Flynn: I'm Cooperating With Special Counsel Mueller

After entering a guilty plea inside the federal court house in Washington D.C. Friday morning for lying to FBI agents, former National Security Advisor General Michael Flynn released a statement saying he is cooperating with Special Counsel Robert Mueller as he continues his investigation.

"After over 33 years of military service to our country, including nearly five years in combat away from my family, and then my decision to continue to serve the United States, it has been extraordinarily painful to endure these many months of accusations of 'treason' and other outrageous acts. Such false accusations are contrary to everything I have ever done and stood for. But I recognize that the actions I acknowledged in curt today were wrong, and, through my faith in God, I am working to set things right," Flynn said.

"My guilty plea and agreement to cooperate with the Special Counsel's Office reflect a decision I made in the best interests of my family and our country. I accept full responsibility for my actions," he continued.

According to the charging documents, false statements were made about Flynn's conversations with the Russian ambassador during the transition. Flynn's decision to cooperate with Mueller is part of the plea agreement reached with the Special Counsel.
