My Friends, They Shall Be Blogged

I wonder if, when I told them I'd "blog" them, they thought it would be more exciting than this. Nonetheless, if you'll remember, I was a bit slow on the blogging this weekend and the beginning of the week. There's a reason for that. I was in Colorado, on the slopes near Durango, working out the oncoming carpal tunnel in both wrists by repeatedly slamming them into the fresh powder.

Ha, I'm not much of a snowboarder, but I tried. It was my first time, but I got the hang of it after a couple hours, and was steering and standing up and other things integral to the snowboarding experience aside from falling on my behind.

So, without further ado, here are my friends-- blogged:

This is at Wolf Creek. It snowed about half the day we were there. Really beautiful. Probably more beautiful had I had goggles. 'Doh!

Oh, look how sad I am. I put some leftover country fried steak, collards, and mac and cheese in the bed of the truck while we were skiing. I figured, "hey, it's snowing. It'll keep." When we got back down to the truck, however, someone had eaten my leftovers. Now, my friends say it was probably some stoner snowboarders, but I have a different idea.

I prefer to believe that in the hard times and harsh climate of December in Colorado, a Mama and Daddy bald eagle were forced to scavenge in truck beds for easy meals. So, they grabbed my country fried steak and took it back up the mountain to the baby eagles, so they can grow up majestic and strong. So, in some small way, my country fried steak is serving this great country. My evidence? Can't you see the talon tear in the top of the styrofoam container? Dead give-away. Fly on, eagles! Fly on!

King of the mountain.

The view from the condo. Or, more importantly, the view from the hot tub.

Long and not very winding road. I had never been to Colorado before. It was absolutely beautiful. Thanks for having me, great and friendly citizens of Colorado.
