Jon Corzine in Critical Condition After Crash

Keep him in your prayers. He broke his legs, some ribs, his sternum, and a vertebrae when a truck smashed into his motorcade.

Corzine, 60, won't be able to resume his duties as governor forseveral days, if not weeks, and he won't walk normally for months, hisdoctor said. Fortunately, he did not suffer any brain damage in thecrash, said Dr. Robert Ostrum, who performed two hours of surgery onthe governor Thursday night at Cooper University Hospital.

''He's in serious shape, but he's alive and going to survive.Hopefully, he'll be back to work in a few weeks,'' said state SenatePresident Richard Codey, who took over as acting governor, speakingFriday on WNBC-TV.

Corzine was in the front passenger's seat of a sport utilityvehicle driven by a state trooper when a white pickup truck swerved toavoid a red pickup truck that had moved onto the highway from theshoulder, State Police Superintendent Rick Fuentes said. The whitepickup hit the passenger side of the SUV, sending it skidding into aguardrail. The red pickup left the scene.

And, it appears absolutely every story in America has an Imus connection right now:

Corzine was en route from Atlantic City to the governor's mansion inPrinceton to moderate a meeting between the Rutgers women's basketballteam and radio personality Don Imus.
I'm glad to hear he going to be all right, but those are some serious, painful injuries. Recovery will be tough, and I wish him the best.
