Democrat Congressman on Upcoming Mueller Testimony: Nobody Should Expect Anything New

Democrat Congressman Jim Himes is pouring cold water on expectations Special Counsel Robert Mueller will bring new information to Capitol Hill when he testifies in July.

"I believe Bob Mueller having watched him and known him for a long time when he says his testimony is his report. You should not expect and nobody should expect that Bob Mueller will make any news in either of the testimonies he will give to Congress," Himes said during an interview with CNN Wednesday morning.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff confirmed Mueller's scheduled testimony last night and said members will have questions outside of the more than 400-page long Special Counsel investigation report that was published in April.

Other Democrats are banking on Mueller to add fuel to their impeachment fire.

Harvard Law professor and fellow Democrat Alan Dershowitz is warning against Mueller's testimony and said it could backfire.

Mueller is expected to testify on July 17.
