks do this. However it is usually clear that the objective is to stir up controversy and ratings. However in the case of Fox, the speculation is consistently slanted in such a way as to reflect negatively on Democrats and Obama in particular. That is why only hardcore Republicans think Fox is fair and balanced. So Fox is essentially irrelevant as they are mostly preaching to the choir. When the rest of us listen, its usually in a spirit of "I wonder what the bigots are saying about this?"

Fair and Balanced vrs Popular
Is the position of Fox due more to the Fair and balanced News, or to the popularity of the different commentary/Opinion programs. Both are great and needed, but sometimes I have to think twice, listen hard and wonder aloud as to which side of an issue I am listening to. You have my attention, only shared during some Commercials.
richard

Election results matter
Your statement that you tend do believe election results more than you do poll results hits the nail on the head after wading through all the other BS that you surmise. The election results of 2008 is all the proof you need to get a feel for where the people stand on this subject.

mEDIA SUPPOR WORTH 15 POINTS
With balanced coverage, then, McCain wins by 10.

Watch Obambi's reaction to Isreal
The new messiah has said that he "Will stand with Islam" in his own book. I think Isreal knows that Obama is a mulsim at heart and will not lift a finger to defend Isreal and that may be a big factor in the conflict going on right now. Lets see how the MSM and the foreign press react when he starts to condemn Isreal and tell them to pull back.

Like Bush?

Oh please, the man chose Rahm Emanuel as his Chief of Staff. By the way, Israel can defend itself - they have nukes.

In what way is Obama morally or ethically weak?
He hasn't even taken the oath yet.

It was Clinton, not Bush
That inspired AQ to attack the US. That attack was hatched because of the weakness they saw in Clintons handling of foreign policy. We were attacked several times during the Clinton years and showed no backbone. How many times has the US been attacked during the Bush years?

Obama is a corrupt Chicago pol and his roots will dog him throughout his entire presidency as he has chosen to bring them with him to DC.

Which "Fox" showed up on Nov 4th??
I taped election night from Fox news...It was truly depressing "coverage" of a "historical election"...Fox showed the obligatory Grant Park shots with little commentary. They eventually showed students outside of the Whitehouse (wow!)...The Fox team certainly put a premium focus on the "keeping the Dems from 60" Senate results. I guess that was the "good news" for the night....The really sad part was that Fox News refused to "capture the moment"..They gave a close-up of Juan Williams tearing up but even THAT seemed stilted. That represented the entire emotional part of the evening...It was reported that Brit Hume cut the election night coverage short and went home!...I'm not sure if Fox Election day coverage falls under "opinion" or "news" but it looked like they were beaming in from another planet on November 4th...CNN and ABC had cutaways to Time Square,Africa,Japan, Atlanta, California and Indonesia. They showed people all over the world celebrating....Fox had a cutaway to a sourpuss Fred Barnes! I'm writing this entry because the Fox watchers on Townhall really missed an emotional night of pride in America. Whatever you think of the politics, the HISTORY of the night deserved far better. Everyone could have celebrated what the Obama election showed the world about the USA...The network should have been bigger than it's political disposition. Fox showed their true colors at the absolute wrong time. Forget about "opinion", Fox MISSED the "news"..

Umm, Clinton bombed the bejesus out of the training camps in Afghanistan and you guys criticized him saying it was just a distraction from the Lewinsky scandal. Clinton requested and extra $500 million to help that effort and it was turned down by the GOP controlled congress.

Bush spent most of his first year prior to 9/11 on vacation where he was warned about a potential attack. He was also warned by the outgoing Clinton administration of the threat by Bin Laden - a man whose family had close ties with the Bushes.

Bush then made an half hearted and unsuccessfull attempt to get Bin Laden then pulled back and attacked a country that had nothing to do with 9/11.

"How many times has the US been attacked during the Bush years?"

Well, lets see there was 9/11, and then Anthrax attacks.

Laughable
According to Sean Hannity, the Talk Radio windbags, and others at Fox, criticizing the President in a time of was is unamerican. I just wonder if they will change their tune after Jan 20.

