Presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., has only been in the U.S. Senate for a few years, but his influence upon other politicians is already being felt.

Mike Roberts, Jr., a candidate in the Democratic primary for a Missouri state representative seat, has released campaign materials featuring Obama. Recently he released an ad where he says, “Like my political mentor, Barack Obama, I believe change is needed.” Previously, he distributed a campaign message which included a picture of himself and Obama

Roberts may be banking on the popularity of the Obama to carry him in this primary—his rival, an incumbent, was a Hillary supporter—but he may want to reconsider his support of the senator from Illinois. It might seem shrewd to bill oneself in the line of Obama, but it may ultimately be imprudent, considering Obama’s own associations. Obama has widely been criticized for his relationships with various questionable Chicagoans. Read all about his associates in the latest issue of Townhall Magazine. Subscribe today!
