School Choice: Dems vs. Spellings

Education Secretary Margaret Spellings deserves credit for standing firm on school choice. Predictably, the liberals are fighting her every step of the way. According to the Washington Times:

"Top Democrats, such as Sen. Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts, chairman of the Senate education panel, immediately balked at the school-choice provisions, while indicating agreement in other areas."

While conservatives may disagree with much of President Bush's education policy and "No Child Left Behind," most would agree that it is wise to allow parents to pull their children out of failing schools.
