Word about getting into the U.S. through its vulnerable southern border has apparently spread like wildfire, not just in Central America, but across Africa as well.

U.S. Border Patrol apprehended a large group of 116 illegal immigrants in the Del Rio Sector on Thursday who hailed from Cameroon, Congo, and Angola.

The group was caught on video wading across the Rio Grande River attempting to illegally enter the U.S.

“Large groups present a unique challenge for the men and women of the Del Rio Sector,” said Chief Raul Ortiz in a statement. “This large group from Africa further demonstrates the complexity and severity of the border security and humanitarian crisis at our Southwest border.”

Agents performing line watch operations apprehended the group after they illegally crossed the Rio Grande into the U.S. around 10:30 p.m.

This is the first large group apprehended in the Del Rio Sector and the first large group of people from Africa – including nationals from Angola, Cameroon and Congo - apprehended on the Southwest border this year.

Agents have encountered 182 large groups of more than 100 individuals across the Southwest border so far this fiscal year. (CBP)

The White House shared footage of the crossing on Twitter.

“Last night, U.S. Border Patrol agents apprehended more than 100 illegal aliens from Congo, Angola, and Cameroon near the U.S.–Mexico border,” the account tweeted. “Our southern border is now a magnet for illegal immigration from all over the world. It's time for Democrats to help close the loopholes!”
