With Wife By His Side, Weiner Explains Latest Sexting Debacle

Late Tuesday afternoon, New York City mayoral candidate and former Democratic Congressman Anthony Weiner held a press conference with his wife, Huma Abedin, to explain explicit sexual online conversations that

emerged Tuesday morning.

Weiner opened his prepared remarks by reminding everyone he has said in the past that more messages and explicit content may come out. Today was that day.

"There is no question that what I have done is wrong," Weiner said. "I want to say again I am very sorry to those on the receiving ends of those messages."

Weiner repeatedly thanked his wife for a second chance and told reporters their inquiries into the situation and conversations were valid.

"Anthony has made some horrible mistakes," Abedin said, adding that it took a lot of therapy to get over things. "But I strongly believe that is between us...I love him, I have forgiven him."

Weiner said during the conference that he wasn't going to get into whether specific allegations are true or not and although Weiner couldn't say when the latest situation took place, he did admit it was probably sometime last summer, a year after he resigned from Congress.
