Liberals were unable to contain their emotions on Twitter after news broke that the Department of Justice is dropping its case against Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn (Ret.). Gen. Flynn had initially plead guilty to lying to the FBI during their investigation into Russian meddling during the 2016 presidential election.

Gen. Flynn was interviewed by the FBI in 2017 while he was serving as President Trump's national security adviser. The case was dropped on Thursday after the top prosecutor, a former member of ex-Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team, moved to withdraw.

Gen. Flynn moved to withdraw his guilty plea in January. His lawyer, Sidney Powell, alleged that top DOJ officials moved to entrap him.

Many on social media decried the decision, saying dropping the case after he plead guilty represents the "collapse" of the DOJ.

On MSNBC, Neal Katyal, a former U.S. Acting Solicitor General, also told host Nicolle Wallace this means the "collapse of the Justice Department...This is a political and incredibly destructive thing to the rule of law."
