Senator Graham Isn’t ‘Going to Be a Part of a Senate Where Democrats Get Their Judges and a Republican Can Never Get Theirs’

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said that in the case of a Democratic filibuster to Judge Neil Gorsuch’s nomination he was “going to vote to change the rules because I’m not going to be a part of a Senate where Democrats get their judges and a Republican can never get theirs, that’s not what it’s all about.”

Senate Democrats are poised to filibuster the nomination with 41 votes, forcing Republicans to use the so-called “nuclear option” change in filibuster rules to get Gorsuch confirmed.

Graham spoke at a press conference Monday afternoon following the Senate Judiciary Committee’s vote advancing Judge Gorsuch’s nomination.

“Our Democratic colleagues will not accept the fact that President Trump won,” Graham said, “he did, and when you win the White House you have the ability to appoint people to the Supreme Court, a list was given to the public, nobody was surprised by the list.”

“If you’re filibustering him, as a Democrat that just means you don’t accept the fact that President Trump won,” Graham said, adding, “Hamilton is rolling over in his grave.”
