Jocelyn Nungaray’s Mother Claps Back at Democrat Who Accused Her of Politicizing Her Daughter’s Death

Earlier this month, Townhall covered how Democrat Rep. Colin Allred (D-TX) ran a campaign ad claiming to care about the border crisis. This happened despite the fact that Allred previously claimed that former President Donald Trump’s border wall was “racist.”

In a statement to Fox News, Allred spokesperson Josh Stewart said, “Congressman Allred is laser focused on solutions supported by both parties to fix our broken immigration system and secure our border.”

Then, the spokesperson went on to attack Republican Rep. Ted Cruz, who represents Texas.

“Ted Cruz has been in the Senate 12 years and has nothing to show for it. He tanked bipartisan legislation that would secure our border. Lyin’ Ted only cares about himself, and Texans know he will never be part of a real solution,” Steward added.

Over the weekend, Allred said in an interview that Cruz and Alexis Nungaray, the mother of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungary, who was raped and murdered by two illegal aliens, were using her death for “political gain.” Cruz has been running ads with Alexis Nungaray.

"I am a parent. I've got a three and five-year-old. All I can hope, personally, is that if we suffered a tragedy and lost one of our children, that we would try and turn that into action. I take offense at what Ted Cruz is doing, which is using a tragedy for his political gain when he has been a part of stopping us from solving this problem, and I can't stress this enough, that he's had forever to work on this,” Allred told Fox 26 Houston.

“Where's the Cruz bill? Where's the Cruz bill over the more than decade plus that he's been in the United States Senate? Why has he not been a part of the efforts to secure the border? Why does he always take it down whenever there is an effort? And he says it didn't go far enough or whatever, no, listen, that's not good enough. We have to act and when you have a crisis, which we've had, you have to respond to it,” he added.

In response to Allred, Alexis Nungary said:

"Senator Ted Cruz sat down with me days after my daughter was murdered. It was because of policies supported by Colin Allred that two illegal migrants were released from custody and were able to do what they did to my daughter.

"For Colin Allred to say that Sen. Cruz and I advocating for stronger immigration laws is only for political gain is a slap in the face to me. I’m not doing this for anyone’s gain. I’m doing this to solely advocate for my daughter. Jocelyn’s voice was ripped away from her. It is now my duty as a mother to forever be her voice, and no one will ever take that away from me. Colin Allred has no right to tell me how to fight for my daughter’s memory.”

This month, Townhall reported how a judge struck down an attempt to silence Jocelyn Nungaray’s parents from speaking to the media.

According to the New York Post, the two Venezuelan illegals accused of murdering the child pushed for a gag order on officials and her family.

As Townhall covered, Franklin Jose Peña Ramos, 26, and Johan Jose Rangel Martinez, 21, who both entered the United States illegally, were charged with capital murder in Nungaray’s death. The two illegals allegedly lured the child under a bridge in June and assaulted her before strangling her to death and dumping her corpse in a bayou.
