Conservative Actor Dropped by Liberal Talent Agent on July 4 Because He Was 'Feeling Patriotic'

James Woods was dropped by his talent agent on July 4 over his political beliefs, the conservative actor charged.

The actor shared the email he received from Ken Kaplan, his talent agent, on Twitter, which had the subject line, “Well…”

“It’s the 4th of July and I’m feeling patriotic,” Kaplan wrote. “I don’t want to represent you anymore. I mean I can go on a rant but you know what I’d say.”

Woods responded to the message via Twitter.

“My response: ‘Dear Ken, I don’t actually. I was thinking if you’re feeling patriotic, you would appreciate free speech and one’s right to think as an individual,” he said.

“Be that as it may, I want to thank you for all your hard work and devotion on my behalf. Be well,” he added.

Kaplan’s email didn’t say his decision to sever ties with Woods was because of his political beliefs, but Woods said last year that he had “accepted the fact that” he had been blacklisted from Hollywood because he's conservative.

Woods had been a Democrat until the late 90s, changing his views after former President Bill Clinton’s impeachment.

“I was for years, until #Clinton was impeached. Every single #Democrat without exception stood behind a convicted perjurer. That was the end,” Woods explained to one Twitter user last year who asked how he did not get “taken in” by the Democratic Party.
