Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) gave a video response Tuesday evening to President Trump’s Oval Office address on the need to secure the border. Sanders accused Trump of trying to “create fear and hatred” on the issue and argued that the “biggest crisis of all” may be climate change.

“Sadly, what President Trump is trying to do is create fear and hatred in our country," Sanders claimed. "Instead of trying to bring us together as a people, he is trying to divide us up. And in the process, divert our attention from the real crises facing the working families of this nation.”

“In terms of immigration in this country, what we need to do is not to waste billions of dollars on a wall, but to finally the address the need for comprehensive immigration reform, including improved border security," he argued.

He also accused the president of lying "all of the time."

“It gives me no pleasure to tell you what most of you already know, and that is that President Trump lies all of the time," he said. "And in his remarks tonight and in recent weeks regarding immigration and the wall, he continues to lie.”

He went on to say that climate change may be the “biggest crisis of all.”

“The scientific community has made it very clear in telling us that climate change is real and is causing devastating harm to our country and the entire planet,” he said, arguing that earth could become “unhealthy and even uninhabitable in the not-so-distant future.”

“Mr. President, we don’t need to create artificial crises, we have enough real crises,” he emphasized.
