Chuck Schumer's Shameless Hypocrisy and Faux Outrage Over James Comey's Firing

As soon as the news broke late Tuesday afternoon that President Trump had fired FBI Director James Comey, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer sprinted to the microphones to express his disdain for the move and accused the White House of a cover-up.

Schumer's crowing can be boiled down to one thing: shameless hypocrisy.

It was just a few short months ago that Schumer, backed by a number of Democrats on Capitol Hill and in the media, expressed his lack of confidence in Comey's ability to lead the Bureau. From Bloomberg News

Senate Democratic leader-in-waiting Chuck Schumer said Wednesday he’s lost confidence in FBI Director James Comey over his handling of the most recent disclosure in the Hillary Clinton e-mail investigation -- a tough rebuke to a man Schumer has long admired.

“I do not have confidence in him any longer,” said the New York Democrat, who has criticized as “appalling” Comey’s decision to send a letter to lawmakers 11 days before the election disclosing the bureau’s new review of e-mails potentially pertinent to the investigation of Clinton’s private server.

Schumer has been calling for a special prosecutor for weeks and reiterated those calls from the Senate floor Wednesday morning.
