Acting ICE Director Takes Ocasio-Cortez To The Woodshed Over Concentration Camp Remarks

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) knows how to stir the hornet’s nest. The far left Democrat rose to prominence for her outspoken left-wing views, specifically her desire to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement. And she certainly got a reaction from them with her absurd remarks about the detention camps housing illegal aliens at the southern border. The New York Democrat took to social media to say that we have…concentration camps. She referenced “never again.” She warned about how this could be a sign of the rise of fascism in America—and she got rightfully dragged through the mud for these remarks.

First, let’s go to her pivot when she first got flak for this: “For the shrieking Republicans who don’t know the difference: concentration camps are not the same as death camps. Concentration camps are considered by experts as ‘the mass detention of civilians without trial.’ And that’s exactly what this administration is doing.”

Oh, so she whipped out a professor’s hat and tried to lecture us. She still failed and got a failing grade for this stunt. The British established concentration camps during the Second Boer War. The French did so during the Algerian War of Independence. Yet, that’s not what we’re talking about here. Whenever someone used the term “concentration camp,” it's a reference to the Nazi holocaust. Whenever someone uses that term with “never again,” the reference couldn’t be any more explicit. You can’t polish a turd, congresswoman. We all know what you were referring to and no spin can justify it.

The historical illiteracy with the Left is stunning at times—especially for a group that is obsessed with calling their opponents Nazis. We don’t have Nazi concentration camps at our border, folks. I’m sure you all knew that, but here we are. The acting head of ICE took the New York congresswoman to the woodshed, calling her remarks misinformed, flat out wrong, and irresponsible (via The Hill):

Acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Mark Morgan, in an exclusive interview with Hill.TV, criticized Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) for likening U.S. detention facilities for undocumented immigrants to concentration camps.

"It's completely inappropriate, it's reckless, it's irresponsible, it's misinformed, and it's flat out wrong," Morgan told Hill.TV on Tuesday.

Morgan added "there is so much oversight in these facilities," noting there have been reports from Inspector Generals and non-governmental organizations about the detention centers.

"I encourage the check and balance, I encourage inspections. I feel very satisfied that if you go to these facilities, whether its a border patrol facility or an HHS facility or an ICE facility that there will be safe and adequate conditions to detain individuals," referring to the Department of Health and Human Services.

Director Morgan isn’t the only one slamming the socialist firebrand for her trash remarks, NBC News’ Chuck Todd put her on blast for these remarks, saying that not only were they inaccurate, but any point she was trying to make was torpedoed by the Nazi reference. He also was somewhat startled about the reluctance of Democrats to call her out. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other top Democrats have refused to condemn the remarks. Are they afraid of her?
