Red Wave Incoming: Republican Defeats Democrat Mayor In Landslide Victory

Townhall Media

Better late than never: A Red wave is storming the United States.

In a shocking landslide victory, a Republican city councilor in the liberal town of Pueblo, Colorado, defeated her Democratic opponent on Tuesday.

Heather Graham defeated Democrat incumbent Mayor Nick Gradisar by more than 5,000 votes. The Republican said, “The people have spoken,” in response to her history-making win.

Graham is “relieved” that the people of the liberal enclave want to see the city move in a different direction-- away from the same insane, radical policies that have destroyed the country.

“The first female mayor, that’s exciting … it’s been a long run. I’ve had lots of help along the way, and I’m excited to carry this title for the next four years,” Graham told a local ABC affiliate. “I think that people have been dissatisfied with the leadership over the last five years, and they’re ready for a change.”

In 2021, Graham got into politics after leading several protests against the city’s Covid lockdown mandates. She said she is looking forward to offering real solutions to problems the Democrat city is facing— unlike her liberal opponent, who allowed Pueblo to go down a black hole due to his Left-wing policies.

Graham also said she wants to put small businesses first after seeing how badly they suffered from the Covid dictatorship.

The rise in crime and homelessness has plagued the city of Pueblo, much like major liberal cities across the country. The election results suggest residents— even long-time Democrats— are frustrated with Left-wing leadership who have put a strain on the city’s budget and resources with little to no solutions found.

“Obviously, there are no simple solutions to the problems of crime and homelessness, or that would have been done by now. My opponent did a good job of identifying the problems, identifying the issues, but that’s the cheapest trick in politics, to identify that without offering any solutions. So we’ll see what solutions are going to be put forth,” Gradisar said.

Gradisar encouraged residents to rally behind Graham regardless of whether they voted for her, saying that democracy is at stake.

“We have to be ready to rally behind the mayor. We don’t have any choice. She’s going to be the mayor for the next four years. I think there are some other issues this community is going to face and this country is going to face that people need to get involved in. As I told my supporters earlier, it’s incumbent on each of us as individuals; our democracy is at stake in this country,” Gradisar continued.
