Mike Johnson Vows to Investigate Biden Family Pardons

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) has vowed to launch a thorough investigation into the wrongdoing surrounding former President Joe Biden’s 11th-hour decision to pardon his family members, vowing to hold the administration accountable for any abuse of power. With growing concerns over the integrity of the pardon process, Johnson emphasized the need for transparency. He promised a full examination into whether these actions were politically motivated or designed to benefit the president’s family. His commitment to scrutiny comes amid mounting calls from conservatives for a deeper look into the Biden family's financial dealings and political influence.

In the hours before President Donald Trump officially took office, Biden issued pardons to five of his family members: Sister Valerie Biden, her husband John Owens, brother Jim Biden, brother Frank Biden, and sister-in-law Sara Biden. He also pardoned his son, Hunter Biden, despite insisting for months he would not.

“They call it the Biden crime family, if they weren’t the crime family why do they need pardons? We will be looking at it as well,” Johnson said, calling the pardons “disgusting.”

The House Speaker promised to continue to provide full transparency to the American people despite Biden being out of office. He announced that House Republicans would establish a select subcommittee to expose the truth behind the Biden crime family and their shady business dealings.

“House Republicans are proud of our work so far in exposing the false narratives peddled by the politically motivated January 6 Select Committee during the 117th Congress, but there is still more work to be done,” Johnson said. “We are establishing this Select Subcommittee to continue our efforts to uncover the full truth that is owed to the American people. The composition and other details regarding the Select Subcommittee will be announced soon.”

Johnson’s announcement comes after House Oversight Chairman James Comer revealed the nine Biden family members involved in the former president’s corrupt scheme.

“Joe Biden’s son. Joe Biden’s brother. Joe Biden’s brother’s wife. Hunter Biden’s girlfriend/Beau Biden’s widow, Hunter Biden’s ex-wife. Hunter Biden’s current wife. And three children of the president’s son and the president’s brother. So we’re talking about grandchildren – a grandchild. That’s odd. Most people that work hard every day a grandchild doesn’t get a wire from a foreign national,” Comer said.

Some Republicans want to see the Biden family members testify ahead of Congress.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) demanded the truth to be revealed, saying that if “they refuse or lie - let’s test the constitutional ‘reach’ of these pardons with regard to their future actions.”
