President Trump Threatens to Cancel Daily Press Briefings Because His Staff Can't Be Accurate

President Trump threatened to cancel the daily White House press briefing in a series of tweets Friday morning.

The tweets come after a week of changing stories from the White House about the timeline surrounding FBI Director James Comey's firing. Press Secretary Sean Spicer said Tuesday he was unaware of whether Trump still had full confidence in Comey after saying a week beforehand he did. Tuesday evening, Comey was fired and the White House cited recommendations from the Department of Justice as justification. Then on Wednesday, Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters during the daily briefing the President had not decided to fire Comey before receiving the DOJ recommendation on Tuesday afternoon, but during an interview with Lester Holt that aired Thursday night, Trump said he had planned to fire Comey all along and regardless of the DOJ's recommendation.

The President hasn't had public events scheduled for seven days in a row and has been reportedly frustrated in recent days about continued press coverage of Russia's meddling in the 2016 presidential election.
