Israel Celebrates New Neighborhood 'Trump Heights'

A new community in northern Israel honored President Trump over the weekend by naming the area "Trump Heights."

The move is in response to President Trump officially recognizing the Golan Heights as sovereign Israeli territory.

"After 52 years it is time for the United States to fully recognize Israel’s Sovereignty over the Golan Heights, which is of critical strategic and security importance to the State of Israel and Regional Stability!" President Trump said in March.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the White House for the official ceremony.

Meanwhile, the White House is getting ready to release its Middle East peace plan near the end of June. Next week White House Senior Advisor Jared Kushner will travel to Bahrain to lead an economic summit. Members of Palestinian leadership have been invited to participate, but have declined. They've warned Palestinians who choose to participate will face consequences and be considered enemy collaborators.
