It Turns Out Liberals Go After Israel Just As They Do Justice Clarence Thomas

Earlier on Wednesday, Mia put forth a deep dive investigative piece examining the groups that funded the pro-Hamas activists who took over the Cannon House building last week. In what should be a shock to no one, many of them are backed by George Soros. During Monday's episode of "The Verdict," co-hosts Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Ben Ferguson discussed how such tactics are used to not only target Israel, but Justice Clarence Thomas.

Cruz's comments touched upon how previous episodes had touched upon how "unfortunately, big business has been behind much of the radical Marxist movement in this country, especially Black Lives Matter" as well as how "much of the corporate media operates as the propagandist for the Hamas terrorists."

That's when Ferguson chimed in to discuss the lengths that the left has gone through to go after Justice Thomas. "And if you look at the compare and contrast here to what happened also with Clarence Thomas," he offered, speaking to "the attacks on him and the character assasination on him" and how the left's "done everything to undermine him." Ferguson then pointed out how "a lot of this money can be connected to the same type of donors."

Cruz pointed to how a Sunday article was published by Tablet Magazine detailing how "Pro-Hamas Capitol Protest Backed By Democratic Dark Money." Last Thursday, not long after such pro-Hamas activists stormed the House building, Spencer wrote his own piece looking into such groups.

As the senator also reminded, the protest came as Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), a particularly anti-Israel member of the Squad, gave a hysterical speech repeating the falsehood that Israel had bombed a hospital in Gaza, despite how this story had already been disputed when Tlaib told it.

It was confirmed, as Townhall had been right about, that misfired Islamic Jihad rockets were responsible for the explosion. Stunningly, the congresswoman irresponsibly continues to double down on her false narrative.

When it comes to "the same type of donors," Cruz spoke specifically of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and the Tides Foundation, which funded groups that say they're comprised of Jews, but are also anti-Zionist, referring to The New York Times to descrption of groups like Jewish Voice for Peace and If Not Now (INN) as "Jewish, anti-Zionist groups." As the senator explained such a view, "they're saying they're Jewish, but they hate Israel," going on to explain "anti-Zionist means you do not believe Israel should exist. You're opposed to the existence of the State of Israel."

As Cruz laid out, the Jewish Voice for Peace received $340,000 from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, between 2019 and 2023 and $75,000 from the Tides Foundation in 2019. And for the much smaller, INN, If Not Now, those numbers were $160,000 fromthe Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and $45,000 from the Tides Foundation and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund." He went on to stress that "both are funding radical leftist Marxist endeavors."

Where the Supreme Court justice comes in is was best explained by the Washington Examiner, via a report from May that the senator referenced. Fix the Court, a group that demands Supreme Court "transparency," accidentally leaked its list of funders for 2021 to 2022 to the outlet.

As the report detailed:

As far as its 2022 funders, the Washington Examiner can reveal that the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, which has supported climate groups and said in 2015 it had a “moral obligation” to divest from supporting pro-fossil fuel groups, gave $50,000 to Fix the Court, according to tax forms.

...

Fix the Court's "panicked reaction" to releasing its donors is evidence that the group "is not serious about transparency," according to Parker Thayer, an investigative researcher at Capital Research Center, a conservative think tank. [Fix the Court Executive Director Gabe] Roth further told the Washington Examiner that he "wanted to fix the mistake as soon as possible" since his "donors don't want their names out there."

"They have attempted to smear honorable men like Justice Thomas over his own financial disclosures but are apparently terrified at the thought of someone obtaining their own," Thayer said.

Commenting on the report from the Examiner, Cruz described the Fix the Court group as "of course, the left-wing shell company that exists to smear Clarence Thomas, and to attack the U.S. Supreme Court and undermine the rule of law."

Such groups are hardly the only ones to go after Thomas, though. As that Washington Examiner report had mentioned, and as Townhall has also covered, the conservative justice has been the target of incessant smear campaigns, including but not limited to reports from ProPublica about his relationship with donors. Such reports have been heavily criticized, and Thomas has released the records.

From his spot on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Cruz also earlier this year called to mind the vicious attacks levied on Thomas during committee hearings and legislation markups as well.

As the conversation continued, Ferguson and Cruz once more brought the discussion back to topics in those previous episodes to emphasize the role businesses play in supporting other agitator groups such as Black Lives Matter and how the mainstream media does not seem to pay much mind to out-of-control protests like the one last week in Cannon.

This included as Ferguson brought it up as a sort of call to arms, mentioning "I think it is one of those things that’s going to have to become more of a focus for conservatives to expose where this money is coming from," adding "Black Lives Matter is a great example of that" with how "agitators nationwide" were "paid to be there."

"It wasn't organic, it was organized by this dark money behind the scenes," Ferguson continued, warning that "they're justcontinuing this model for any extreme issue, or social issue, or anti-Israel issue they can get their hands on," as he lamented "it's frustrating because the media doesn't want to look into their money either," labeling it as "so dishonest."

"If you have a massive amount of people randomlyshow up on a Tuesday in Washington DC, why isn't that a reporter doesn't ask first question, 'hey, is this authentic? Or is this a paid propaganda by somebody with dark money?' How hard is it to do your job in that scenario? I don't get it," Ferguson went on to wonder.

Other questions Cruz pointed out were "not complicated to ask" included wondering who paid for these protestors' travel expenses, hotels, who paid for them to be there, and if they were even getting a paycheck out of showing up.

"The media doesn't care. They don't want to know, they don't ask those questions, because they support the agenda ofthe radical left. This is all intertwined," Cruz argued. "The Democrat dark money organizations, big business, big media, the Marxist organizations, the anti-American organizations, the anti-Israel organizations, the anti-semitic organizations, they are all intimately intertwined."