How do we look? try broke!
The way we look to foriegn media is exactly the way the super rich arabs want us to be seen. We no longer control anything, he who has the gold makes the rules, so reads an old and true proverb. I hate to be the bearer of bad news again, but we are almost bankrupt and in serious debt. Where has all the money gone? Try looking in Dubai where the wealthy shieks buy brand new $50 million dollar jumbo jets for their own personal use and where there's ski slopes in the 120 degree desert and man made islands shaped like palm trees AND coming soon, air conditioned beaches, now tell me who's got more influence now??..... Obviously, the dirtbag media is in the pockets of the super rich. Our government is wrought with "new" foreign wealth and greedy for more! They're blind to the fact that their selling themselves out (along with the rest of us and their grandchildren!) and that's why obama was their candidate for "change", only the change they want is to make being a true American illegal and to force their globalist policies on us... Their only interest is a global economy and the money it will bring them. Americans just get in their way. C'mon folks it doesn't take a PhD to figure this out... I'm sure the saudi arab attack on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11 has something to do with their belief that any "world trade center" should be in an arab country so they successfully destroyed the one in the U.S. look for the new "world trade center" in dubai!! THINK ABOUT IT!!

Are YOU fair and balanced?

Wonder what your post would have said if McCain has won, and the channels did the same thing?

The Mass Media has Committed Suicide
During the 8 years of the Bush Presidency, regardless as to economic or geopolitical results, the news as reported as bad, and negative.

They did this for 8 years. Economic Policies that could only be described as suicidal were never fully investigated and allowed to fester. Both Party's were responsible for these economically stupid policies. The Press skewered Republicans and gave the Democrats a free pass.

The entire economic system of the world is based upon FAITH! The Faith in a system which is based upon trade of goods and services for pieces of paper! When the Press finally destroyed that Faith, they destroyed the system.

The Good News! is that they themselves will be destroyed by their own demagoguery. Just look at the NY Times and you see a once great newspaper, destroyed by its own liberal bias.

Creative Destruction is an economic term coined by the financial elite about Capitalism. From the rubble of economic destruction rises new life, new business, new productivity. Socialism doesn't matter, the process cannot be destroyed. When the Popular News Media is itself on the ash heap of history, we will look back at these days and be thankful for their suicidal self-immolation.

Mankind will survive these times...

Understatements
The statement that conservatives have a healthy skepticism of the American Media,is a gross understatement.

Speaking for myself,as a conservative,I LOATHE the American Media! They are the number one reason we are about to seat a president we know next to nothing about, from his birthplace to the present.

He has never had to answer any questions about his past because the press did not want to know and assumed no one else did either. It was time for a dark-skinned man to be elected. Obama fit the bill and that was that.

Oh,one other reason we are about to seat 'The One'. Having a RINO as a candidate on our side. One who would rather run against a Republican than a Democrat. The fact that we had a RINO was an American Press plan, also.

America
52million Americans have basicly followed another Jim Jones to Georgetown. What a sad day and future for what is left of America. If Mr. O survives for 4 years America will be in such disrepair there will be no hope. We will be just another second rate nation with little influence in the world.

Jon
"We will be just another second rate nation with little influence in the world. "

Newsflash:

Bush has already turned us into that

Phylo wins!
You win the prize for the most stupid comment of the day:

"Indeed, some reporters are so overly conscious of this that they actually end up being more favorable to the right wing candidate, just to prove that they aren't biased."

I would love to see your evidence of that inane statement.

Paul Crouch
Paul Crouch, founder of Trinity Broadcast Network, one of the largest Christian television networks had his own gay sex scandal in the past and had to pay the guy off to shut up and go away.

It didn't get a lot of media attention like Ted Haggard did so a lot of evangelicals don't even know about it.

Charles
Oh yeah! Sure Bush did that all by himself right? He's soelly responsible for the total disarray that our country is in right now? Yeah right! That's another lie from the hate America first crowd, that Bush is responsible for everything wrong that has happened lately is a LIE. Why do we have a congress or House of representatives or Senate or other branches of government to provide "checks and balances" for decisions and moves that certain people make? The LIE that Bush is responsible is a true cop out!! If Bush is a sellout, he's not the only one! D.C. is FULL of them.

Jeff
The GOP controlled the ENTIRE government for the better part of 6 years. We didn't have these problems during the 8 years of Clinton. For years the Republicans have worked systematically to neuter the SEC. As a result, the lack of regulation (Thanks Phil Gram) has allowed the crooks on Wall St. to get away with murder. This same thing happened in the 80s with Reagan deregulating the S&Ls. Bush has sold us out to the Chinese - They financed the Iraq war as well as the bailouts for Wall St.

