A GOP powerhouse group launched an effort against a targeted Congressional district in Pennsylvania. The Commonwealth’s 8th district is held by Rep. Matt Cartwright (D-PA), but is seen as a flippable seat that could help hand the GOP the majority in the House of Representatives come November. Congressional Leadership Fund works to give Republicans the majority in the lower chamber, and is targeting swing districts in various states, including Pennsylvania.
CLF rolled out its “Crooked Cartwright” website, highlighting alleged corruption from the Congressman.

The 8th district is a result of 2018 redistricting in the Commonwealth; Rep. Cartwright previously represented the 17th district. Rep. Cartwright's new district is also a "Pivot County" that voted for President Trump in 2016 after electing former President Obama in both 2008 and 2012. Rep. Cartwright won the seat by 9 points in the 2018 midterm election.
As CLF notes, the 8th district favors President Trump despite voting for a Democratic Congressman in 2018:
Recommended
In a recent poll of 10 Trump-won House districts now represented by Democrats, a clear majority supported President Trump’s policies (54%-43%), a plurality supported his job performance, and a commanding majority supported his position on border security (+26).
Pennsylvania’s 8th district is at play in November, and can help GOP leadership take back the gavel.
