Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) told Sean Hannity Monday evening that America had a “decision” in the upcoming midterm elections between a world where men are innocent until proven guilty or are “guilty until proven innocent because you are a Republican.”
Graham specifically cited his Democratic colleague Sen. Mazie Hirono (HI), replying to her comments that men needed to sit down and shut up during the Senate Judiciary Committee’s evaluation of sexual assault allegations against now-Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
Sen. Hirono argued last month that all the men in this country and in the Senate needed to "shut up" about the Kavanaugh controversy.
“Guess who's perpetuating all of these kinds of actions?” she asked regarding the allegations. “It's the men in this country. I just want to say to the men in this country, just shut up! And step up. Do the right thing for a change.”
“If we legitimize this process, the rule of law gave away to the mob rule,” Graham said of the manner in which Sen. Hirono responded to the allegations. “The ‘Hirono standard’ is horrific.”

As to her comment that men should shut up, Graham replied, “the people of South Carolina gave me my voice and not the senator from Hawaii. And I chose to use it in a fashion that I thought I said what a lot of people were thinking.”
He contrasted Hirono’s words with the words of Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) and her explanation for her support of Kavanaugh.

“Senator Collins gave the best explanation why a reasonable person would vote for Judge Kavanaugh,” he said. “We will take this to the ballot box 29 days now from. You have got a decision to make America. Do you want to live in a world of Senator Hirono where you are guilty until proven innocent because you are a Republican, you don’t have a presumption of innocence? Or do you want to live in the Susan Collins world where you’ll actually be heard, listened to and evaluated?”
In her speech, Collins concluded that since Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, the woman accusing Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct, had named four witnesses who could not corroborate her account she did not think Ford's claims met a "more likely than not" standard.
As for Hirono, she continues to insist that “what happened with Judge Kavanaugh is, from the very beginning, this was not a fair process."
She defended leftist protestors harassing GOP senators in their homes and at restaurants on CNN Sunday, arguing that “this is the kind of activism that occurs, and people make their own decisions.”
