DeSantis Responds to Biden's Claim It's 'Cruel' to Ban Trans Treatment for Minors

If you look at some of the top reasons people who underwent gender treatment list for why they de-transitioned, some are because the individuals realized their gender dysphoria was actually related to other problems, they experienced health concerns as a result, or the transition didn't help with their dysphoria. Tragically, however, those people can never reverse the damage that's been done to them—mutilation that's being encouraged and celebrated in schools, pop culture, the media, and by President Biden himself in remarks that some argued were the "most Satanic thing ever said" by a U.S. president.

During a recent interview, Biden called efforts to ban puberty blockers and sex reassignment surgeries "cruel" and "close to sinful" and said the only way to protect gender treatment is to pass federal legislation. He was specifically referencing efforts in Florida, where Gov. Ron DeSantis has taken a firm stand against the mutilation of children.

While he can't respond to every attack against him, the Florida Republican did fire back against Biden's comments.

"It is not 'sinful' to prohibit the mutilation of minors," he said on Twitter, commenting on a clip of Biden's interview. "It is not acceptable for the federal government to mandate that procedures like sex change operations be allowed for kids."

Those comments were followed up with a powerful video from DeSantis's rapid response account showing the graphic scars from various procedures done during gender transitioning—in other words, the "compassionate care" the left wants everyone to rally around.

But even countries supposedly more progressive than America are shunning our destructive ideas on gender.

As Dennis Prager wrote in a recent column, Switzerland, Sweden, England, France, and Finland, among others, have all broken with the U.S. on the transgender issue, coming down firmly that gender is binary and arguing that "psychosocial support" should be offered to those experiencing gender dysphoria over surgery and hormone treatments. The U.K. even closed its only gender clinic for young people after an independent review found the model of care was unsafe and leaving children "at considerable risk" for mental health problems and distress.

DeSantis is right to not only reject the left's embrace of gender "care" but to support a ban on these treatments for trans youth. Beginning Thursday, Florida will join a growing number of states protecting children from irreversibly damaging their bodies.
