Olbermann: It's Time For President Trump To Resign (And Other Things That Won't Happen)

We’re less than a week into the presidency of Donald Trump and liberal commentator Keith Olbermann thinks it’s time for him to resign. Why? Well, for starters, it’s obvious that he doesn’t like him very much. Also, he’s not of sound mind. Oh, and because he’s not of sound mind--he could start a nuclear war (or something). So, it’s something of a patriotic duty to demand that he step down, removing himself from the nation’s nuclear arsenal. It’s six minutes of liberal whining disseminated as if we’re all on his side. We’re not. That we’ll get behind this nutty initiative. We won’t. And hope Republicans use measures within their power to force President Trump to resign, which they won’t do.

Via The Hill:

It's time for Donald Trump to resign as president," Olbermann said on "The Resistance," an online GQ video series. "Admittedly, it's been an interesting couple of days. But for any patriotic American capable of adding two and two and not getting one-and-a-half million, this is enough."

"This man is not of sound mind," Olbermann added, cautioning that Trump remaining in office could mean "the end of civilization."

Olbermann's call for Trump's resignation comes after Trump's spokesman reiterated Trump's belief in a baseless claim that as many as 3 million illegal votes were cast in the 2016 election.

Olbermann also slammed the administration for using the phrase “alternative facts,” using that example to show how this is a White House that isn’t in touch with reality. Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway used the phrase to push back against the news media calling out White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer for peddling a falsehood regarding the inauguration’s crowd size. Admittedly, this was not the best argument to make as a) Trump won the election; b) he’s now president; and c) it drew a healthy crowd, despite weather reports of rain threatening to make things soggy for attendees.

Mr. Olbermann admits that should this pie-in-the-sky, bath salt-riddled hypothesis become reality (it won’t)—he can at least sleep at night with a President Pence in the Oval. Yeah, this tantrum really isn’t a stretch for a man who said that we shouldn’t call President Trump…President Trump because he’s six-years old. Watch if you want. I just love watching the meltdown from the most ardent liberals in the news media. You guys lost. And you’re certainly in no position to lecture the rest of us about reporting about the truth and calling out falsehoods when Obama peddled them.