Charles
The war couldn't have been approved without consent from key democrats which they got. Remember "I voted for the war before I voted against it" How many other democrats did the same thing? Anyway, to me this ain't a democrat/republican thing IMHO they are both filthy up to their necks in this whole corrupt free for all... We are the ones supplying the money and votes keeping these $hitbags employed! They are not doing the job we hired them to do which is establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity... They do none of the above! Taxation without representation! Now you tell me, should we continue to let them sell us out? When my grandchildren are my age, they will CURSE this generation and rightly so! We got politicians, large global corperations, and foreign interests robbing us blind, and our OWN media driving us down further, sure we're having financial problems but do they have to constantly rub out noses in it 24/7? Where's the positive news? We need to reign in those who swore to protect our interests and HOLD THEM RESPONSIBLE instead of let them get away with it. What do you do if you hire somebody that steals from you?

Blame the media, but which media?
How true...

As long as the Republicans let themselves be represented by Hannity, Coulter, Limbaugh, etc., they will achieve success only in the trailer parks and 'pay for pray' "churches" where the Republican base is strongest.

As an engineer, I work in a very conservative world filled with right-leaning, flag-waving fans of Reagan. But over the past ten years, I have watched as one Republican co-worker after another has bailed on the party of Coulter/Limbaugh and registered as independents, while voting Democratic. It was the only viable option for educated Americans.

And in case anyone was wondering, none of these hard working, intelligent professionals considered Palin anything but a bad joke, a final nail in the coffin of the Republican Party. Did the Party really expect thoughtful, well educated Americans to vote for someone who dropped out of college four times, and who was proud to be ill-informed about the world she lived in?

Geez, Steve
Your a great example of how an education doesn't make anyone smart when it comes to common sense. You, as a liberal, are going to tell conservatives what is wrong with their party? That truly is amazing considering you have no intelligence when it comes to what is wrong with your own party. For once get it straight, Conservatives are Conservatives and Republicans are borderline liberals anyways. When it fact it is Rush, Sean and Ann that do understand what being a conservative is and they do speak in the same tongue as we do. We are not looking to change but we are looking for a candidate that is conservative and not a wishy washy moderate posing as our candidate. Palin does have more in common with conservatives then McCain ever could hope for and that is why he did not get elected. Well sir, in fact it is you who is ill informed about the world that you live in. By the way you write you are one of those pseudo intellects who feels they are smarter then everyone else and knows what the next guy should do and what is best for them as if everyone else around you is too stupid and void of thought to know what they want. You people just don't get it and are totally void of any common sense. It is people like you who look down on everyone else that hasn't taken the same path as you have and thinks the same way you have. It is people like you who give college a bad name. "As an engineer..." ya know...go grow some gonads. Who really are you kidding?

Susan
Thank you Susan...You said everything better than I or anyone else! Awesome and right on.
We want to hear more from you....

Steve
Susan's right, you are an arrogant arse. What planet do you live on when you have the "trailer park" and "pay to play church" view of conservatives. Oh, that's right, that would be Planet California. You really should get out more often. The Republicans need to stop nominating RINOs and instead nominate proud conservatives who have a spine. McCain had one during Vietnam, but he lost it during his decades in Washington.

BRAVO
BRAVO AND THANKS YOU FOR THIS ARTICLE. I GET SO TIRED OF READING HOW BAD OUR COUNTRY IS AND EVERYONE HATES US. IF THEY HATE US SO MUCH WHY DO THEY ALL WANT TO STAY IN THE USA AND TAKE THE BENEFITS OF THIS GREAT COUNTRY. GOD BLESS YOU AND WHAT IN THE WORLD HAS IRELAND GOT TO TELL US HOW TO RUN OUR POLITICS. THEY HAVE HAD YEARS AND YEARS OF TRYING TO KILL AND BLOW EACH OTHER UP!

Ron Paul
Ron was and is a goof!! I have been to a number of events over the years here in Texas that Ron Paul spoke at and it was and is embarrassing to liten to this guy. Just visulize President Ron Paul as he approaches the podium to speak in his calumbo attire. He can barely put two sentences together. It would be a train reck!!! The reason he was ignored was that he needed to be ignored. He is a goof!!

What's Fair????
For now,we have a new President -elect.In the spirit of reaching across the aisle. We owe it to the Democrats to show their President the exact same kind of respect and loyalty that they have shown our recent Republican President

What I Saw at The Republican Convention
I saw a candidate in John McCain who was hand picked by the moderates and the left, including the MSM,Independents and yes,Democrats. He was not the choice of the Republican Base.

