UPDATE: Not Official; Great News: Steve Scalise Returning to Work in September

According to Baton Rouge Congressman Garret Graves, House Republican Whip Steve Scalise will return to work in September after being shot during a congressional baseball practice in June. Scalise was shot by a former Bernie Sanders campaign volunteer from Illinois. From an interview with WWL AM 370 Monday morning:

“He’s coming back next month. So we’ll see how that goes. He may be fighting off doctors at the hospital to come,” Graves said, “Steve is a fighter. His attitude and spirits have remained very high.”

Scalise has been in and out of the hospital all summer after suffering severe injuries to his hip and lower torso. He was released from MedStar Washington Hospital Center at the end of July after being readmitted into intensive care. He has been in rehabilitation for his injuries since.

Over the weekend Scalise condemned the events in Charlottesville.
