Over 50 Electors Now Want That Russian Intelligence Briefing (Almost All Of Them Are Clinton Electors)

Well, there were ten electors who were demanding a briefing on the alleged Russian interference during the 2016 election. That number has swelled to over 50, most of them being Democratic electors for Hillary Clinton. The Hill reported that 54 of 232 electors for the former first lady are demanding outgoing Director of National Intelligence James Clapper provide them with the information about Moscow’s meddling, which is still just mere speculation, prior to voting on Monday (via The Hill):

“Separate from Mr. Trump’s own denials of Russian involvement in the election, the confirmed communication between Trump’s aides and those associated with the Russian election interference activity raise serious concerns that must be addressed before we cast our votes,” the letter reads.

While electors from Colorado, Massachusetts, and New York have signed on to it, Politico notes it does not include former President Bill Clinton or Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.). Both are electors for the state of New York.

Christine Pelosi, daughter of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), was among the original 10 electors to introduce the letter.

Chris Suprun, an elector from Texas, is the only Republican to sign the letter. It’s doubtful that they will get a briefing on such sensitive information that probably requires top-secret clearance.