These above mentioned groups knew he would not be popular with the base,so he was their pick. We,who were so against being conned by a charlatan accepted McCain also a charlatan, but less so,however reluctantly as a buffer against what we felt (and still feel)was a disaster.

The left denigrates Rush,Hannity,Coulter, and other conservatives because they know we will never accept anything less than they espouse. They are right in their commentary. That is why the left hates them so. They fear them.

It is also the reason Sarah Palin and her reputation must be destroyed. She is a threat to the left. They know how, along with their lapdogs, the mainstream media and the entertainment industry,to destroy people.

Another innocent victim who comes to mind is George Allen. He made an innocent comment and wham!,he was history. There are many in the same category, destroyed by the left.

It is time,in fact 'way past time for the right to grow some and fight fire with fire. Without a mouthpiece like the MSM it won't be easy, but it is necessary to make an effort if we are ever to prevail again.

McCain
The election would have been called at 6:00 Pm Eastern time if Mc Cain had not picked Sarah Palin.Think landslide like Reagan over Mondale. Mc Cain was such a poor choice...I'm glad he's gon. If GOP ever hopes to regain anything, They must return to the roots and base of the party

It seems that the........
Palin bashing NEVER ceases.....lol...she must really be a political threat......

Palin/Kasich 2012

I could give a d*mn
about those European socialist snobs. Oh but they're oh so superior to stupid Americans - NOT!

If not for Sarah Palin, it would have been a total "bloodbath" for the GOP. Speaking of which, the GOP leaders have sold out completely on conservative principles and stupidly believe that they need to continue going further to the left to "compete" with the DNC. Sheer stupidity.

This country desperately needs courageous, conservative leaders like Sarah Palin.

And to h*ll with the msm, both here and abroad. In the end, it comes down to when will people, both here and abroad, WAKE UP to the TRUTH!?!

Phylo
Smoke some more crack, dude...

BDS knows absolutely no bounds, and we know you got it bad enough to try and push your poop down the throats of anyone not having a clue...

MSM isn't objective, no matter how many times you try to chant that mantra...

It's not lower taxes and less regulation that has us in the predicament we currently face, it's government passing laws to make lending more "fair" (CRA under Carter), coupled with gross irresponsibility on the part of Dems running Freddie and Fannie, coupled with antics by Frank and Dodd...

Turn Off The TV
The best thing one can do is to turn off the TV, cancel the newspaper, and stop your magazine subscriptions. You'll be a lot happier not hearing all the negative anti-American liberal fascist propaganda. Most "journalists" actually wanted to be lawyers but they weren't smart enough to get into or stay at law school. The transformation to totalitarian marxism can't happen fast enough for them, so they create Potemkin villages in their minds and on the pages to convince us that the degeneracy we are witnessing is actually "progress". Reading a newspaper is like staring at an open cesspool. Very predictable what you are going to find there.

MEDIA BIAS
As Mark Twain expressed it: If you don't read the paper, you are uninformed, if you do read it, you are misinformed. As reporters are almost exclusively employees, subject to direction by their employers, one can see the bias against business and anyone representing business.

the Party with no members

Gestell's 'joke' post hits closer to home than anyone would care to admit. The best thing the left has going for it is that "real" conservatives are so intent on not compromising that they will soon be able to have national meetings in a phone booth. When are they going to realize that the party, as they define it, will be open to a very small minority of Americans? The Dems will win by default: the vast majority of Americans will not be white, native English speaking and Christian. If that is the Republican base, they are hosed!

What I Saw at McCain Hdqtrs
The DEMOCRATIC Congress was voted in 2006 and the downward spiral began.....now the biased MSM have helped elect a "demon-cratic pres/administration"!
The wheels of prohecy are in motion.....
"those who refuse to learn from history...are doomed to repeat it" and we(America) haven't learned!
..........you have been warned.........

Media=Owners&Lawyers
The mainstream media, by and large, is owned by the corporate owners and their lawyers, and very little that is reported has any basis in fact, since most factual information is filtered out through the editorial process. Or the particular agenda's of the news organization. Murdoch isn't really even an American, but was raised a British subject, yet controls everything that Fox reports in some manner or another in his personal political beliefs. The others stations are held by liberal owners, so I believe Fox is simply there to supposedly balance the globalists who control the media on both sides of the aisle, and the international bankers from whom they are beholding for their loans and credit.
