BIAS: One Of The Hecklers Who Accosted DHS Secretary Nielsen Works For DOJ

Well, welcome to A-hole Theater, folks. Leah covered this yesterday, but a horde of socialists stormed a Mexican restaurant in D.C., where Department of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen was having a working dinner with staff. They created a ruckus. It was absurd, but Nielsen has become the face of the child separation drama at the border, which has liberals and their allies in the media coming out with all the feelings about it. I mean, the whole episode was nonsense. The perpetrators: the D.C. chapter of Democratic Socialists of America:

“How can you enjoy a Mexican dinner as you’re deporting and imprisoning tens of thousands of people that come here seeking asylum in the United States?” one protester is heard yelling. “We call on you to end family separation and abolish ICE.”

Another protester also took issue with where Nielsen chose to eat: “In a Mexican restaurant, of all places! The f-----g gall!”

At numerous times during the video the protesters yell in unison “shame”, “no border, no walls, sanctuary for all”, and “abolish ICE.”

The protesters also played audio of children crying at the facilities after reportedly being separated from their parents.

“How does that make you feel?” one activist asks. “Do you hear the babies crying?”

“End Texas concentration camps,” the group then chants.

Well, it so happens that one of the hecklers in this posse was a Department of Justice employee. Yes, this was during her free time, off-hours. Yes, she was well within her constitutional rights. But there’s been a lot of talk about bias at the Department of Justice, specifically the Federal Bureau of Investigation in how they conducted themselves during the 2016 election. Texts between top FBI officials, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, proved to be anti-Trump and spoke about stopping his presidency. Yes, she’s an employee in Trump’s DOJ, but she started working there under Obama.

The Daily Caller News Foundation has more:

One of the activists who chased Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen out of a Mexican restaurant Tuesday night over the Trump administration’s immigration policies is an employee of the Department of Justice, The Daily Caller News Foundation has confirmed.

Members of the Washington, D.C., chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America crashed Nielsen’s meal with a demonstration full of chants and other outbursts.

One of those participants, Allison Hrabar, actually works for the Trump administration — as a paralegal in the DOJ.

[…]

Following the protest, Hrabar tweeted that, “No one who has ever made their living terrorizing immigrants deserves peace. If you see one in a restaurant, at a movie, or in your neighborhood, remind them of that.”

Hrabar has worked at the DOJ since July 2016. Prior to that, she was a student at the selective Swarthmore College where tuition runs over $50,000 annually. She previously attended a charter school in Arizona.

Now, should she be fired? That’s up to her superiors at the DOJ. I’m not going to call for her termination; that’s what liberals do. I don’t like boycotts either. What this shows is that maybe she should’ve found a new job. She's obviously not happy working at DOJ and she probably doesn’t like her boss, Jeff Sessions either. This is a classic case of what Trump and others have noted about Obama holdouts. They’re like the last Japanese soldiers stationed on Pacific islands, totally unaware that they’ve lost the war. Okay—maybe they know Hillary lost, but they still have that fighting spirit. Like they’re the vanguard to the Obama legacy. That’s fine, but as government workers, aren’t you suppose to work to the best of your ability regardless of who is in the White House. And if that cannot be accomplished, you find a new job, right? Well, for these resistance fighters, that’s not the case. I’m sure she’ll keep her job. The problem is that it only adds fuel to the fire that there’s a plot to get Trump from within the halls of this department and from this recent inspector general’s report, that’s an allegation that’s not entirely out of left field.

The Washington Times’Larry O’Connor has more questions about Ms. Hraber, along with the notion that this is the result of eight years of politicization at DOJ, thanks to Mr. Obama and Mr. Eric Holder:

What are we to do with Ms. Hraber?

Working for the Justice Department, we are told, is the highest honor and privilege an American citizen can strive for. One has a “Higher Loyalty” when serving the DOJ, if I may borrow a sanctimonious claim from a famous former employee of the FBI.

So, is Ms. Hraber, through her actions toward another public servant, Secretary Nielsen, serving the ideals and principles that are supposed to permeate the hallowed halls of the DOJ?

More importantly, how many more Allison Hrabers are there? How many more Peter Strzoks or Lisa Pages? How many more Andrew McCabes? How many more James Comeys?

How many more members of the Justice Department who are currently working on cases that are loaded with partisan political ramifications are also active and vocal members of “The Resistance”?

I suspect quite a few.

This is what comes after right years of a community organizer as president. This is what comes after eight years of Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch reshaping the Justice Department in their image and in the image of their Commander-in-Chief. This is what comes when lawfare and bullying under the guise of justice become just another weapon at the hands of activists looking to circumvent the constitutional process and make law their own way… without the messy details and effort involved in gaining a majority in a legislative body.

I suspect there are many, many Allison Hrabers in the former Holder/Lynch DOJ. And they’re there because they were altruistically inspired to make a difference and change the world. And, like Allison Hraber and Peter Strzok and Lisa Page and Andrew McCabe and James Comey, they all expected to be serving in the first term of the glass-ceiling-shattering, history-making presidency of Hillary Rodham Clinton.

It didn’t work out that way.
