Former Canadian PM Also Calls Trump a 'Mother****er'

Though Democratic lawmakers are split on how to respond to freshman Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) calling President Trump a “mother****er,” she has the support of former Canadian Prime Minister Kim Campbell, who agreed, writing on Twitter over the weekend that Trump “really IS a mother****er.”

The tweet has since been deleted and Campbell was reprimanded for the remark from the editorial board of the Toronto Star, who called it “unacceptable.”

Campbell, who served a short stint as PM in 1993, is typically not a newsmaker but is now making headlines for all the wrong reasons. On social media, Campbell reposted a video of US. President Donald Trump discussing his calls for a southern border wall and left her own comment on top: “He really IS a motherf——-“

It’s unacceptable for any public figure to call any other public figure that phrase, let alone the former PM of Canada hurling it at the American president.

Jaws dropped immediately in response to her comment. Campbell later deleted the Twitter post but offered no apology. Instead, she attempted to rationalize it, pointing out how she was merely echoing the same language recently used by a Democratic lawmaker.

A perusal of Campbell’s social media feed suggests she spends a significant deal of time operating within an anti-Trump echo chamber. Everyone of course, including Campbell, is entitled to their opinion and where Trump is concerned, many have strong opinions.

But it’s unseemly for a former PM to add fuel to the partisan hysterics occurring south of the border. Campbell isn’t some random Twitter troll. (Toronto Sun)

Likewise, instead of apologizing, Tlaib doubled down over the weekend, telling WDIV-TV Detroit that the president has met “his match.”

"I stand by impeaching the president of the United States," Tlaib said. "I ran on that."

She continued: "It's probably exactly how my grandmother, if she was alive, would say it. Obviously, I am a member of Congress and things that I say are elevated on a national level, and I understand that very clearly. I am very passionate, and I grew up in an incredibly beautiful, urban community -- the city of Detroit -- born and raised. We say colorful things in interesting ways, but I tell you, the president of the United States is my focus. The residents back home are my focus."
