RIYADH, Saudi Arabia - Secretary of State Mike Pompeo traveled to Saudi Arabia this week for meetings with female leaders and paid a visit to U.S. troops stationed at Prince Sultan Airbase. He also had conversations with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud about shared interests and security in the region.

"This is a facility where we work side by side and work on lots of important deterrence problems, that's right alongside our partners in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," Pompeo said during a visit to Prince Sultan Airbase. "The threat from the Islamic Republic of Iran is real. We're not far from there where we are sitting right now and you can see the good work that's being done by our young men and women in uniform to keep the peace, keep the deterrence, work with our partner to deliver to a place where I, as Secretary of State, can get the diplomatic outcome the president is seeking."

Pompeo will conclude his trip to the Middle East with a visit to Oman and a meeting with newly appointed Sultan Haitham bin Tariq.
