GOP Calls Out Democrats For Dragging Their Feet on Holding China, WHO Accountable for COVID-19 Pandemic

Republicans in the House of Representatives have been leading the charge in recent weeks to investigate the Chinese Communist Party's propaganda and cover up efforts for their early mishandling of COVID-19, the resulting global pandemic, their ties to the World Health Organization, and their efforts to use money to infiltrate American colleges.

Noticeably, House Democrats have been largely absent in publicly joining their counterparts to get to the bottom on how the Wuhan coronavirus was able to go global.

According to a House GOP aide, Democrats on the House Oversight and Reform Committee have made no effort to reach out to work with Republicans on investigating China or the WHO. This is despite Republicans on the Committee sending a letter to Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) asking for hearings and briefings to held on the WHO's relationship with the CCP and its poor response to the coronavirus pandemic last week.

The letter pointed to how Maloney admitted how "the WHO has shortcomings that must be corrected." A request for comment from Maloney's office on the GOP's letter was not returned in time for publication.

"If you think Democrats are serious about getting to the bottom of the CCP's role in the coronavirus outbreak, then I've got some beachfront property to sell you in Wuhan. Their silence on the issue is a disgrace," another Republican official close to the Oversight Committee told Townhall.

The frustration stems from actions being taken by Republicans on what should be a bipartisan effort, given how China has shown to not be a true ally to the United States and how the world is grappling with the pandemic only because China severely mishandled the initial outbreaks and tried to hide the virus' severity.

In another glaring example, seven GOP ranking members on House committees sent a letter to Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos to ask for their "preliminary findings or reports" from their investigations into American higher education institutions taking foreign money, specifically from China. No Democrat signed onto the letter.

"The House should be working. I mean, with the House not working, that only gives Nancy Pelosi more power and gives China a pass," House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said on "Lou Dobbs Tonight" on Monday. "We could bring committees back to do that critical work on those bills that can be bicameral, could actually become law, not political like national defense, the water resources bill. We should be doing appropriations and Oversight should be studying the World Health Organization because of what they have been able to do and harm the rest of the world in this process."

What House Democrat have done in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic is creating a select committee to provide oversight on President Trump administration’s coronavirus response efforts. As for talking points, Democrats seem more concerned about hammering Trump's initial response to the virus.

Through the current efforts by House Republicans, it was confirmed, by the State Department, that the state-run media in China, Russia, and Iran are working in together to blame the COVID-19 pandemic on the United States.
