Want To Guess Which Republican Sided With Democrats On AG Barr's Contempt Vote?

Well, it’s happened. House Democrats are moving forward in holding Attorney General Barr and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in contempt for not cooperating with their trash investigation into the 2020 Census. Democrats want to know why the Trump White House wants to add a citizenship question into the upcoming survey, which will be decided by the Supreme Court this session. That decision is pending. It’s coming.

Still, the fact that this is even an issue is puzzling; a citizenship question has been included before. This isn’t new. It’s just Democrats doing everything they can to a) fight the Trump White House, and b) ensure that their position of power doesn’t change. With illegals out of the mix, the congressional maps in a lot of blue states—cough* California cough* cough*–will have their congressional districts rearranged. Democrats have done well dominating political landscapes by harnessing the illegal alien population, using them when it comes to drawing congressional districts and catering to them through ethnic representation on the Hill.  It’s why they’re against tough immigration measures. It’s why they like policies that foster open border mentalities. It’s why they don’t like deporting people who shouldn’t be here. It’s why they don’t care when criminal aliens murder American citizens. They see these people as new voters. It’s disgusting.

As Katie wrote earlier today, the Trump White House invoked executive privilege over the documents requested in a congressional subpoena:

President Trump asserted executive privilege over documents related to the 2020 census Wednesday morning. The move came as Democrats on Capitol Hill prepared to vote Attorney General Bill Barr and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in contempt for what they claim is a failure to respond to subpoenas about the administration's decision to put a question about citizenship status on the upcoming survey.

The Department of Justice has provided 17,000 documents and multiple officials for testimony in response to their inquiries.

And now, the war between House Democrats and the Trump White House had reached a new level. Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI) was the sole Republican to vote with Democrats (via NYT):

Congress clashed with President Trump on Wednesday over its efforts to investigate how a citizenship question was added to the 2020 census, as a House committee voted to recommend that two cabinet secretaries be held in contempt of Congress for failing to cooperate with the probe.

Retaliating in advance, the president invoked executive privilege to block disclosure of crucial documents, intensifying his feud with lawmakers over their efforts to hold him and his administration accountable.

The House Oversight and Reform Committee’s vote to recommend holding Attorney General William P. Barr and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross was the culmination of a monthslong dispute with the administration over the panel’s efforts to compel testimony from top officials and documents related to the census question. The vote was mostly along party lines, with only one Republican, Representative Justin Amash of Michigan, supporting it.

[…]

At issue on Wednesday was a politically fraught battle over the Oversight Committee’s attempts to investigate the Trump administration’s decision to ask 2020 census respondents whether they are citizens, an issue that has gone all the wat to the Supreme Court. The court is expected to decide te legality of the question within weeks.

Democrats have charged that the move is a politically motivated attempt by Republicans to intimidate noncitizens and ultimately depress responses from people of color, leading to less representation for communities that tend to vote for them.

Again, this question has been added before. There is nothing new here other than an epidemic of unhinged Democrats frothing at the mouth because Hillary Clinton isn’t president.
