Oh My, Did Pelosi and Schumer Just Say a Bunch of Nice Things About President Trump?

Speaking to reporters outside of the White House Tuesday afternoon, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer recapped a meeting with President Trump on infrastructure.

"We just had a very productive meeting with the President of the United States. We came to this meeting with the understanding that there is a great need in our country for rebuilding our infrastructure," Pelosi said. "We're very excited about the conversation we had."

"We agreed on a number [$2 trillion], which was very, very good,” Schumer said. "This was a very very very good start."

"There was good will in this meeting, and that was different than some of the other meetings that we've had," he continued.

Both leaders were smiling and laughing, even berating reporters for shouting and asking about investigations into President Trump on Capitol Hill.

President Trump also believes the meeting went well.

“Today, President Donald J. Trump, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senator Richard Durbin, Senator Patty Murray, Senator Debbie Stabenow, Senator Ron Wyden, Senator Tom Carper, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, Representative James Clyburn, Representative Ben Ray Lujàn, Representative Richard Neal, and Representative Peter DeFazio had an excellent and productive meeting on rebuilding our Nation’s crumbling infrastructure including roads, highways, bridges, tunnels and railroads, modernizing our air travel system, and expanding broadband access for our great farmers and rural America," White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders released in a statement. "The United States has not come even close to properly investing in infrastructure for many years, foolishly prioritizing the interests of other countries over our own. We have to invest in this country’s future and bring our infrastructure to a level better than it has ever been before. We will have another meeting in three weeks to discuss specific proposals and financing methods."

"The President and the Democrat leaders also agreed to a meeting in the near future to discuss prescription drug prices.  We look forward to building on this Administration’s success in having lowered drug prices for the first time in 50 years. President Trump feels there is a long way to go – drug prices should be much lower than they are today," she continued. "The President looks forward to working together in a bipartisan way and getting things done for the American people.”

Last time Pelosi and Schumer met with President Trump at the White House, he forced them to debate border security in front of the cameras. They objected and repeatedly demanded the press be escorted out of the room.
