Democratic Rep: What We're Seeing With Trump Is Like The Rise Of Hitler

Members of the liberal media and anyone who isn’t a supporter of President Trump have been calling for a better sort of politics after the 2016 election for months. Well, when you throw the Nazi card around, that’s not going to happen. The Left’s epidemic of seeing Nazis everywhere reached a new level of intensity when scores of white nationalist fools descended into Charlottesville, Virginia to protest the removal of a Robert E. Lee statue. Left wing Antifa counter protesters arrived, skirmishes broke out, people were injured, and one person was killed when a white nationalist drove his car through a crowd of counter demonstrators.

Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) was interviewed by CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, where he said that he said he told a business group down in Hilton Head, South Carolina that “what I saw coming was a replay of what happened in Nazi Germany. The fact of the matter is Hitler was elected chancellor of Germany. He did not become a dictator until later when people began to be influenced by his foolishness. We just elected a president and he’s got a lot of foolishness going on.”

Well, no, sir. I’m not even going to go into the differences between our Constitution and that of the Weimar Republic, nor am I going to go into the fact that in the event of a national emergency—rule by decree would never fly with the Courts. It’s just too remote. Calling someone with whom you disagree with a Nazi is just lazy and too easy. Donald Trump is not Hitler. What is going on is not the rise of neo-fascism. What happened in Charlottesville is a tragedy, which had no good actors in the dispute. Antifa are thugs. The white nationalists are thugs. They have a right to protest and voice their opinions. They don’t have the right to beat up people and run people down in cars. On the latter, a white nationalist decided to cross that plane.

You can criticize Trump for not have a more coherent message on this awful event, but Hitler? No, that’s just hyperbolic nonsense.
